to the threat of dangera fightor flightresponse istriggered,unabletorespond,anindividual isthen
stuck inthe traumatic event. A frozennervoussystemwill remaininaheightenedstate.Inorderto
cope and protectourselves,the mindandbodydisassociate thuscreatinganumbingeffect.Onlyuntil
the threat of dangerhas subsidedwill the nervoussystemreturntohomeostasis.
What is Trauma Touch Therapy™ ?
Trauma Touch Therapy™ isa hands-onapproachthat helpsthose affectedbytraumaand the resultant
behavior.The workisledbythe needsof the client.Each sessionisorganic,tailoredcompletelytothe
client,withoutsetprotocol.Thissomaticbasedprocessutilizesavarietyof modalities,includingbreath
work,touch,sensationexplorationandexperimentationwithmovement.TraumaTouchTherapy™ is
not a singularapproachto the healingprocess,butrathera tandemeffortwithapsychotherapistto
enhance andsupporttreatment. The intentof thistype of therapyisto create a safe andnurturing
environmenttoslowlyexplorehealthytouchandto investigatesensationandfeelinginthe body.
Whowill benefitfrom Trauma Touch Therapy™?
Anyone whohassufferedanytype of traumaticexperience.ThisIncludes,sexual abuse,emotional
abuse,physical abuse,experiencingorwitnessingaviolentcrime,wartrauma,car accidents,PTSDand
surgical traumas.
Role of the Trauma Touch therapist:
To create an ideal environmentthatenablesthe client tofreely expressthemselves.Tobe attentive and
assistthe clientinbuildingtolerance andresiliencytostrongsensationsandfeelings.Tobe withthe
clientwithoutanagenda. To keepthe clientpresentinmind,bodyandsoul.Tosupportthe clientto
findingtheirownneeds.
Scope ofpractice for the Trauma Touch Therapist:
While the TraumaTouch therapistmighthelpemotionsandwoundscome tothe surface,itis the
psychotherapistwhohelpsthe clientexplore the meaning.The TraumaTouchtherapistwill nevergive
an opinionoran interpretationof the client’ssymptomsnorwill theydiagnose whatisemotionally
happeningwiththe client.
What a clientshould expect:
Trauma Touch Therapy™ isa processof integrationthatgenerallytakesplace overthe course of ten
sessions. The firstsessionwillrequirethe clienttocompleteawrittenandverbal intake,includinga
responsibilityagreement.Thiswill provide anopportunityfor:
 The clientto discusspersonal goals
 The therapistto evaluate potential areasof explorationwiththe client
 Clientandtherapisttoestablishthe workingguidelines
The clientwill be givenasensationlist.The intentof thislististo aid a clientin identifyingsensations
overthe span of treatment. Afterthe paperworkhasbeenaddressed,the clientandtherapistwill
engage inan awarenessexercise.Asmentionedabove,subsequentsessionswillnotfollowany
