This is from a talk I gave at the Madison Health Tech Meetup on 5/17/12 about my experiences in the healthcare startup accelerator Blueprint Health and my top take aways from the mentors.

Healthcare becomes one of major economic and social problems around the world. Also security and privacy challenges in the healthcare sector is a growing issue , The psychology and sociology of information technology users in healthcare sector have problems to raise awareness about cyber security issues and the efforts that do aim to protect patient health do not equal the efforts that do to protect healthcare systems and records from daily cyber threats. Recent events have made clear that hackers will find opportunities to exploit flaws in the way healthcare organizations try to manage patient data with wrong mission and outdated approach, so it will lead to data protection failure. Healthcare organizations have lack of budget especially for information technology infrastructure and lack of staff training and monitoring systems to enhance information flow inside and outside organizations, also healthcare industry facing lack of talent who can improve systems security and thinking like hackers. It's possible to decrease gap between industry and healthcare organizations by increasing awareness about security issues depend on correct mission which focusing on patient records and health , In addition to modern approach that can detect advanced threats.
Failcon Atlanta - A Post-mortem of a healthcare startupClassPass
Dr. Jeff Novich gave a post-mortem presentation on the failure of his healthcare technology startup. Some key lessons he discussed included focusing on business over product, avoiding "black box" solutions, not building for outliers, recognizing that doctors are slow to adopt new tech, understanding user acquisition, acknowledging that patient portals are now commoditized, doing thorough market research, hiring a CTO, and maintaining passion throughout the process. While his initial startup aimed to improve efficiency in his medical practice, it ultimately failed to gain traction after launching more broadly.

Burson-Marsteller China and Kantar Health jointly released a piece of research on healthcare and wellness trends in China. The survey was organized through an online questionnaire involving 1,000 consumers across tier 1 and 2 cities in China. Over 50% of the respondents, aged 26 and older, were college graduates, and over 70% were professionals and mid-to-high level executives.
The survey found that healthcare is the top spending priority for Chinese families. Nearly 70% ranked it as the most important expenditure area. Consumers are empowered and proactive in managing their health, with over 80% researching online before doctor visits. News websites are a key information source on health topics. The internet and online peer communities are trusted platforms for sensitive health issues. Women play a large role in healthcare decisions and spending, which is increasing on preventative care and wellness.
