The traditional dresses of Gilgit Baltistan are distinct and represent the region's cultural heritage. Women typically wear caps that come in three styles - modern, Balti, and Iraghi - and are decorated with jewelry called silsila, silla, or tumar depending on the language. Men wear caps that are specific to their area as well, such as khoi caps in Gilgit or nating caps in Baltistan. The dresses also vary between areas, with Balti women wearing colorful dresses with silver or gold trim and Gilgit/Hunza women wearing loose, colorful fraq-style dresses.
