Soon you will have news from the Green Patrol…
We want to give the chance to form and show our students in an active way, the
importance of looking after our planet.
That is why we will take part in every compaings and actions that we are offered:
• Waste reduction week.
• Visits to the city dump and taking part in workshops.
• Visit to the ecologic vegatable garden in Canapés place.
• Taking part in “the Aviles adding up oil” campaign. More sustainable city, Our
school is the second in the rank of oil taking with 979 litres collected.
• Creation of the “Green Patrol” formed by students of different levels. They will
coordinate, inform, and care for the good practices at school.
• In the different classrooms we have eco- bins or eco-bags the COGERSA has
given us to recycle paper and cardboard. The same way, there will be a bin for
plastic and containers. And every teacher will contribute to paper reduction:
- we email the draft school documents to all the people implied (teachers, School
council, Parent’s Associations…)
We print and photocopy on both sides of the paper. Every teacher has a pendrive
with the basic documents of school, programmings, specialities, levels, areas,
materials, etc.
We store posters and materials done in the different projects to reuse and recycle.

2. One of our dayly routines is shopping. Consumerism.
But this practice is many times means depletion.
We don’t take into account the environmental repercussions and the
side effects of supply of goods and services for people living in our
planet.
According to the UN consumerism in the industrialised countries is
one of the main causes of environmental spoil. UN makes an appeal
to revise these consumerism processes and change them to more
responsable habits.
We understand as responsable habits those dealing with quality, price
and environmental impact and the manufacturer’s behaviour.
Criteria to make a responsable shopping:
Don’t make compulsive purchases. Buy only what you need.
Encourage fair trade, based on balanced transactions, with respectful
production processes and cultural and environmental friendly.
Consume natural, recycling and ecological products.
Reject products with exagerated packinging.
Resuse plastic bags.
Avoid one use packages and use returnable glass.
Foster local comerce, to reduce CO2 emissions due to transportation
of goods
Avoid transgenic products and the pesticidas.
Eat season fruit and vegatables they
are richer in nutrients (the sooner they are consumed after collection
the better) they are cheaper and avoid intensive single crop farming.
Always choose fish from selective fishing gear. Avoid too small fish
and fish from fish farms due to pollution and
destruction of local fishing villages.
From the 17th to 25 th november we celebrate
the European week of reduced waste.:
Use reusable containers for food. Use a flask
for your drinks.
Contribute to reduce waste.
