Simon Says is used to teach directions by having students navigate an imaginary neighborhood created with pictures on desks. Students take turns giving directions to locations.
Charades is used to teach sports. Students act out sports using gestures for their teammates to guess. They must answer with the complete sport name.
Singing songs that incorporate movement and miming engages young ESL students. Popular songs like "Head, Shoulders, Knees and Toes" and "Wheels on the Bus" teach parts of the body and have students act out the lyrics. Additional songs from resources can also be adapted for TPR activities.
