ARISE (Alternative Rice Intensification System Enhancement) is a farming method developed in the Philippines to increase rice yields while reducing dependence on chemicals. It combines five practices: proper seed selection, thorough land preparation, soil nutrient management, integrated pest management, and water management. The goal is to increase farmer yields by 10-35% using organic methods, lower production costs, and improve farmer livelihoods. Key components include wider spacing of plants, application of Trigrow organic fertilizer to promote robust roots and tillering, and mechanical weeding. Field tests showed ARISE crops had more tillers and were healthier than those grown with traditional methods.
