2. What are Traditional Sport and
Games (TSG)?
TSG are all play, games or sports, created in a
formative process of different ludic activities turning
into more organized activities and games of folk origin,
derived from rituals, folk customs, religious traditions,
military preparations, work routines and also those
created spontaneously (Bronikowska, 2013).

fizycznej na przykładzie wybranych narodów (Seria monografie, no. 414).

3. How we can recognize which
games are traditional?
Folk/traditional games should include physical activity
elements, they have to be based on local or regional
rules including cultural factors (Renson et al.,1988).
They have to be practiced locally and/or regionally. The
historical arising moment is not important to identify a
particular game as traditional.

Pfister (ed.), Spiele der Welt im Spannungsfeld von Tradition und Moderne
(pp. 17-22). Sant Augustion: Academia Verlag.
4. Why we should participate
in traditional folk games?
These activities don’t need large grounds or costly
consumable equipment.
They are simply in design and work out, suitable in all
weather conditions with low cost, space, time, and
equipment, but still capable of promoting values of life
and health-related fitness.
They have their own values, ethics, and aesthetics.

Sports and Games
Platform (ETSGP) ETSGP is an informal initiative that was created as part of a project co-
funded by the Erasmus + program of the European Union.
The European Platform for TSG stands for:
- safeguarding and promoting TSG as a subject on its own right, and
European cultural heritage,
- capitalizing on the potential of TSG to stimulate social inclusion,
education and a common European identity across unique, diverse
cultures.
Vision: a united Europe eternally rich and diverse in TSG
Mission: to serve as a European resource hub that stimulates the sharing
of TSG policy, knowledge and practice, ultimately increasing the
number of institutions and individuals involved in TSG.
