5. Twisted Pair Cable
• Twisted pair cabling is a type of wiring used for
communications in which two conductors of a single
circuit are twisted together for the purposes of
improving electromagnetic compatibility.
• It is a cost-effective and reliable, easy to install and
requires minimal maintenance.
• It also offers excellent protection from interference and
crosstalk.
• There are two main types of twisted pair cable:
unshielded twisted pair (UTP) and shielded twisted pair
(STP).

6. Coaxial Cable
• Coaxial cable is a type of electrical cable that consists of
an inner conductor surrounded by a concentric, tubular
insulating layer and an outer shield.
• It has increased bandwidth, better signal integrity, and
improved signal strength.
• Its shielded design also provides better protection
against electromagnetic interference
• The most common types are RG59, RG6, and RG11

7. Fiber Optic Cable
• Fiber optic cable is a type of cable that uses light to
transmit data made of thin strands of glass or plastic.
• higher bandwidth, lower attenuation, and greater
resistance to interference.
• It is also more secure, as it is not vulnerable to
electromagnetic interference.
• There are several types of fiber optic cable, including
single-mode, multi-mode, and plastic optical fiber
(POF).

Media
Guided transmission media refers to any form
of communication that does not rely on a
physical medium or wire to transmit data
They use the atmosphere or free space as the
medium for signal transmission
Some of the major types of Guided Media:
• Radio waves
• Microwaves
• Infrared waves

9. Types of Guided Media
Radio Waves: Radio waves are a type of electromagnetic radiation
with the longest wavelengths in the electromagnetic spectrum.​
Microwaves : Microwave is a form of electromagnetic radiation
with wavelengths ranging from about one meter to one millimeter.​
Infrared waves: Infrared is electromagnetic radiation with
wavelengths longer than those of visible light and shorter than
radio waves.​
Satellite: Satellites are man-made objects sent into space for a
variety of purposes. A satellite orbits the Earth, and is powered by
solar energy or other sources of energy.
