CPR Yards Crossing Study
Welcome to our open house
Today we’re talking about ideas to replace the
Arlington Street Bridge and improve crossings over the
CPR Yards. We look forward to hearing your views.
Innovative Bicycle Facilities for Roswell, GeorgiaSharon Roerty
This presentation will review the challenges and opportunities to implement bicycle facilities and treatements in Georgia's first and only Bicycle Friendly Community.
The Transportation Alternatives Brooklyn Committee urges NYC DOT to re-examine conditions near the Jay Street Plaza. Access to entry points are dangerous and construction planned in 2010 will only worsen the situations. This presentation scratches the surface of this problem.
Metro Gold Line Light Rail Transit Project, Metro Gold Line Construction Authority (2000-2004), South Pasadena, California. Formerly known as the Pasadena Blue Line Light Rail Transit Project, Phase 3 involved completion of the 30% urban design documents for the portion of Marmion Way from Avenue 50 through Figueroa, including the design of the Avenue 57 Station vicinity. Pedestrian amenities there include: a two block long pedestrian/transit plaza, street trees, benches, landscaping, pergola, special paving design commemorating the historical roots of the neighborhood, and Arts & Crafts era architectural compatibility. Fred Glick coordinated the contract for the Construction Authority for quality assurance/quality control from 2001-2003. Construction is now complete. The Avenue 57 Station Transit Plaza and Marmion Way Corridor dedication was held on Saturday, May 10, 2003. Recipient of 2004 National Transportation Planning Award of Excellence, Safety Conscious Planning, sponsored by the Federal Highway Administration, Federal Transit Administration and the American Planning Association, Washington, D.C. Awards Jury consisted of ITE, AASHTO, APTA, and AAA.
Silence, Lines, Fractals, and Woven Operationsvictoria meyers
Silence is based on Zero Carbon Footprint, as well as a lack of sound; A Line is a Concept about a series of points with zero mass, but also stretching to infinity, in two directions; Fractals are complex equations that pertain to most living things, and nature; Woven Operations are ways that Architects and others can create Invisibility, by blending various operations together. Silence, Lines, Fractals and Woven Operations are applied and discussed in selected hMa projects presented by Victoria Meyers at the University of Puerto Rico School of Architecture, March 2015.

Presentation by Kip Skabar, Senior Associate, Transportation at Stantec, at the ASCE-OC "Sustainability in Site Development" seminar held in October 2015.
Matthew Roe is a Senior Planning and Research Manager for the New York City Department of Transportation. This presentation from August 26, 2013 comes from a seminar on effective street design to improve safety and economic vitality. The seminar was hosted by EMBARQ Turkey at the Istanbul Technical University.
Presented by Michelle DePass and Rich Newlands
The North Williams Traffic Safety Project started out with the highest of ideals—a greatly improved, safer transportation corridor with easier interactions between vehicles, bikes and pedestrians. What happened next is a public participation nightmare with, perhaps, a legendary ending. This project provides the perfect scenario for best-case public participation by illustrating how NOT to conduct a planning process in disadvantaged communities, followed by lessons learned about the importance of culturally-sensitive public outreach within the context of rapidly-changing demographics of inner North/NE Portland.
On 22nd July 2009, I welcomed the opportunity to share my perspective as an experienced town planner and project manager to the Ford Strategic Design Group in London and offer insight into the California development process. The presentation’s purpose was to provide an overview of town planning and highlight key elements of environmental analysis for new development master plans and regeneration projects relevant to transport, namely, the automobile. It included a featured a sustainable transportation case study on the Orange County Great Park and Great Park Neighborhoods, a 4,700-acre regeneration project in Irvine, California (40 miles south of Los Angeles, California). Ending with recommendations for Ford to collaborate with emerging developments, I offered California-based opportunities that promote a reduction in vehicle miles traveled (VMT) and support zero-carbon emission climate change strategies, while facilitating community mobility.

APWA Award Winning Roundabout in Ann ArborOHM Advisors
http://www.ohm-advisors.com. This award winning roundabout in Ann Arbor is making the intersection of Huron Parkway and Nixon Road safer, greener, quicker and cheaper. The project was named APWA Michigan Chapter's Project of the Year. Aggressive public outreach efforts that included Russian and Chinese translators and field trips with visually impaired people made this project both an engineering and a public relations success.
On September 23-24, Chattanooga business owners, residents, City engineering, transportation, and planning staff welcomed Dutch bicycle transportation experts to plan and discuss how Chattanooga can become more bike-friendly. The two day ThinkBike workshop addressed how to improve multi modal access along Frazier Avenue and Cherokee Blvd on the north shore and create a link for the St Elmo neighborhood to the planned Riverwalk extension. The result was a broadened understanding of how incorporating bikes and pedestrians into all projects can create a sense of place.
ThinkBike was hosted by the Royal Netherlands Embassy and the City of Chattanooga with generous support from the Benwood Foundation and Friends of Outdoor Chattanooga. The Regional Planning Agency provided staff support for the planning of the workshop.
