The extractive wealth model is often masked in the clothes of the New Economy. The wolves in sheep’s-clothing range from network marketing companies that claim to help you become an entrepreneur to "manifesting abundance" with the Women's Gifting Circles. The presentation will feature illustrative diagrams that explain the difference between regenerative economics and extractive/exploitative economics (even ones that dominate our society). At the end of the slide deck you will be able to easily and quickly identify the toxic mimics and help your community avoid them.
The Problem With Gifting Circles - It isn't a Gift or a CircleAmber Bieg
Have you ever been invited to a Women's Gifting Circle? I have been invited three times in the past few months. In the past few weeks more than five of my friends have been invited by multiple groups. "Gifting Circles" are not circles and the "gifts" are not gifts. These groups are illegal pyramid structures.
Learn more about the details, structure and non-viability of Gifting Circles. I describe in detail how they operate and ultimately fail. They neither create abundance nor empower women. These systems need to stop. We need REAL, sustainable economic empowerment opportunities for women, not scams.

Jacco vanderKooij - This time it’s personal: Business ethics & ego in a globa...SaaStock
The moral imperative for SaaS vendors is the idea that "what got you to this point, will not get you to the next point". Many founders/leaders of a company have achieved their success by bucking the trend and ignoring the advice of trusted advisors. This for many is perceived as having an ego. But this was needed for survival to make it this far. Then suddenly this method stops working. That point has come for many of us, as the problems we face today are far greater than any single company can tackle. It requires companies to work together as a team, it asks for die hard competitors (Apple and Google) to create a unified front, and may even require a joint venture between a multinational and a small start-up with innovative products. This is the time to put your ego in check and let common sense prevail.

What is Cleantech? Cleantech is a broadly inclusive term that refers to companies and technologies that create jobs and deploy new innovations that improve environmental and social sustainability.
Why Idaho? To start, Idaho is rich in natural resources that make cleantech possible: Sun, wind, minerals, available land, and good soil.
Perhaps more importantly, Idaho is also rich in innovation, particularly in the renewable and battery industry. Idaho is stepping into the clean energy spotlight with startups like Joule Case, Retrolux, Clenera (acquired by…), Inovus Solar (acquired by Solar One), Solar Roadways, Kore Power, and Inergy. Idaho also leads with some of the nation’s top energy research institutions, Idaho National Laboratory (INL), leading research and development in batteries, solar, and grid modernization.
Idaho is also rich with smart, talented people working on the world’s biggest energy problems. The Center for Advanced Energy Studies (CAES), a collaboration between INL, Boise State University, University of Idaho, and Idaho State University, hosts over 8,000 researchers working to solve the greatest energy challenges. Also, Idaho hosts two large energy engineering firms, Power Engineers and McMillan-Jacobs, who are both leading in the energy innovation space. Additionally, Idaho is host to more than a dozen B Corp companies — all of which focus on using business as a force for good.
To support these innovators and push for smart economic policy that will create jobs in Idaho, a group of business leaders and policy advocates formed the Idaho Chapter of the CleanTech Alliance in 2020. Idaho Chapter Chair and Retrolux CEO, Leif Elgethun says “Cleantech makes sense in Idaho. We have all the ingredients to build a thriving clean energy industry that will create tens of thousands of additional living-wage jobs, protect our low cost of energy, and ensure our water, air, and land are clean for future generations.” Elgethun and other Idaho CTA members are working with local leaders to position Idaho for investment in cleantech startups, leading to long-term jobs, economic resilience, and a new energy solution and product export industry for Idaho.
With an abundance of wind, sun, affordable land, good academic institutions, support for tech and cleantech innovation, as well as a great quality of life, Idaho is well-poised to take the lead as the clean energy leader. Inc. predicts that Idaho will be the next Silicon Valley with the growth in technology startups. But do we really want to be “the next Silicon Valley?” Perhaps we can do better by investing in cleantech.
We have the key ingredients to build a prosperous clean energy and technology economy while staying true to Idaho’s core values — a sense of community, security, healthy lifestyle, and stewardship of natural resources.
Mining and the Race to Net Zero - The future of miningAmber Bieg
As the world progresses toward the renewable energy transition, the demand for minerals increases exponentially. According to the International Energy Agency (IEA) 2021 Net Zero by 2050 Report, critical mineral production needs to grow six times in order to combat climate change. It’s estimated that four to seven percent of global greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions come from the mining sector’s Scope 1 and 2 (direct and indirect) emissions. Including Scope 3 (upstream, downstream, and embedded) emissions, the sector accounts for 28% of global GHG emissions.
In a typical mining operation, diesel fuel is the biggest source of direct GHG emissions, and haulage is often the main source of diesel emissions. If a mine can electrify its hauling operations, it can significantly reduce GHG emissions and lower costs. Large haul trucks have been the industry standard for over 50 years and offer flexibility, relatively low capital cost (especially with equipment lease options), and guaranteed technology with known maintenance. The challenge will be to justify their continued use when there are more economical options that lead to significant reductions in GHG emissions.
Mining companies are racing to reach net-zero greenhouse gas emissions: Can they accomplish this? How will they get there? This presentation talks about pathways mining companies are taking to reduce greenhouse gas emissions and why it's so important.
Toxic systems are everywhere around us and they can be easily identified with simple math. This presentation features illustrative diagrams that explain the difference between healthy economics and unhealthy money systems (even ones that sound like they help people). At the end of the presentation you will be able to easily and quickly identify the toxic systems, understand how they impact your community and environment and know how to avoid them.

Financial Assets: Debit vs Equity Securities.pptxWrito-Finance
financial assets represent claim for future benefit or cash. Financial assets are formed by establishing contracts between participants. These financial assets are used for collection of huge amounts of money for business purposes.
Two major Types: Debt Securities and Equity Securities.
Debt Securities are Also known as fixed-income securities or instruments. The type of assets is formed by establishing contracts between investor and issuer of the asset.
• The first type of Debit securities is BONDS. Bonds are issued by corporations and government (both local and national government).
• The second important type of Debit security is NOTES. Apart from similarities associated with notes and bonds, notes have shorter term maturity.
• The 3rd important type of Debit security is TRESURY BILLS. These securities have short-term ranging from three months, six months, and one year. Issuer of such securities are governments.
• Above discussed debit securities are mostly issued by governments and corporations. CERTIFICATE OF DEPOSITS CDs are issued by Banks and Financial Institutions. Risk factor associated with CDs gets reduced when issued by reputable institutions or Banks.
Following are the risk attached with debt securities: Credit risk, interest rate risk and currency risk
There are no fixed maturity dates in such securities, and asset’s value is determined by company’s performance. There are two major types of equity securities: common stock and preferred stock.
Common Stock: These are simple equity securities and bear no complexities which the preferred stock bears. Holders of such securities or instrument have the voting rights when it comes to select the company’s board of director or the business decisions to be made.
Preferred Stock: Preferred stocks are sometime referred to as hybrid securities, because it contains elements of both debit security and equity security. Preferred stock confers ownership rights to security holder that is why it is equity instrument
Equity securities as a whole is used for capital funding for companies. Companies have multiple expenses to cover. Potential growth of company is required in competitive market. So, these securities are used for capital generation, and then uses it for company’s growth.
Concluding remarks
Both are employed in business. Businesses are often established through debit securities, then what is the need for equity securities. Companies have to cover multiple expenses and expansion of business. They can also use equity instruments for repayment of debits. So, there are multiple uses for securities. As an investor, you need tools for analysis. Investment decisions are made by carefully analyzing the market. For better analysis of the stock market, investors often employ financial analysis of companies.

is finite: We are
limited by
population,
economy, etc.
It’s exciting to live in a finite world. It causes us to be more creative!
20. Pyramids Increase the Divide Between
Haves and Have-nots!

Gifting Circle Profit Distribution
Women who profit
Women who lose their money
At some point, the circle must collapse, leaving 88%
without ever receiving a gift. Not exactly equitable.
21. But isn’t this better than the 1% taking
all the wealth in the US economy?
The US
economy
Gifting Circle
System
No! The
Gifting Circle
is Worse!
23. The Product Argument: Price Markup Issue
Young Living: 5 ml

24. Scam or Not a Scam?
Coaching Industry
Spiritual Gurus
Transformational
Workshops
It depends on
personal integrity . . .
25. How to know when personal integrity
is in-tact?
Can the participant actually afford to pay for the coaching, workshop, or
seminar? Is it going to cause burdensome debt?
Is the leader/coach/teacher qualified (what degrees or training do they
have)?
Is it priced appropriately?
How are results measured? What are the metrics?
Was there a “hard sell”?
After the emotional hype has waned, does it feel like a scam?
26. Many women can’t afford to lose!
I heard about a
woman who
used her student
loans to join a
pyramid
One woman
cashed out her
small retirement
account to
participate
I know at least
three women
who have
borrowed money
to participate
Desperate
situations . . .
Make easy
targets
27. Why are low-income women targets?
Over 24 million
women live
below the
poverty line in
the US
25% of women
with infants live
in poverty
Only 6% of
mothers in
poverty receive
public
assistance
Women are desperate
for new economic
opportunities
That enable
them to
provide for
their families
Women need truly
sustainable economic
opportunities
Natural targets for scams
28. How to identify a toxic mimic:
Lack of
integrity
Personal:
Deception is

Structural:
Exponential
growth is at
the core
29. Money and Banking: The biggest
pyramid scheme
Debt-based currency with interest
rate assumes infinite exponential
growth!
31. The Biggest Deception
The
Federal
Reserve
Bank
It isn’t “federal”
– it isn’t part of
the government.
It’s a privately
held company.
It doesn’t have
reserves . . . It
creates money
out of thin air.
Just like the “Gifting
Circle” isn’t a GIFT or a
CIRCLE!
34. Economic opportunities for women are
growing
44% of coops are still in
business after 10 years, vs
19% survival rate for non-

Women’s

Women pool
their money and

Philanthropic
women’s groups
that pool their
money and give it to
a particular charity
or cause with a
501c3 tax status.
No financial
commitment,
but emotional

investment and
support.
10 people put in
$100/month and
at different points
of the year, each
person gets back
exactly what they
put in: $1,200.
And yes, there are sustainable Women’s Circles that
do economically empower women!
This is VERY different from the pyramid “Gifting Circle!”
36. There are lots of other ways to give, invest and
receive money that empowers women
Micro-
lending
• Kiva, Prosper,
Accion,
TrickleUp, etc.
Social Impact
Investments
• Investors Circle,
RSF Social
Finance, etc.
Crowd
Sourcing
• Kickstarter,
Indiegogo, etc.
Low interest
loans
• Small Business
Administration
• Rural
Development
This is a way
to legally
fund your

project or
business with
a gift!
Women-run
businesses
qualify for
specific low-
interest loans
If you have
the money to
invest, Social
Impact Funds
vet new
ventures
If you have a
small project,
you can apply
for micro-
credit
37. How do we scale these solutions and
create plenty for all?
Maybe a new currency (metabolic
currency)?
Currency that matches the natural
rate of energy input on the planet?
How do we source it?
Based on an informed guess, hundreds of millions of dollars have been pulled from the hands from economically disadvantaged through toxic mimics
I have an MBA, Sustainable Management from Presidio Graduate School, plus I’ve been suckered and learned
I am passionate about radically re-envisioning our economy
“Each woman gives a gift of $5,000 to another woman to support her in financial empowerment and manifesting her dreams.” “Each woman moves through the circle, arriving at the Dessert position, where you receive eight gifts of $5,000, totaling $40,000.” I could turn $5,000 into $40,000 in just a couple of months – this could pay back my student loans or help with a house downpayment
I could have an amazing support group of other spiritual women – something that I have been missing in my life. “The Circle is a way to achieve personal growth, remove blocks to manifesting, and participate in a path to personal empowerment that teaches us to support each other on many levels.”
Most importantly, A close trusted friend invited me – she and I share a lot of the same values and perspectives on the world.
The first woman didn’t make any investment, but suggested that the women who followed her could earn 8x on their “gift.”
She asked them to “trust their intuition and disregard the negativity bias perpetuated by patriarchal nay-sayers.”
Each gave her $5,000, she promised that together they could bring more women into the group to give gifts and that they too could get $40,000.
Human Population = Probably Not Sustainable: Growth at our current rate of consumption of the Earth’s ecosystem resources will probably lead to ecosystem collapse.
Gifting Circle = Not Sustainable: The growth quickly exceeds economic resource capacity (ability to bring in new women at $5,000), inevitably leading to collapse.
Economic Limit: The total human population on Earth is 7 billion people and the value of the global economy is $69 trillion. It is estimated that the Earth can only support about 12 billion people and the ideal global population is under 1 billion. If everyone in the world lived like even the most economically disadvantaged in the US, we would need 3x the resources.
Gifting Circle Limit: At round 31 in the gifting circle, the number of participants required is 17 billion women, investing $85 trillion, exceeding our economic and human capacity.
Not being happy = looking for something more meaningful and purposeful – making dreams come true. Ought – too many shoulds . . .
