This chapter discusses the experiences of transgender children in contemporary America. It explores how their reality is often unknown or seen as frightening by many people. Despite differences, transgender children should have equal rights to live openly and freely. The chapter also examines how transgender children have been compared to mythological creatures like changelings and fairies that have mixed human and otherworldly traits. It aims to bring their experiences out of shadows and into the light.
