PRESIDENT’S SPEAKS
We the Rotaract Club of Colombo Millennium City started the Rotaract year 2010/11 with the
theme ‘Because We Care’.
The story behind our theme is keep it simple & have fun - do what your heart tells you to
through service to your family, your friends, and your community by touching their hearts.
On a joint initiative of twinning with the clubs of Rotaract Kota & Zenith we hope to continue
the same on a start to a strong & long lasting Rotaract relationship.
The three clubs collectively are now a family and we at RCCMC are proud and honored to be a
part of that family.
Rtr. Abdul T Z Sanoon
We look forward to bringing down our new family to Sri Lanka very soon. Await more

Dear Readers,
2011 has been very eventful since the very first month of January. District Conference “Bani-
Thani”, “Rotasia” , PETS -2011-12 etc have kept me on my toes. But that’s exactly what we
Rotaractors excel in. Managing everything under the sun. Isn’t it? Whether it is professional life,
studies, career, Rotaract or Personal life, we manage everything well.
Friends, As you all are already aware that at Rotasia , Goa, we had the tri- Party Twin club
Agreement between Rotaract club of Colombo Millennium city , Sri Lanka and Rotaract club
Zenith , Chennai. So going forward in the series of steps which we might be taking during rest
of year to gain maximum culturally and professionally from each of us ,This E-bulletin shall
Rtr. Neha Gupta serve as a small token of remembrance of the historic agreement where instead of usual two ,
three clubs have done their twinning together.
I believe that this initiative will help in promoting better goodwill and fellowship among our
clubs. This initiative is very unique in the fact that it is binding three very extremely culturally
rich RI districts. Joining up of a club of North India, a club of South India and a Club of Sri Lanka
is definitely exceptional and amazing. Although we are dispersed in different parts of the globe
but this bulletin effectively illustrates our “UNITY IN DIVERSITY” due to similar thoughts, aims
and ambitions.
I hope there will be a lot of Cultural & Vocational learning as a result of this initiative.
I would like to specially thank Rtr Krishan Gopal Malu , Rtr Swathi Sujr , Rtr Abdul T.Z. Sanoon,
Rtr Sulari and other Rotaractors in all three clubs for giving their contribution in this bulletin.
Last but not the least I m extremely grateful to our Sponsored Rotary Club President Dr. Vikrant
Mathur and other Rotarians of the club for their incessant motivation.
I wish for effective working of this coalition and achievement of our ambitions and goals.
May God Be With Us.
Long Live Rotaract Fellowship!
Yours Rotaractively

It gives me immense pleasure to pen my message in this joint bulletin and I thank Rotaract

If any people asks me what you learnt from Rotaract, I will say FRIENDSHIP first. And I am really
happy that we are developing our friendship across the region with Rotaract Club of Colombo
Millenium City and Rotaract Club of Kota. We introduced as strangers to one another through
social network, shared our interests, met at Rotasia 11 and now we are like a family. I would fail
my duty, if i dint thank Rtr. Krishan Gopal Malu who encouraged us for the triparty twin club

Kachori Project:
They Say “Cleanliness is next to Godliness”
Inspired by this idea, we took an initiative to make Kota a
cleaner place. Kota is very famous for Kachori shops. But
people used to clutter the place by throwing used paper

on major Kachori joints in the city and educated the people
there about the importance of clean surroundings and
requested them to throw the garbage in Dust bin only.
Training Seminar on Stock Exchange & Financial

Recognizing the importance of financial literacy in the

i.e in early 20s.

importance of trees for our survival and also gave them

FOOD AND NUTRITION:
Food is very important to all living things in this world. All animals including human beings need food to live. Why
do we need food? Foods contain macro nutrients and micro nutrients. It helps in growth, maintenance and function
of our body. Macro nutrients are carbohydrates, proteins, and lipids. Carbohydrate gives us energy which need to all
actions of our body. Proteins are essential for growth in infants and children. In adults proteins helps to maintaining
the body (replacing the wear and tear in tissue). It also needed to fatal development in pregnancy and milk output
during lactation. Fat gives us more energy than carbohydrates and proteins. Vitamins and minerals are called as micro
nutrients. Vitamins and minerals are essential to functions of our body. They give support in absorption of macro
nutrients.
Diet which contains macro nutrients and micro nutrients in certain ratio is called balanced diet. We have to consume
balanced diet at least two times in a day. Breakfast is essential to growth and maintenance of our body. Continuous
skipping of breakfast leads us to obesity and damage of brain cells. Lacking are insufficient consumption of micro
nutrients cause many deficiency diseases like anemia. Over consumption of fat and carbohydrate is a main reason for
obesity. Obesity is one of the main reasons for many diseases like heart attack, diabetes.
Prevention is better than cure. To lead a healthy life consumption of balanced food in right amount without skipping
and sufficient physical activities are important. Health is a big wealth than others. Healthy person can lead the life
better than others. So eat healthy foods and increase physical activity.

QUESTIONNAIRE
1. Name/ Nick Name: Manjula Maldeniya / Manj
2. How long have you been in Rotaract? 8 Glorious years
3. What are the most interesting Positions you have held in Rotaract? President /
Vice President / Treasurer / Secretary / Dir. International Understanding / District
Treasurer / District Interact-Rotaract Coordinator / District Assistant Secretary
4. How is the support you receive from your sponsoring Rotary Club? Satisfactory. Could be better
5. What are your thoughts about having a Tri party twin club agreement between Rotaract Club of Kota,
Rotaract Club of Zenith and Rotaract Club of Colombo Millennium City? I think it’s amazing where 3 clubs
form a sort of an alliance to work together and make the community a better place.
6. Any experiences you would like to share from International Rotaract Events? International RYLA (USA, 2007)
and Rotasia (India 2007). Amazing experience where you get to meet a lot of people and learn about cultural
backgrounds and share local experiences with them. It gives a whole new meaning to globalisation of friendship.
The best part about such networking is when you visit their country the next time, there is an open invitation to
come and stay with them as they are ever willing to host fellow Rotaractors. That is the true meaning of friendship.
7. Do you have any International Project in mind on which we can work together on a bigger level and which
can help both Sri Lanka and India? Well there are too many thoughts which cannot be put in writing. As time
goes by, ideas can be brainstormed and put together as “ideas generated by many creative minds are better
that one”.
8. What does Rotaract really mean to you? Rotaract is my 2nd home. Thanks to Rotaract, I have so many friends
that I cannot count. Rotaract is a place you learn through your mistakes, a place to grow, build self confidence
and be able to do anything at any given time.
9. What has it offered you within the years you have been a Rotaractor? It has helped me to become a confident
person, a person who can take up a challenge and ensure it’s done till the end.
10. Final message or thought you will like to share with your fellow Rotaractors or Prospective Rotaractors.
Rotaract is an amazing movement. When I joined back in 2002, I was a little sceptical as I did not know what
was going on. However as years went by, I grew closer and in fact fell in love with the movement hence my 8
years of a wonderful experience. I would recommend this movement to anyone between 18-30 to join and
make a difference; make a lot of friends, build friendships; they become your second family. I wish Rotaract
term doesn’t haven’t end at age 30, however I must move on and give room for others to grow. This clearly
shows how attached one could get to Rotaract. SO IF YOU ARE NOT YET A ROTARACTOR…. DON’T JUST SIT
THERE…. JOIN A CLUB….
