NOC services involve the continuous monitoring and management of an organisation’s IT infrastructure to keep it running smoothly and efficiently, 24/7. The NOC provides round-the-clock proactive monitoring and management to enable issues to be caught and resolved before they become potential show-stoppers. The effective NOC relies heavily on automation; in particular, the use of sophisticated remote monitoring management (RMM) tools.

Epistemic Interaction - tuning interfaces to provide information for AI supportAlan Dix
Paper presented at SYNERGY workshop at AVI 2024, Genoa, Italy. 3rd June 2024
https://alandix.com/academic/papers/synergy2024-epistemic/
As machine learning integrates deeper into human-computer interactions, the concept of epistemic interaction emerges, aiming to refine these interactions to enhance system adaptability. This approach encourages minor, intentional adjustments in user behaviour to enrich the data available for system learning. This paper introduces epistemic interaction within the context of human-system communication, illustrating how deliberate interaction design can improve system understanding and adaptation. Through concrete examples, we demonstrate the potential of epistemic interaction to significantly advance human-computer interaction by leveraging intuitive human communication strategies to inform system design and functionality, offering a novel pathway for enriching user-system engagements.

Observability Concepts EVERY Developer Should Know -- DeveloperWeek Europe.pdfPaige Cruz
Monitoring and observability aren’t traditionally found in software curriculums and many of us cobble this knowledge together from whatever vendor or ecosystem we were first introduced to and whatever is a part of your current company’s observability stack.
While the dev and ops silo continues to crumble….many organizations still relegate monitoring & observability as the purview of ops, infra and SRE teams. This is a mistake - achieving a highly observable system requires collaboration up and down the stack.
I, a former op, would like to extend an invitation to all application developers to join the observability party will share these foundational concepts to build on:
Securing your Kubernetes cluster_ a step-by-step guide to success !KatiaHIMEUR1
Today, after several years of existence, an extremely active community and an ultra-dynamic ecosystem, Kubernetes has established itself as the de facto standard in container orchestration. Thanks to a wide range of managed services, it has never been so easy to set up a ready-to-use Kubernetes cluster.
However, this ease of use means that the subject of security in Kubernetes is often left for later, or even neglected. This exposes companies to significant risks.
In this talk, I'll show you step-by-step how to secure your Kubernetes cluster for greater peace of mind and reliability.

6. Consulting
Based on your demands and requirements, we provide active support
in finding you the right solution. Profit from our extensive experience.
Our long-term partnerships guarantee that we are always at the cutting
edge of technology advancements.
Assessment
Our assessment offers you an expert insight into your IT infrastructure.
It is vital to identify the strengths and weaknesses of the existing envi-
ronment if you want to systematically develop your IT. An assessment of
other sub-areas such as backup/disaster recover also reveals valuable
information.
Performance measurements
Where is the bottleneck on the storage system? Or how can minor al-
terations produce maximum effect? Perfo rmance measurements for
servers, storage, network etc. provide answers to these questions and
others.
Proof of concept
We offer a proof of concept service for various areas. This service allows
you to conveniently test the solution in your environment – and, if it is
what you are looking for, the concept will be rolled out and will go live.
Concepts
Concepts do not have to be complex, theoretical studies. Yet it does
make sense to first consider the functions, benefits, application, mon-
itoring and objective you want before you design a backup, security,
mobile device, disaster recovery solution or set up a domain.

response times, preventive maintenance and many
more are included in a single point of contact agree-
ment. These agreements can cover certain areas

Monitoring
Any professional IT environment would be incon-
ceivable without the monitoring of hardware and
software. Monitoring detects vulnerabilities before
they cause disruption to operation. The monitoring
system can also be flexibly configured to individual
requirements. Customers are notified directly or via
the transtec service desk.
Outsourcing/Outtasking
transtec can manage certain areas or the entire
IT infrastructure and deploys the system in accor-
dance with pre-defined service levels.

9. MANAGED SERVICES
Virtual workplace
Servers no longer have to be located in an organization‘s data center. Virtual
servers in a data center and terminal server or VDI technologies support
extremely flexible access with various end devices. Besides office workplaces,
power-hungry development workplaces can also be deployed more efficiently
and flexibly.
Cloud data storage and mail server
Today it is no longer viable in many cases to pursue the local management
of mail servers. Profit from Microsoft Office 365 and transtec services for
migration and deployment. Enterprise file sharing and Microsoft Sharepoint are
becoming increasingly more popular for users to safely access their data from
any remote location.
Online backup
Instead of daily tape exchanges, overnight backups are automatically
transferred to the online backup environment. Tasks are monitored and ensure
that data can be restored when required.
Disaster Recovery as a Service
A replication of business-critical servers provides maximum fail-safe protection
and disaster recovery scenarios at attractive costs.
transtec HPC cloud services
transtec offers computing capacities in their own HPC cloud especially for
customers in Computer-Aided Engineering (CAE) or life sciences. Various
standard applications are pre-installed and are available to users across a
user-friendly graphics portal.

MULTI VENDOR SERVICE
Cost optimization
Manufacturers charge a lot for their services. This
often leads to increased costs after purchasing the
hardware. It doesn’t have to be that way.
The transtec Multi Vendor Service can offer savings
up to 50% compared to the manufacturer’s original
service, depending on the system. This includes a
whole range of manufacturers and device classes.
An opportunity to optimize costs and
simplify your processes
Runtime optimization
Many systems are used in critical environments over extended periods of time. However, manufacturer ser-
vices often have a limited duration and thus the systems are either replaced although still fully functional,
or operated without service. Thus in case of failure, procuring spare parts and restoring the device becomes
a problem for the customer.
The transtec Multi Vendor Service provides a solution. For all systems that are still in working order mainte-
nance can be provided even after the manufacturer's warranty has expired. This increases the service life
and usage cycles of your systems.

15. Process optimization
Who never got lost in the warranty and service terms of different manufacturers?
Different SLAs, notification conditions and various contacts for each manufacturer
make you lose time in case of service and the systems are inoperative over an extend-
ed period of time even though the SLA may indicate otherwise.
With the transtec Multi Vendor
Service these processes of ser-
vice notification can be simpli-
fied. Leave the maintenance of
your infrastructure to us and
we provide you with a steady
contact for your systems re-
gardless of the manufacturer.

Intermax, Rotterdam
Intermax (est. 1994) is a well-known and respected Dutch internet service pro-
vider, offering cloud and managed hosting solutions to a variety of customers.
Their mission statement is to help and assist organizations in the use of internet
and ICT infrastructure, by providing them with advanced managed hosting. For
a specific customer environment, Intermax was looking for an easy-to-manage
storage solution with the possibility to serve high IOPS with low latency. There
turned out to be only one solution that fitted all of the specific requirements
Intermax had: Nimble Storage. It only took a proof-of-concept of 2 weeks to
convince Intermax of the converged storage capabilities the Nimble system has
to offer. Among other things they praised the easy setup of the system and the
performance figures, which were unprecedented till now.
