A pre-existing medical condition is defined by most insurers as being an illness or
injury that you were seeking or receiving treatment for or had symptoms of in the
past 6-24 months.

due to high conflict areas or based on travel advice by the Department of
Foreign Affairs and Trade. Review the PDS to ensure that there is no
exclusion relating to the countries/regions you are travelling to.
Read the PDS to ensure that the features and benefits of the policy meet
your expectations. Policy limits vary between insurers, for example, some
insurers may limit luggage to $5,000, whereas an alternate insurer may have
higher benefits of $10,000. Generally no two policies provide the same cover.
Review the level of the features and benefits as well as the policy exclusions
to ensure you are aware of the policy limits and there are no surprises in the
event of a claim

Travelling
Travel insurance companies will often have a 24-hour Hotline Number to
assist travellers in the event of an emergency. Make sure you take your travel
insurance policy information and contact numbers with you so you can easily
contact your insurer from overseas. It is also a good idea to consider leaving
details of your travel insurance policy with family or friends back home.
