Introduction
The purpose of this book “Towards a Better Life” is to analyse the life’s
issues in order to show how to live a better life.
In this book, life is considered as an important project; a project that we
cannot afford to wait till the end to know our mistakes for it would be too
late for corrections
A project that we should carry out successfully and accurately right from
the start, so we have analysed the objectives of life, the measures of what
is right and what is wrong, explored the causes of success and failure, and
introduced verification tool to distinguish between what is right and what
is wrong
The book is meant to be a call for those who struggle midst the high waves
of life seas to say:
Let us find the rescue route instead of sailing towards many directions and
get lost
Let us admit that we are arguing about the same issues without clear defi-
nitions of the objectives, without accurate measures to make decisions;
each of us would like to prove that he is right and tries to lead others to
what he thinks is the rescue route
Let us admit that the worst thing to do is to continue the arguments till
the end; many people would be led astray because they do not know the right
path to follow
Let us admit that the best thing to do is to provide proofs and evidences
so people may find the truth they are looking for
We all know that things are not improved automatically; when companies want
to improve their business, they bring consultants to analyse the business
and recommend the best systems, procedures and measures in order to improve
business and increase profits
The success of companies depend on the efforts to use good systems, to fol-
low good procedures and to have good measures to evaluate the productivity
and the quality
Similarly, when we seek to live a better life, we should analyse the reli-
gion issues to distinguish between the true teachings and the added or dis-
torted teachings
Analysis of the scriptures shows that there are some distorted verses, it
is necessary to find out what has been distorted, what are the reasons for
the distortion and to clarify such findings in order to make it easy for
those who are looking for the truth
In this book, we analysed the objectives of life from the scriptures, we
identified the guidelines for success and failure and explained some de-
tails on the distorted scriptures
How can we live a better life?
In order to improve our life, we need first to know the objectives of life.
Once we know the objectives, then it would be possible to know which work
or behaviour helps to achieve the objectives
That is what people do with the important projects; they define the objec-
tives in order to measure the work progress against the target objectives.
They also try to identify the risks which might lead to failure and identi-
fy the success factors
If we try to utilize the same approach to our life, we will face a problem
because the objectives of our life are disputed; if we ask many people
about the objectives of life, we get many answers
There are also disputes between the religion teachers; different scholars
teach different teachings about the objectives, the risks and the ways of
success and failure
There must be a problem, because the God who created people wouldn’t leave
them without guidelines of what is right and what is wrong, of the risks
and of the ways to success and failure
Some Jewish scholars like to claim that Jews are the chosen people of God
and that God have favoured them over the non-Jews. Those are not the true
teachings of Moses
Some Christian scholars like to claim that they do not have to do good
works according to the law, because they are the elected, the predestined
and the glorified. Those are not the true teachings of Jesus
Some Muslim scholars like to claim that Jews are cursed, that the Chris-
tians are misled, and that Muslims are the truly guided people who will en-
joy the paradise while non-believers will be subject to eternal damnation.
Again, they repeat the same mistakes when they claim that they are ‘the
guided’. They are wrong according to the teachings of Quran which are the
same conditional teachings like ‘if you obey, you will be guided and if you
obey, you will be blessed’
Moses taught that ‘one measure’ should be used for all people; this should
prove that the distorted teaching of ‘God’s chosen people’ is a wrong
teaching. The fair and wise God who orders Jews to use ‘one measure’ would
not consider the Jews as his own special people and forsake others
Jesus taught that the true measure for salvation should be the good work to
follow God’s law by all people regardless of the sects or the tribes; this
should prove that the distorted teachings of ‘the elected’ or ‘the predes-
tined’ are saved without following the law are wrong teachings
Islam teaches that the Jews who obey the teachings of Moses are saved, The
Christians who obey the teachings of Jesus are saved, and that Muslims are
also tested like others and will also be rewarded according to their faith
and good works as others. Those teachings should prove that the distorted
teachings of ‘Muslims are the truly guided people while others are cursed
or misled’ are wrong teachings
According to the true teachings of Moses, God does not consider the Jews as
his own chosen people and forsake others, the definition of the God’s cho-
sen people is not what the Jewish scholars say, the true definition is what
God has revealed to Moses which is an open invitation to each human to be-
come a God’s chosen person via obedience. The true definition of the God’s
chosen people are those who obey and do good works as written in many vers-
es like Deuteronomy 28, Deuteronomy 30, Exodus 19, Leviticus 20, Leviticus
26 and many other scripture verses
According to the true teachings of Jesus, people are saved by obedience and
by good deeds. Jesus has confirmed the same core religion teachings of all
religions; the obedience to God’s law and that people will be rewarded ac-
cording to their good deeds. The teachings of the elected, the predestined,
the glorified, the sanctified, and those chosen by God before the founda-
tion of the world are not taught by Jesus
According to the true teachings Islam, people are saved by obedience and by
good deeds; Islam does not replace the core religion teachings of other re-
ligions; Islamic teachings confirm the true teachings of Moses and Jesus
There should be no problems if we follow the original prophet’s teachings
which also confirm the guidelines of minds and conscience; the causes of
the problems are the distorted teachings which have been changed and ex-
plained to suit the purposes of the scribes and the scholars
Objectives of our life
Religion teachers should teach that our life on earth is only a primary
testing period. We are not supposed to relax and enjoy ourselves during the
test, we should not expect that the test questions are clearly known in ad-
vance, we should expect difficulties during the test, and we will be re-
warded according to our faith, our obedience, our compassion, and our good
deeds
Although the wise teacher knows the hard working students who will pass the
exam and the careless students who will fail, he prepares regular exams as
testimonies so that the students would not say that the teacher had fa-
voured some students over the others. Exams also urge students to get pre-
pared in order to succeed
The fair teacher promises the students that they will be able to validate
the test results and they will confirm that the results are accurate and
fair
Although God knows what’s in our hearts and what each of us might do, he
tests us and wants us to witness our own test results to admit that we have
been fairly rewarded according to our achievements as recorded in the test
results
Objectives of life according to the teachings of Judaism
God tests you in this primary stage of life – testing period – Exodus 20:20
– Deuteronomy 8:2, Deuteronomy 13:3 to know who obeys and who does not obey
According to the teachings of Moses, people are tested and those who obey
God will be blessed, while those who repel will be cursed
I may test them, whether they will walk in My law or not (Exodus 16:4)
In Exodus 20:20, Moses taught that God tests people so that the fear of God
will be with them to keep them from sinning
The same teaching is also found in Deuteronomy 13:3
God is testing you to find out whether you love him with all your heart and
with all your soul
In Deuteronomy 8:2-3, Moses taught that God tests people in order to know
what is in their heart, whether or not they would keep his commands.
Deuteronomy 4:30 teaches that in tribulations, people would return to God
and obey his voice
The teaching ‘if you come back to God after testing, He will accept you’ is also the ob-
jectives of testing as taught by Jesus in the parable of the rebellious son
(Luke 15) when he was tested, then repented, he had been accepted
The same teachings are confirmed many times in the holy book
Job 23:10 teaches ‘when he has tested me, I will come forth as gold’
Job 5:7 teaches that we are here for testing
‘people are born for trouble as surely as sparks fly upward’
Job 5:17 teaches ‘Blessed is the one whom God corrects; so do not despise the discipline of
God’
PSALM 11:4-5 teaches He watches everyone closely; examining every person on earth.5 God
examines both the righteous and the wicked
Psalm 66:10 teaches ‘For You, O God, have tested us; You have refined us as silver is re-
fined’
PROVERBS 17:3 teaches ‘The refining pot is for silver and the furnace for gold, but God
tests the hearts’
ISAIAH 48:10 teaches ‘I have refined you, but not as silver is refined.
Rather, I have refined you in the furnace of suffering’
Jeremiah 17:10 teaches that God tests us and will reward everyone according
to his works
“I the Lord search the heart
and examine the mind,
to reward each person according to their conduct,
according to what their deeds deserve.”
Objectives of life according to the teachings of Christianity
Jesus taught that all of this life is a test; he taught that we are in a
temporary testing period and we are being prepared for a permanent life. He
also taught that the rewards will be according to our obedience and our
good works
Talking in parables, Jesus taught that God tests us by tribulation, tempta-
tion, trials, persecution and promised rewards in heaven for those who pass
the tests of persecution, temptation, trials, and tribulations
Jesus has taught people to stand up for the truth even if persecuted by the
bad multitudes who hate the truth. He taught that and also demonstrated it
when he stood up for the truth against the bad chief priests who explained
religion to their benefits
Blessed are those who are persecuted because of righteousness, for theirs is the kingdom of
heaven - Matthew 5:10
God has set the world stage for testing; every day we meet hungry and poor;
some will help and some will refuse to help; those are not equally rewarded
Matthew 25:31-45 teach that when we refuse to help the hungry, the
stranger, and the sick, we refuse to help God
“They also will answer, ‘Lord, when did we see you hungry or thirsty or a stranger or needing
clothes or sick or in prison, and did not help you?’
“He will reply, ‘Truly I tell you, whatever you did not do for one of the least of these, you did
not do for me.’
In Matthew 18:23-35 Jesus taught us to forgive in order that God forgives
us; he mentioned that there are rewards for forgiveness and good works
There are much more scripture to confirm that the objective of this tempo-
rary stage of life on earth is testing and that our rewards in the eternal
life depend on the results of that testing; examples are:
Jesus taught that there will be testing and some will fall away in time of
temptation as written in Luke 8:13 and Mark 4:17
Those on the rocky soil are those who, when they hear, receive the word with joy; and these
have no firm root; they believe for a while, and in time of temptation fall away.
Matthew 13:21 confirms the same message
But since they have no root, they last only a short time. When trouble or persecution comes
because of the word, they quickly fall away
Another parable of a testing period and the rewards is Matthew 25:21
“His master replied, ‘Well done, good and faithful servant! You have been faithful with a few
things; I will put you in charge of many things. Come and share your master’s happiness!’
John 18:36 is another example to show that life on earth is not the target
destination
my kingdom is not in earth – but in heaven
That is not just for Jesus, but he taught that we should not have treasures
on earth but to seek the real treasures; the eternal life in heaven
Luke 12:16-21 warn those who store up treasure for themselves, and are not
rich toward God
John 12:25 warn those who love their life in this world
Those who love their life in this world will lose it. Those who care nothing for their life in this
world will keep it for eternity. The same is also confirmed in Matthew 10:39
Similar teaching is mentioned in Luke 9:23
Then he said to them all: “Whoever wants to be my disciple must deny themselves and
take up their cross daily and follow me”.
The same is also mentioned in Mark 8:34
Matthew 13:44 teaches that people should do everything to win God’s rewards
for the righteous, to win the kingdom of heaven
The kingdom of heaven is like treasure hidden in a field, which someone found and hid; then in
his joy he goes and sells all that he has and buys that field
For that objective, he taught that people should pay everything to buy the
eternal life in heaven; he taught that we should sell our life in this
world in order to get the eternal life in heaven
We have the choice to enjoy our life on earth and treasure money ignoring
to feed the hungry or to sell this life and spend our money and efforts to
help the hungry, the persecuted, and those who need help. The second choice
was Jesus recommendation to win the eternal one; the kingdom of heaven
Jesus taught that testing and suffering help to return a person to his
senses; Luke 15:17 teaches that the son came to his senses, after having
undergone suffering
James has taught that testing is a chance for us to grow, develop patience,
and mature in God
James 1:2-4 Consider it pure joy, whenever you face trials of many kinds, because you know
that the testing of your faith produces patience. Let patience finish its work so that you may be
mature and complete
James 1:12 teaches that people will be tested by temptations and urges us
to endure the temptations
Blessed is anyone who endures temptation. Such a one has stood the test and will receive the
crown of life that God has promised to those who love him
Objectives of life according to the teachings of Islam
When we analyse the verses of Quran, we find that it is the same message
revealed by the same God, we also find in Quran that life is a testing pe-
riod and that people will be rewarded according to their obedience and ac-
cording to their good deeds
Quran verse 47:31 clarifies that we are here for testing
And We will surely test you until We make evident those who strive among you [for the cause of
God] and the patient, and We will test your affairs
Verse 29:2-3 confirms that we are here for testing
Do the people think that they will be left to say, "We believe" and they will not be tried?
But We have certainly tried those before them, and God will surely make evident those who are
truthful, and He will surely make evident the liars.
Similar teachings are found in 67:2, 18:7 and 76:2
[He is] The One Who created death and life, so that He may put you to test, to find out which
of you is best in deeds: He is the All-Mighty, the All-Forgiving
Indeed, We have made that which is on the earth adornment for it that We may test them [as
to] which of them is best in deed.
Indeed, We created man from a sperm-drop mixture that We may try him; and We made him
hearing and seeing
And We will surely test you with something of fear and hunger and a loss of wealth and lives
and fruits, but give glad tidings to the patient
5:48 and 6:165 teach that we are in a testing stage and we are supposed to
compete in good deeds to pass the test and earn our salvation
If God wanted He could have made all of you a single nation. But He willed otherwise in order to
test you in what He has given you; therefore try to compete in good deeds. Ultimately you all
shall return to God; then He will show you the truth of those matters in which you dispute.
6:165 He is the One Who has made you the inheritors of the earth and raised some of you in
ranks over others so that He may test you in what He has given you. Surely God is swift in ret-
ribution; yet He is also very Forgiving, Merciful.
5:71 teaches that those who ignore that the objectives of life is testing
are blind and deaf
They thought there would be no trial (or punishment); so they became blind and deaf: yet God
(in mercy) turned to them: yet again many of them became blind and deaf. But God sees well all
that they do
3:179 teaches that God distinguishes the wicked from the good, people are
not supposed to know everything to pass that test, but they are asked to
follow the Prophets
God will not leave the believers in the state in which you are now, until He distinguishes the
wicked from the good. Nor will God disclose to you the secrets of the unseen, but God chooses
of His Messengers whom He pleases. So believe in God and His Messengers. And if you believe
and fear God, then for you there is a great reward
When the religion teachers ignore that fact, they cannot provide logical
answer to the most important people’s question ‘why am I here?’
People have the right to ask ‘Before you tell me what to do, tell me first
why am I here and what are the objective of my life on earth? Why did God
create me?’
If the Jewish scholars ignore that the objective of life is testing and
teach that the Jews are the chosen people of God and they are promised the
blessings because of the faith of their father Ibrahim, then people will
reject such answers because the scripture teaches that God is not biased
and that every person will be judged according to their deeds; not accord-
ing to their fathers faith
If the Christian scholars ignore that the objective of life is a testing
period and teach that the objective is to accept Jesus as a saviour because
we are born sinners and we cannot earn our salvation by good works, people
will refer to the teachings of Jesus himself who taught that life is for
testing and that people can earn their salvation by obedience and by good
works
If the Muslim scholars ignore that the objectives of life is a testing en-
vironment and teach that the objective of life is to worship God, people
would reply that God does not need our prayers
When scientists and philosophers ignore the fact that our life on earth is
only a primary testing and preparation period, they cannot provide logical
answer to the most important question ‘why are we here?, why does God allow
suffering?’
Guidelines for Success & Failure
Those who analyse the teachings of religions would realize that the success
involves obedience and good work to prove the true faith
Business managers do not accept that each employee would choose his own
preferred way for doing business; they do not agree with those who say
‘that is what is convenient for us and that is what our fathers used to do
Driven by profit, productivity, and business improvement requirements, man-
agers bring external consultants who do not have the pre-imposed limita-
tions, they also consult other business in different countries, then they
ask everyone to follow the same recommended procedures
Success and failure according to the original gifts
The God who created people has empowered them with original gifts; the
gifts of minds, intelligence, and the conscience are internal personal
Prophets for each human to guide him to the basic measures of the good
things to do and the bad things to avoid
Before we present the success guidelines according to what God has revealed
to the Prophets, we start with the teachings of the normal wise people who
did not claim that they were prophets. The purpose is to clarify that the
guidance provided by the original gifts of intelligence and conscience is
similar to the guidance provided by the prophets
The purpose also is to clarify that those who never heard of Prophets are
not forsaken because God has equipped them by internal prophets and they
will be guided to the wisdom by their original gifts
Those who never heard of Prophets might have an easier test; they might be
saved if they follow their conscience. Those who know the teachings of the
prophets have a more difficult test; they have to obey prophet’s teachings
in addition to following their original gifts
The fair teacher prepares easy tests for the children who are in their
first grade because they receive little education, but he prepares more
complex tests for the students of the advanced degrees who receive more ed-
ucation
The common ground of all religions and all different sources of wisdom is
‘the golden rule’
What you do not want done to yourself, do not do to others.
Confucius
Do not do unto others whatever is injurious to yourself. – Zoroaster, Shayast-na-
Shayast 13.29
“Do not do to others what angers you if done to you by others.” - Socrates
"What thou avoidest suffering thyself seek not to impose on others."— Epictetus (55-135)
"Do not do to others what would anger you if done to you by others." – Isocrates
Putting oneself in the place of another, one should not kill nor cause another to kill – Buddha
One who, while himself seeking happiness, oppresses with violence other beings who also desire
happiness, will not attain happiness hereafter. – Buddha, Dhammapeada, 10
“Resolve to be tender with the young, compassionate with the aged, sympathetic with the
striving and tolerant with the weak and wrong. Sometime in your life, you will have been all of
these.” Gautama Buddha
No one saves us but ourselves. No one can and no one may. We ourselves must walk the path
― Gautama Buddha, Sayings Of Buddha
“Remember always that you are just a visitor here, a traveller passing through. Your stay is but
short and the moment of your departure unknown.”
Dhammavadaka
“It is a man's own mind, not his enemy or foe, that lures him to evil ways.”
― Gautama Buddha
“Long is the night to him who is awake; long is a mile to him who is tired; long is life to the fool-
ish who do not know the true law.”
― Gautama Buddha
Do not believe in anything simply because you have heard it.
Do not believe in anything simply because it is spoken and rumored by many.
Do not believe in anything simply because it is found written in your religious books.
Do not believe in anything merely on the authority of your teachers and elders.
Do not believe in traditions because they have been handed down for many generations.
But after observation and analysis, when you find that anything agrees with reason and is condu-
cive to the good and benefit of one and all, then accept it and live up to it
― Gautama Buddha
“Peace comes from within. Do not seek it without.”
Gautama Buddha
Take small account of might, wealth and fame, for they soon pass and are forgotten. Instead,
nurture love within you and strive to be a friend to all. Truly, compassion is a balm for many
wound
Faith is like a lamp and wisdom makes the flame burn bright. Carry this lamp always and in good
time the darkness will yield and you will abide in the Light
Dhammavadaka
However many holy words you read, however many you speak, what good will they do you if you
do not act on upon them? Buddha
Hatred does not cease by hatred, but only by love; this is the eternal rule
Buddha
One should never do that to another which one regards as injurious to one’s own self. This, in
brief, is the rule of dharma. Other behaviour is due to selfish desires. – Brihaspati, Ma-
habharata. Hinduism
Analysis of those teachings show that they are similar to the prophet’s
teachings, similar spiritual fruits from similar gardens watered by the
same spring , inspired and gifted by the same great creator
He who sows the ground with care and diligence acquires a greater stock of religious merit than
he could gain by the repetition of ten thousand prayers
Zoroaster (c.628 - c.551)
It is the greatest good for an individual to discuss virtue every day...for the unexamined life is
not worth living - Socrates
The safest course is to do nothing against one's conscience. With this secret, we can enjoy life
and have no fear from death - Voltaire
The above refers to the original gifts like the conscience and the intelli-
gence; those are internal prophet within each human to guide him to what is
the right thing to do and to warn him about the bad things to avoid
All sects are different, because they come from men; morality is everywhere the same, because
it comes from God. - Voltaire
Men are equal; it is not birth but virtue that makes the difference.
Voltaire
There is no harm when we follow such wise teachings taught by those spir-
itual leaders who taught wisdom in order to enable us to know the truth, so
that the truth will set us free
Those wise people were humble, who came to serve others, who accepted per-
secutions in order to guide the humanity, who did not claim to be of divine
nature, who did not ask people to worship them
We do not have full knowledge about God, we cannot say that he allows temp-
tations so he is a bad God, we cannot say that since God allows suffering
then he is a bad God. God has revealed that we are being tested and there
are many things we do not know. That was valid thousands of years ago, it
is valid now, it will be valid until the end of that temporary life
Job did not claim to be a Prophet and he did not claim that he had received
revelations from God, but his understanding was based on the original
gifts; the mind and the conscience. He understood that the spirit in us is
the breath of God which makes us understand
But it is the spirit in man, the breath of the Almighty that makes him understand
Job 32:8
In his simple statement, he taught that the human mind is not like the
stand-alone computer of limited memory and intelligence, but it is connect-
ed to the network of unlimited source of wisdom; connected to God. God does
not store everything in the human minds, but he listens, communicates, an-
swers the prayers, and enlightens us so that we know what is right and what
is wrong, and provides much more resources of wisdom to those who use their
original gifts, to those who think and who communicate with their con-
science
When the student ignores to study his books; we cannot blame the teacher
who gave the books and who urged the students to study hard in order to
succeed. Similarly, we cannot blame God who gifted people with minds and
conscience when people fail to think
Those who think, and ask God to help them understand, they could be guided
to the wisdom
The religion teachers who teach that ‘Only our Prophet is the real Prophet
of God, only our religion is the true religion, we have the only way for
salvation” those must be wrong because they cannot prove that other Proph-
ets are wrong; only God knows those who have received his revelations
We do not have enough knowledge to say “that person have not received reve-
lation from God”, but we can compare the teachings against the teachings of
Moses, Jesus and the similar consistent teachings by other Prophets and we
can always ask God to guide us to the truth; the God who created us knows
how to deliver his message to the people he created and he knows how to an-
swer our prayers
Guidelines for success and failure according to Judaism
In order to succeed, we have to obey God and to keep his commands
Deuteronomy 13:3-4 God is testing you to find out whether you love him with all your heart
and with all your soul. - It is God you must follow, and him you must revere.
Keep his commands and obey him; serve him and hold fast to him
God has promised blessings for obedience and curses for disobedience
Deuteronomy 11:26-28 See, I am setting before you today a blessing and a curse, the
blessing if you obey the commands of God that I am giving you today; the curse if you disobey
the commands of God and turn from the way that I command you today
Deuteronomy 32:46-47 "he said to them, “Take to heart all the words I have solemnly de-
clared to you this day, so that you may command your children to obey carefully all the words of
this law. They are not just idle words for you—they are your life.
Deuteronomy 28:2-6 confirms and reiterates the same message
All these blessings will come on you and accompany you if you obey God: You will be blessed in
the city and blessed in the country.
The fruit of your womb will be blessed, and the crops of your land and the young of your live-
stock—the calves of your herds and the lambs of your flocks.
Your basket and your kneading trough will be blessed. You will be blessed when you come in and
blessed when you go out.
The most frequent teachings of the Old Testimony are 'blessings for obedi-
ence & Curses for dis-obedience
Deuteronomy 30:15-16 See, I set before you today life and prosperity, death and destruc-
tion. For I command you today to love God, to walk in obedience to him, and to keep his com-
mands, decrees and laws; then you will live and increase, and God will bless you in the land you
are entering to possess.
Deuteronomy 30:19 This day I call the heavens and the earth as witnesses against you that I
have set before you life and death, blessings and curses. Now choose life, so that you and your
children may live
Deuteronomy 10:12-13 what does God ask of you but to fear God, to walk in all his ways, to
love him, to serve God with all your heart and with all your soul, 13and to observe the
LORD's commands and decrees that I am giving you today for your own good?
The same consistent teachings are also confirmed in Deuteronomy 7:12-16,
Deuteronomy 11:13-15, Deuteronomy 15:5-6, Leviticus 26
Deuteronomy 29: 9 also urges people to follow the law in order to succeed
Therefore keep the words of this covenant and do them that you may prosper in all that you do
Similar teachings are also mentioned in Deuteronomy 28:15-20, 28:47-48,
28:58-59, 30:8-10, and in many other verses
Deuteronomy 4:2 "Do not add to what I command you and do not subtract from it, but keep
the commands of God that I give you.
Deuteronomy 6:4-9 “Hear, O Israel! The LORD is our God, the LORD is one! “You shall
love the LORD your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your might.
“These words, which I am commanding you today, shall be on your heart. “You shall teach them
diligently to your sons and shall talk of them when you sit in your house and when you walk by
the way and when you lie down and when you rise up.
“You shall bind them as a sign on your hand and they shall be as frontals on your forehead. “You
shall write them on the doorposts of your house and on your gates
Deuteronomy 11:18-20 Fix these words of mine in your hearts and minds; tie them as sym-
bols on your hands and bind them on your foreheads.
Teach them to your children, talking about them when you sit at home and when you walk along
the road, when you lie down and when you get up. Write them on the doorframes of your houses
and on your gates
Deuteronomy 30:11-14 Now what I am commanding you today is not too difficult for you
or beyond your reach.
It is not up in heaven, so that you have to ask, “Who will ascend into heaven to get it and pro-
claim it to us so we may obey it?
Nor is it beyond the sea, so that you have to ask, “Who will cross the sea to get it and proclaim
it to us so we may obey it?” No, the word is very near you; it is in your mouth and in your heart
so you may obey it.
Moses taught that Justice should be granted to all – one measure for the
citizens and the strangers
Leviticus 19:34 The alien living with you must be treated as one of your native-born. Love
him as yourself, for you were aliens in Egypt
The same message of loving the foreigners was confirmed in Deuterono-
my 10:19, and Leviticus 19:34
Deuteronomy 10:19 And you are to love those who are foreigners, for you yourselves were
foreigners in Egypt
Leviticus 19:34 The foreigner residing among you must be treated as your native-born. Love
them as yourself
In Deuteronomy 10:13-29, Moses has summarized what God wants from us.
These verses teach us that God is just and merciful; he likes us to be just
and merciful to orphans, strangers, and widows, to worship him as the only
God and to obey his law
Deuteronomy 10:12-13 - And now, Israel, what does the Lord your God require of you?
He requires only that you fear the Lord your God, and live in a way that pleases him, and love
him and serve him with all your heart and soul. And you must always obey the Lord’s commands
and decrees that I am giving you today for your own good
Deuteronomy 10:17-19 teach that God is great, mighty, awesome, does not
show partiality; reminds us of the justice for the orphan and the widow
For the LORD your God is the God of gods and the Lord of lords, the great, the mighty, and the
awesome God who does not show partiality nor take a bribe. He ensures that orphans and widows
receive justice. He shows love to the foreigners living among you and gives them food and
clothing. So you, too, must show love to foreigners, for you yourselves were once foreigners in
the land of Egypt
Deuteronomy 27:19 Cursed is anyone who withholds justice from the foreigner, the orphan,
or the widow
Deuteronomy 24:17 Do not deprive the foreigner or the fatherless of justice, or take the
cloak of the widow as a pledge
Deuteronomy 24:14 -15 Do not take advantage of a hired worker who is poor and needy,
whether that worker is a fellow Israelite or a foreigner residing in one of your towns.
Pay them their wages each day before sunset, because they are poor and are counting on it.
Otherwise they may cry to the Lord against you, and you will be guilty of sin
Exodus 23:2 is a warning to those who follow the majority
Do not follow the crowd in doing wrong. When you give testimony in a lawsuit, do not pervert
justice by siding with the crowd
Joshua 1:7-8 teaches people to keep God’s Law always on their lips
Be strong and very courageous. Be careful to obey all the law my servant Moses gave you; do not
turn from it to the right or to the left, that you may be successful wherever you go.
Keep this Book of the Law always on your lips; meditate on it day and night, so that you may be
careful to do everything written in it. Then you will be prosperous and successful
The core teachings of Moses are also confirmed by the Prophets; they have
also taught that God revealed the laws that are just and right, but most
people became arrogant and did not obey God’s commands
1 kings 3:9-14 teaches that when Solomon asked for wisdom to distinguish
between what is right and what is wrong; God was pleased that Solomon had
asked for the wisdom and not for long life or wealth. God have answered his
prayers and asked him to continue to obey God
That is the conditions of answering the prayers; to obey God. It is not a
free gift to certain people; Obedience is a condition for answering the
prayers
Our life consists of a number of days, with each day passes, we lose a part
of our life – this should urge us to think, what is the most important
thing to do – to Get wisdom
Similar teachings are taught by David and Solomon
Psalm 90:12 teach us that we should be wise and know that our life consists
of days, each day passes, part of our life is cut; this wisdom helps to
bring us closer to God
So teach us to number our days that we may get a heart of wisdom
Proverbs 17:15 states:
He who justifies the wicked, and he who condemns the righteous, both of them alike are an
abomination unto God
That should be considered as a warning to the teachers who promise free
salvation to the sinners without advising them to obey God’s law
In Psalms 1:1-2 David teaches that there are wicked people who choose the
way of sinners and there are righteous people who choose to obey; he did
not teach that people are born sinners
Blessed is the man who does not walk in the counsel of the wicked or stand in the way of sinners
or sit in the seat of mockers. But his delight is in the law of the LORD, and on his law he medi-
tates day and night
Psalms 4:4 teaches that people are chosen because of their obedience
That teaching clarifies that the choice is not because of the righteousness
of their fathers, but because they have obeyed God
Psalms 5:11-12 But let all who take refuge in you be glad; let them ever sing for joy. Spread
your protection over them that those who love your name may rejoice in you. For surely, O
LORD, you bless the righteous; you surround them with your favor as with a shield
Psalm 5:8-12 teach that God punishes the wicked and blesses and protects
the righteous
Psalms 25:10 teaches that the mercy of God is near to those who keep his
law

Blessed are they who keep his statutes and seek him with all their heart
Psalms 37:4-6 Delight yourself in the LORD and he will give you the desires of your
heart. Commit your way to the LORD; trust in him and he will do this:
He will make your righteousness shine like the dawn, the justice of your cause like the noonday
sun
Psalms 41:1-2
Blessed is he who has regard for the weak; the LORD delivers him in times of trouble.
The LORD will protect him and preserve his life; he will bless him in the land and not surrender
him to the desire of his foes
Psalms 115:11 You who fear him, trust in the Lord - he is their help and shield
Similar teachings are also written in Psalms 18:2 and 28:7
Proverbs 30:5 teaches us to trust in God’s words and to take refuge in God
as our shield
Every word of God proves true; he is a shield to those who take refuge in him
Psalms 84:11 and Psalm 18:30 teach that God is the Shield and Refuge to any
obedient person; not only to Abraham or Prophets
For the LORD God is a sun and shield; The LORD gives grace and glory; No good thing does He
withhold from those who walk uprightly Psalms 84:11
This God – his way is perfect; the word of the LORD proves true; he is a shield for all those who
take refuge in him Psalm 18:30
Solomon also reiterated that wisdom in Proverbs 30:5
He is a shield to those who take refuge in Him
But let all who take refuge in you rejoice; let them ever sing for joy, and spread your protection
over them, that those who love your name may exult in you
Psalm 5:11
Trust in the LORD with all your heart, and do not lean on your own understanding. In all your
ways acknowledge him, and he will make straight your paths
Proverbs 3:5-6
The LORD also will be a refuge for the oppressed, a refuge in times of trouble Psalm 9:9
Trust in him at all times, O people; pour out your heart before him; God is a refuge for us
Psalm 62:8
Trust in the LORD forever, for the LORD GOD is an everlasting rock
Isaiah 26:4
God is our refuge and strength, a very present help in trouble
Psalm 46:1
Obedience to God's law and doing good deeds are prescribed as the way for
success by the Prophets
Psalms 112:1-8 urge people to obey God’s commands
Blessed is the man who fears the LORD, who finds great delight in his commands.
His children will be mighty in the land; the generation of the upright will be blessed. Wealth and
riches are in his house, and his righteousness endures forever.
Even in darkness light dawns for the upright, for the gracious and compassionate and righteous
man. Good will come to him who is generous and lends freely, who conducts his affairs
with justice. Surely he will never be shaken; a righteous man will be remembered forever.
He will have no fear of bad news; his heart is steadfast, trusting in the LORD. His heart is se-
cure, he will have no fear
Psalms 119:1-2 Blessed are they whose ways are blameless, who walk according to the law of
the LORD. Blessed are they who keep his statutes and seek him with all their heart
Proverbs 14:21 He who despises his neighbour sins, but blessed is he who is kind to the
needy
Proverbs 3:27-29 teach high moral values of fairness, generosity, and peace
Do not withhold good from those who deserve it, when it is in your power to act. Do not say to
your neighbour, "Come back later; I'll give it tomorrow" when you now have it with you. Do not
plot harm against your neighbor, who lives trustfully near you
Proverbs 3:33-34 teach that God gives grace to those who humble themselves
and he does not like the proud mockers
The LORD's curse is on the house of the wicked, but he blesses the home of the righteous. He
mocks proud mockers but gives grace to the humble
Proverbs 22:9 teaches generosity and urges people to feed the hungry
A generous man will himself be blessed, for he shares his food with the poor
Proverbs 19:17 teaches kindness
He who is kind to the poor lends to the LORD, and he will reward him for what he has done
Proverbs 28:27 He who gives to the poor will lack nothing, but he who closes his eyes to them
receives many curses
Proverbs 1:7 teaches that wise people should fear God
The fear of the Lord is the beginning of knowledge, but fools despise wisdom and knowledge
Proverbs 3:13-15 urge people to seek wisdom
Blessed are those who find wisdom, those who gain understanding, for she is more profitable
than silver and yields better returns than gold. She is more precious than rubies; nothing you
desire can compare with her
Proverbs 11:6 teaches that people can determine their fate by their deeds
The righteousness of the upright delivers them, but the unfaithful are trapped by evil desires
Proverbs 16:8 Better a little with righteousness than much gain with injustice
Proverbs 19:16-17 Whoever keeps commandments keeps their life, but whoever shows con-
tempt for their ways will die. Whoever is kind to the poor lends to the Lord, and he will reward
them for what they have done
Proverbs 20:10 Differing weights and differing measures; God detests them both
Proverbs 20:22-23 teach forgiveness and fairness
Do not say, “I’ll pay you back for this wrong!” Wait for the Lord, and he will avenge you.
God detests differing weights and dishonest scales do not please him
Proverbs 21:3 means Justice better than sacrifice
Proverbs 21:13 means whoever does not answer the poor, God will not answer
him
Psalm 10:18 urges people to bring justice to the orphans and to defend the
oppressed
Bring justice to the orphans and the oppressed, so mere people can no longer terrify them
Proverbs 24:11-12 urges us to help those led away to death and those stag-
gering toward slaughter by the unjust authorities
Rescue those being led away to death; hold back those staggering toward slaughter.
If you say, “But we knew nothing about this,” does not he who weighs the heart perceive it?
Does not he who guards your life know it? Will he not repay everyone according to what they
have done?
According to the wisdom taught by verses like Proverbs 24:11-12, Psalm
10:18, Isaiah 1:23 and Isaiah 58, we should not turn a blind eye to the bad
leaders who kill their own people and destroy their own countries in order
to stay in power; we should not say that those conflicts are not a threat
to our national security. Scholars should not continue to teach that the
existing authorities must have been ordained by God
Killing the innocent people is against the teachings of all religions
Killing the innocent people is against the guidelines of the conscience and
the intelligence even for those who do not believe in God and for those who
ignore the religion teachings
Proverbs 24:29 teaches forgiveness
Do not say, “I’ll do to them as they have done to me; I’ll pay them back for what they did.”
Proverbs 28:4-9 teach that those who disobey the law support the wicked and
urge those who obey to resist the wicked
Those who forsake the law praise the wicked, but those who keep the law resist them
Evil men do not understand justice, but those who seek the LORD understand it fully.
Better a poor man whose walk is blameless than a rich man whose ways are perverse.
He who keeps the law is a discerning son, but a companion of gluttons disgraces his father.
He who increases his wealth by exorbitant interest amasses it for another, who will be kind to
the poor. If anyone turns a deaf ear to the law, even his prayers are detestable
The verses reminds us that the setup of the testing environment allows the
co-existence of good and evil; that is also taught by Jesus in Matthew
13:24-29
Ecclesiastes 12:13-14 summarize some important teachings
Now all has been heard; here is the conclusion of the matter:
Fear God and keep his commandments, for this is the duty of all mankind.
For God will bring every deed into judgment, including every hidden thing,
whether it is good or evil.
Isaiah 56:1-2 Maintain justice and do what is right, for my salvation is close at hand and my
righteousness will soon be revealed. Blessed is the man who does this, the man who holds it
fast, who keeps the Sabbath without desecrating it, and keeps his hand from doing any evil
Isaiah 5:20 Woe unto them who call evil good, and good evil; who put darkness for light, and
light for darkness; who put bitter for sweet, and sweet for bitter!
Isaiah 1:15-17 explain the reasons for not answering the prayers and pro-
vide prescriptions for acceptance of prayers
When you spread out your hands in prayer, I hide my eyes from you;
even when you offer many prayers, I am not listening.
Your hands are full of blood! Wash and make yourselves clean.
Take your evil deeds out of my sight; stop doing wrong. Learn to do right; seek justice.
Defend the oppressed. Take up the cause of the fatherless; plead the case of the widow
Isaiah 2:4 urges us to stop the wars, to use our tools for agriculture
purposes not for military purposes
They will hammer their swords into plow-blades and their spears into pruning-knives;
nations will not raise swords at each other, and they will no longer learn war
The wisdom taught by such verses is to use our resources to increase the
prosperity in order to feed more people instead of using the military hard-
ware to destroy the cities and to kill people
Isaiah 60:18 No longer will violence be heard in your land, nor ruin or destruction within your
borders
Isaiah 30:9-10 and Isaiah 30:12-14 warn those who ignore the true scripture
and teach interesting stories
For these are rebellious people, deceitful children,
children unwilling to listen to the Lord’s instruction.
They say to the seers, “See no more visions!” and to the prophets,
“Give us no more visions of what is right! Tell us pleasant things, prophesy illusions”
Because you have rejected this message, relied on oppression and depended on deceit, this sin
will become for you like a high wall, cracked and bulging, that collapses suddenly, in an instant.
It will break in pieces like pottery
Isaiah 30:15 teaches in repentance and obedience is your salvation
Isaiah 40:25-28 teach to think of God and of the universe
“To whom will you compare me? Or who is my equal?” says the Holy One.
Lift up your eyes and look to the heavens: Who created all these?
Isaiah 59:2 But your iniquities have separated you from your God; your sins have hidden his
face from you, so that he will not hear
Isaiah 46:9 Remember the former things, those of long ago; I am God, and there is no oth-
er; I am God, and there is none like me
Isaiah 48:18 If only you had paid attention to my commands, your peace would have been
like a river, your well-being like the waves of the sea
Isaiah 42:21 teaches that God could have consider them righteous if they
had glorified the law
Isaiah 58:6-11 teach that the true worships are not the prayers, the fast-
ing and the rituals, but are to loosen the chains of injustice, to defend
the oppressed, to feed the hungry and to help others
Such verses are sample prescriptions for those who seek righteousness and
those who want God to answer their prayers
It is not impossible for people to follow such wisdom and to transform
earth into a paradise
“Is not this the kind of fasting I have chosen: to loose the chains of injustice
and untie the cords of the yoke, to set the oppressed free and break every yoke?
Is it not to share your food with the hungry and to provide the poor wanderer with shelter -
when you see the naked, to clothe them, and not to turn away from your own flesh and blood?
Then your light will break forth like the dawn, and your healing will quickly appear;
then your righteousness will go before you, and the glory of the Lord will be your rear guard.
Then you will call, and the Lord will answer; you will cry for help, and he will say: Here am I
Isaiah 3:5 People will oppress each other - man against man, neighbor against neighbor. The
young will rise up against the old, the nobody against the honored.
He explained the reason of those disasters in 3:8-9 because they did not
obey God but they chose to repel and have rewarded evil unto themselves
Isaiah 3:10-15 teach that it is good to eat the fruit of our labour and
warn the unjust authorities which mislead people
Tell the righteous it will be well with them, for they will enjoy the fruit of their deeds.
Woe to the wicked! Disaster is upon them! They will be paid back for what their hands have
done.
My people, your guides lead you astray; they turn you from the path.
The Lord takes his place in court; he rises to judge the people. The Lord enters into judgment
against the elders and leaders of his people:
“It is you who have ruined my vineyard; the plunder from the poor is in your houses.
What do you mean by crushing my people and grinding the faces of the poor?”
Isaiah 9:14-16 warns the false teachers who teach distorted teachings and
who mislead people
Micah 3:11 warns the bad religion teachers
The heads thereof judge for reward, and the priests thereof teach for hire, and the prophets
thereof divine for money
Isaiah 9:15-16 warn the religion teachers who teach lies to mislead people
the elders and dignitaries are the head, the prophets who teach lies are the tail. Those who
guide this people mislead them, and those who are guided are led astray.
Isaiah 1:23 warns the unjust authorities
Your rulers are rebels, partners with thieves; they all love bribes and chase after gifts. They do
not defend the cause of the fatherless; the widow’s case does not come before them
2 Chronicles 7:14 teaches that God answers the prayers of the repented sin-
ners
if my people, who are called by my name, will humble themselves and pray and seek my face and
turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven, and I will forgive their sin and will
heal their land
Success and failure according to Christianity
Jesus taught that when we obey God and do good works; we will pass the test
of this world and will become qualified to receive God’s rewards in heaven
In Matt 5:13-16, Jesus taught that the believers should act as the salt to
protect against corruption and as a light to guide others to the truth
You are the salt of the earth; but if the salt has become tasteless, how can it be made
salty again? It is no longer good for anything, except to be thrown out and trampled underfoot
by men
You are the light of the world. A city set on a hill cannot be hidden; nor does anyone light a
lamp and put it under a basket, but on the lampstand, and it gives light to all who are in the
house. “Let your light shine before men in such a way that they may see your good works, and
glorify your Father who is in heaven
The same is also written in mark 9:50 and Luke 14:34-35
In Matt 7:7-11, Jesus urged the believers to ask God and to knock the door;
he wanted us to trust that God answers our prayers
Ask, and it will be given to you; seek, and you will find; knock, and it will be opened to you.
For everyone who asks receives, and he who seeks finds, and to him who knocks it will be
opened. Or what man is there among you who, when his son asks for a loaf, will give him a
stone? “Or if he asks for a fish, he will not give him a snake, will he?
“If you then, being evil, know how to give good gifts to your children, how much more will your
Father who is in heaven give what is good to those who ask Him!
The same is also written in Luke 11:9-13
In Matt 7:13-14, Jesus warned those who follow the majority
Enter through the narrow gate; for the gate is wide and the way is broad that leads to
destruction, and there are many who enter through it.
For the gate is small and the way is narrow that leads to life, and there are few who find it
Most people ignore that teachings and say ‘As long as I am with the major-
ity, I should be fine’, but they are wrong according to the teachings of
Jesus in Luke 13:24-27, Matthew 7:13-14
In Matt 7:15-20, Jesus warned from the false teachers who mislead people;
he advised us to identify them from their bad deeds
Beware of the false prophets, who come to you in sheep’s clothing, but inwardly are ravenous
wolves. You will know them by their fruits. Grapes are not gathered from thorn bushes nor figs
from thistles, are they? So every good tree bears good fruit, but the bad tree bears bad fruit.
A good tree cannot produce bad fruit, nor can a bad tree produce good fruit.
Every tree that does not bear good fruit is cut down and thrown into the fire. So then, you will
know them by their fruits
The same is also written in Luke 6:43-44
In Matt 12:38-39, Jesus blamed those who asked him to perform miracles
Then some of the scribes and Pharisees said to Him, “Teacher, we want to see a sign from
You.” But He answered and said to them, “An evil and adulterous generation craves for a sign;
and yet no sign will be given to it but the sign of Jonah the prophet
The same is also written in Mark 8:11-12, luke 11:29-32
In Matthew 7:21-23 Jesus warned of the false teachers who claim to perform
miracles; he advised that only the believers who obey will enter the king-
dom of heaven
Not everyone who says to me, ‘Lord, Lord,’ will enter the kingdom of heaven, but only the one
who does the will of my Father who is in heaven. Many will say to me on that day, ‘Lord, Lord,
did we not prophesy in your name and in your name drive out demons and in your name perform
many miracles?’ Then I will tell them plainly, ‘I never knew you. Away from me, you evildoers!
The same is also written in Luke 13:25-27
In Matthew 22:35-40, Jesus confirmed the teachings of the Old Testimony
like Deuteronomy 6:5 and Leviticus 18:4-5
You must love God with all your heart, all your soul, and all your mind.' This is the first and
greatest commandment. A second is equally important: 'Love your neighbor as yourself.' All the
other commandments and all the demands of the prophets are based on these two
commandments
In Luke 10:25-28 Jesus was asked
“Teacher, what shall I do to inherit eternal life?” He said to him, “What is written in the Law?
How do you read it?” And he answered, “You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart and
with all your soul and with all your strength and with all your mind, and your neighbor as
yourself.” And he said to him, “You have answered correctly; do this, and you will live.”
The same teaching is written in Mark 12:28-34
Mark 12:33 teaches: And to love one’s neighbour as himself, is much more than all burnt
offerings and sacrifices
What Jesus taught here is not different from the wisdom taught by the old
testimony Hosea 6:6
For I desire mercy and not sacrifice, And the knowledge of God more than burnt offerings
In Mark 10:17-19 Jesus did not accept the title of ‘Good Teacher’ and said
Why do you call me good? No one is good but God alone; he confirmed the law, he did
not mention the atonement or the mistake of Adam or that he came to die for
the sinners. Like other Prophets, he has simply confirmed the law
"Good Teacher, what must I do to inherit eternal life?"
Jesus said to him, "Why do you call me good? No one is good but God alone.
You know the commandments: 'You shall not murder; You shall not commit adultery; You shall not
steal; You shall not bear false witness; You shall not defraud; Honor your father and mother.'"
The same teachings are written in Matthew 19:16-19 and in Luke 18:18-20
Luke 12:16-21 is a parable to warn most people who treasure for tomorrow
while turning a blind eye to the hungry people we see everyday
Then he told them a parable: "The land of a rich man produced abundantly. And he thought to
himself, 'What should I do, for I have no place to store my crops?'
Then he said, 'I will do this: I will pull down my barns and build larger ones, and there I will
store all my grain and my goods. And I will say to my soul, 'Soul, you have ample goods laid up for
many years; relax, eat, drink, be merry.'
But God said to him, 'You fool! This very night your life is being demanded of you. And the
things you have prepared, whose will they be?' So it is with those who store up treasures for
themselves but are not rich toward God."
John 12:25 warns those who like to "live it up" urging them to prepare for
the eternal life
Those who love their life in this world will lose it. Those who care nothing for their life in this
world will keep it for eternity
The same is also confirmed in Matthew 10:39 and Matthew 16:25
The same is also mentioned in Luke 9:23-25, Mark 8:34-35
Matthew 13:44 teaches us to give everything to obey so that we get God’s
rewards for the righteous
The kingdom of heaven is like treasure hidden in a field, which someone found and hid; then in
his joy he goes and sells all that he has and buys that field
James 4:1-5 also warns those who compete to enjoy the pleasures of this
life
What causes fights and quarrels among you? Don't they come from your desires that battle
within you? You want something but don't get it.
You kill and covet, but you cannot have what you want. You quarrel and fight. You do not have,
because you do not ask God. When you ask, you do not receive, because you ask with wrong
motives, that you may spend what you get on your pleasures.
You adulterous people, don't you know that friendship with the world is hatred toward
God? Anyone who chooses to be a friend of the world becomes an enemy of God
John 15:10-11 reminds us of the rewards for obedience
If you keep my commandments, you will abide in my love, just as I have kept my Father's
commandments and abide in his love.
I have said these things to you so that my joy may be in you, and that your joy may be complete
Luke 6:27-36 and Matthew 5:38-42 set the high standard for wise dealing
with others; such teachings would replace hatred by compassion and would
transform earth into a paradise
But I say to you that listen, Love your enemies, do good to those who hate you, bless those who
curse you, pray for those who abuse you. If anyone strikes you on the cheek, offer the other
also; and from anyone who takes away your coat do not withhold even your shirt.
Give to everyone who begs from you; and of him who takes away your goods do not ask them
again. And as you wish that men would do to you, do so to them
But love your enemies, do good, and lend, expecting nothing in return. Your reward will be great,
and you will be children of the Most High; for he is kind to the ungrateful and the wicked. Be
merciful, just as your Father is merciful
Matthew 7:12 reminds us of the “Golden Rule”, the common ground wisdom
taught by all wise teachers
So whatever you wish that men would do to you, do so to them; for this is the law and the
prophets
Matthew 6:24 urges us to shift from the material life into a spiritual life
No one can serve two masters; for a slave will either hate the one and love the other, or be
devoted to the one and despise the other. You cannot serve God and wealth
Matthew 12:50 teaches that the real family of the prophet are the obedient
believers
For whoever does the will of my Father in heaven is my brother and sister and mother
Luke 6:46-48 teaches that solid faith foundations are based on obedience to
the teachings
Why do you call me 'Lord, Lord,' and do not do what I tell you? I will show you what someone is
like who comes to me, hears my words, and acts on them. That one is like a man building a house,
who dug deeply and laid the foundation on rock; when a flood arose, the river burst against that
house but could not shake it, because it had been well built
The same is also taught in John 14:15 and John 14:21
If you love me, you will keep my commandments
John 14:21 They who have my commandments and keep them are those who love me; and
those who love me will be loved by my Father, and I will love them and reveal myself to them
In Matthew 25:31-45 Jesus described the final judgment as being based on
good works; he clarified that those who obey the law will be saved
Salvation is not based solely on belief and nothing else; salvation is not
granted to those who merely profess acceptance of Jesus without actually
performing kind or compassionate deeds
Jesus did not teach that a man is justified by faith without the deeds of
the law; In Matthew 16:27 and John 5:29, Jesus has confirmed that God will
reward each person according to his deeds; those are the basic teachings of
the old testimony like the verses taught in Psalm 62:12, Ecclesiastes
12:14, and many other old testimony verses
Matthew 25:41-46 teach that when we give the poor, we give to God
Then shall he say also unto them on the left hand, Depart from me, ye cursed, into everlasting
fire, prepared for the devil and his angels: For I was an hungred, and ye gave me no meat:
I was thirsty, and ye gave me no drink: I was a stranger, and ye took me not in: naked, and ye
clothed me not: sick, and in prison, and ye visited me not. Then shall they also answer him,
saying, Lord, when saw we thee anhungred, or athirst, or a stranger, or naked, or sick, or in
prison, and did not minister unto thee? Then shall he answer them, saying, Verily I say unto you,
Inasmuch as ye did it not to one of the least of these, ye did it not to me.
And these shall go away into everlasting punishment: but the righteous into life eternal.
Matthew 6:19-20 is an advice to have Treasures in heaven, not in earth
Do not store up for yourselves treasures on earth, where moths and vermin destroy, and where
thieves break in and steal. But store up for yourselves treasures in heaven, where moths and
vermin do not destroy, and where thieves do not break in and steal. For where your treasure is,
there your heart will be also.
Matthew 13:18-23 is a parable on those who accept the teachings and do good
deeds
Listen then to what the parable of the sower means: When anyone hears the message about the
kingdom and does not understand it, the evil one comes and snatches away what was sown in
their heart. This is the seed sown along the path. The seed falling on rocky ground refers to
someone who hears the word and at once receives it with joy. But since they have no root, they
last only a short time. When trouble or persecution comes because of the word, they quickly fall
away. The seed falling among the thorns refers to someone who hears the word, but the
worries of this life and the deceitfulness of wealth choke the word, making it unfruitful. But
the seed falling on good soil refers to someone who hears the word and understands it. This is
the one who produces a crop, yielding a hundred, sixty or thirty times what was sown
In Matthew 15:6-9 Jesus faced those who nullify the word of God for the
sake of their traditions
they are not to ‘honor their father or mother’ with it. Thus you nullify the word of God for the
sake of your tradition. You hypocrites! Isaiah was right when he prophesied about you:
“‘These people honor me with their lips, but their hearts are far from me.
They worship me in vain; their teachings are merely human rules.”
The same teaching that they ignore God’s law and prefer fathers traditions
is also mentioned in Mark 7:6-9
And He said to them, “Rightly did Isaiah prophesy of you hypocrites, as it is written:
‘THIS PEOPLE HONORS ME WITH THEIR LIPS, BUT THEIR HEART IS FAR AWAY
FROM ME. ‘BUT IN VAIN DO THEY WORSHIP ME, TEACHING AS DOCTRINES THE
PRECEPTS OF MEN.’ “Neglecting the commandment of God, you hold to the tradition of men.”
He was also saying to them, You are experts at setting aside the commandment of God in
order to keep your tradition
In Luke 13:3 and13:5, Jesus taught that repentance is necessary for salva-
tion
But unless you repent, you too will all perish
Matthew 3:8-10 clarifies that prophets preach of repentance
Prove by the way you live that you have repented of your sins and turned to God. Don’t just say
to each other, ‘We’re safe, for we are descendants of Abraham.’ That means nothing, for I tell
you, God can create children of Abraham from these very stones. Even now the ax of God’s
judgment is poised, ready to sever the roots of the trees. Yes, every tree that does not
produce good fruit will be chopped down and thrown into the fire
Matthew 3:2 and 4:17 shows that John and Jesus preached repentance
Repent of your sins and turn to God, for the Kingdom of Heaven is near
Matthew 9:13 teaches that Jesus came to call the sinner to repentance
I desire mercy, and not sacrifice, for I came not to call the righteous, but sinners to repentance
In Luke 15:7 and 15:10, Jesus taught that there is joy in heaven over re-
pentant sinner
I tell you that even so there will be more joy in heaven over one sinner who repents, than over
ninety-nine righteous people who need no repentance.
Even so, I tell you, there is joy in the presence of the angels of God over one sinner repenting
Luke 15: 32 clarifies that the Repentant Sinner was dead and is alive again
But it was appropriate to celebrate and be glad, for this, your brother, was dead, and is alive
again. He was lost, and is found
James 5:19-20 urge us to guide the lost person to the truth and to bring
him back to God
My brothers, if one of you wanders from the truth, and someone causes him to return, you
should know that whoever turns a sinner from his wandering path will save him from death and
cover many sins
In John 5:30-31 and 12:49-50 Jesus taught that he is only delivering the
message of God
I can do nothing on my own. I judge as God tells me. Therefore, my judgment is just, because I
carry out the will of the one who sent me, not my own will.
If I were to testify on my own behalf, my testimony would not be valid
I don’t speak on my own authority. The Father who sent me has commanded me what to say and
how to say it. And I know his commands lead to eternal life; so I say whatever the Father tells
me to say
In John 17:3, Jesus taught that the father is the only true God
Now this is eternal life: that they know you, the only true God, and Jesus Christ, whom you have
sent
James 1:5 urges us to ask God for wisdom
If any of you lacks wisdom, you should ask God, who gives generously to all without finding fault,
and it will be given to you
James 1:22-26 urge us to be doers of the law, and not hearers only
But don’t just listen to God’s word. You must do what it says. Otherwise, you are only fooling
yourselves. For if you listen to the word and don’t obey, it is like glancing at your face in a
mirror. You see yourself, walk away, and forget what you look like.
But if you look carefully into the perfect law that sets you free, and if you do what it says and
don’t forget what you heard, then God will bless you for doing it. If you claim to be religious but
don’t control your tongue, you are fooling yourself, and your religion is worthless
James 2:14 and 2:17 teach that faith without works is dead
What does it profit, my brethren, if someone says he has faith but does not have works? Can
faith save him?
Thus also faith by itself, if it does not have works, is dead
Success and failure according to the teachings of Islam
Quran Verse 2:136 of Quran urges us to follow what God has revealed to the
Prophets
Say: "We believe in God and that which is revealed to us; and what was revealed to Abraham,
Ishmael, Isaac, Jacob and their descendants, and that which was given to Moses, Jesus, and
other Prophets from God. We do not discriminate any of them, and to God we have surrendered
ourselves
Verse 42:13 teaches that there is one religion revealed by God to all
Prophets
He has ordained for you of religion what He enjoined upon Noah and that which We have
revealed to you, and what We enjoined upon Abraham and Moses and Jesus - to establish the
religion and not be divided therein. Difficult for those who associate others with God is that to
which you invite them. God chooses for Himself whom He wills and guides to Himself whoever
turns back [to Him]
7:96 confirms the ‘blessings for obedience and the curses for disobedience’
– the same teachings of other prophets
And if the people of the towns had believed and kept from evil, surely We should have opened
for them, blessings from the sky and from the earth; but they rejected (the truth) and We
seized them on account of what they used to earn
14:7 teaches that God rewards the grateful and punishes the ungrateful
And when your Lord proclaimed: If ye give thanks, I will give you more; but if ye are thankless,
my punishment is dire
45:30-31 the believers who obey and do good deeds will be blessed
So as for those who believed and did righteous deeds, their Lord will admit them into His mercy.
That is what is the clear attainment. But as for those who disbelieved, [it will be said], "Were
not Our verses recited to you, but you were arrogant and became a people of criminals?
7:35 comforts those who accepted and obeyed the prophets; no fears; no
grieves. The verse is to all people, not to Muslims only
O children of Adam, if there come to you messengers from among you relating to you My verses,
then whoever fears Allah and reforms - there will be no fear concerning them, nor will they
grieve
7:42 teaches that those who believe and do righteous deeds will be rewarded
an eternal life in paradise. The verse is also to all people, not to
Muslims only
But those who believed and did righteous deeds - We charge no soul except [within] its capacity.
Those are the companions of Paradise; they will abide therein eternally
103:1-3 teach that mankind is in loss Except for those who have believed and done
righteous deeds and advised each other to truth and advised each other to patience
30:41 teaches that Evil and the curses are the results of disobedience
Evil has appeared throughout the land and sea by [reason of] what the hands of people have
earned so He may let them taste part of [the consequence of] what they have done that
perhaps they will return [to righteousness]
7:164 urges us to guide the lost person to the truth and to bring him back
to God
And when asked: "Why do you preach to a people whom God is about to destroy or to punish with
a severe torment?" (The preachers) said: "In order to be free from guilt before God, and
perhaps they may fear God."
3:92 teaches that the evidence to the true belief is to spend money to sup-
port the poor
You can never attain righteousness unless you spend on others out of what you cherish
yourselves; and whatever you spend - verily, God has full knowledge thereof
71:10 urges us to repent and pray to request God’s forgiveness
saying: "Seek forgiveness of God, He is ever ready to forgive you. He will shower upon you
heavenly blessings abundant, And will help you with wealth and children, and will provide Gardens
and Rivers
Many verses like 11:51, 34:47, 6:90, 12:104, 34:39, and 36:21 teach that
true Prophets do not accept any reward for preaching the truth
O my people! I do not ask you any reward for my services; for none can reward me except my
creator. Will you not then use your common sense?
The same is also taught by many Prophets in 26:145, 26:164, and 26:180
11:117 teaches that God does not punish the obedient righteous
God wouldn’t have destroyed the villages unjustly while their habitants were righteous
41:30-31 teaches that the believers who obey God will be supported by an-
gels in this life and in the hereafter
As for those who say: "Our Lord is God," and then stay firm on it, the angels will descend on
them, saying: "Let nothing fear or grieve you. Rejoice for the good news of paradise that has
been promised to you. We are your protectors in this life and in the hereafter. There you shall
find all that your souls desire and all that you can ask for
40:51 teaches that God supports the prophets and the believers in this life
and hereafter
We verily do help Our messengers, and those who believe, in the life of the world and on the day
when the witnesses arise
The same is confirmed in other verses like 37:171-172
10:62-64 teach that the righteous have nothing to fear, and neither shall
they grieve
Oh, verily, the righteous have nothing to fear, and neither shall they grieve, Those who believe
and obey. For them there is the glad tiding [of happiness] in the life of this world and in the life
to come; [and since] nothing could ever alter [the outcome of] God's promises, this, this is the
supreme triumph!
41:46 teaches that people have the choice to do either good deeds or bad
deeds and that God does not predetermine the punishment or the rewards be-
fore the people are born and before they have a change to do any good or
bad deeds
He who does good deeds, does it for his own soul; and he who commits evil does so at his own
peril: God is never unjust to people
38:28 clarifies that God does not treat the obedient believers as the wick-
ed
Shall We treat those who believe and do good works as those who spread corruption in the
earth; or shall We treat the Pious as the wicked?
16:90 reminds us about justice, spending to support the poor, and warns of
immorality and oppression
Indeed, God orders justice and good conduct and giving to relatives and forbids immorality and
bad conduct and oppression. He admonishes you that perhaps you will be reminded
12:105 teaches that there are enough signs in the heavens and on earth to
guide people to God
There are many signs in the heavens and the earth which they pass by; yet they pay no attention
to them!
16:10-14 mention some signs like the rain, the fruits, the night, the day,
the sun, the moon, the sea as a source of food and to enable transportation
via ships, etc. (such signs should make people grateful)
He causes to grow for you thereby the crops, olives, palm trees, grapevines, and from all the
fruits. Indeed in that is a sign for a people who give thought. And He has subjected for you the
night and day and the sun and moon, and the stars are subjected by His command. Indeed in
that are signs for a people who reason. And [He has subjected] whatever He multiplied for you
on the earth of varying colors. Indeed in that is a sign for a people who remember
And it is He who subjected the sea for you to eat from it tender meat and to extract from it
ornaments which you wear. And you see the ships plowing through it, and [He subjected it] that
you may seek of His bounty; and perhaps you will be grateful
30:21-23 remind us of some signs like our creation, marriage, creation of
the heavens and the earth, different languages, colors, our sleep, and
earning our living; all those are signs we should think of
And of His signs is that He created you from dust; then, suddenly you were human beings
dispersing [throughout the earth]. And of His signs is that He created for you from yourselves
mates that you may find tranquillity in them; and He placed between you affection and mercy.
Indeed in that are signs for a people who give thought. And of His signs is the creation of the
heavens and the earth and the diversity of your languages and your colors. Indeed in that are
signs for those of knowledge.
And of His signs is your sleep by night and day and your seeking of His bounty. Indeed in that
are signs for a people who listen
30:44-45 teach that it is up to people to believe or to disbelieve; free
will, no predestinations
The wise judge does not judge based on any predetermined thoughts or forced
conditions, but he judges based on the freedom of choices
Whoever disbelieves - upon him is [the consequence of] his disbelief. And whoever does
righteousness - they are for themselves preparing,
That He may reward those who have believed and done righteous deeds out of His bounty.
Indeed, He does not like the disbelievers
6:116 teaches that the majority do not follow the truth but follow opinions
and guesses
If thou obey most of those on earth they would mislead thee far from God's way. They follow
nothing but an opinion, and they do but guess
38:24 teaches that the majority is not right (and the true obedient believ-
ers are not the majority – but those are the minority)
in fact many partners are unjust to one another; except those who believe and do good deeds,
and they are few indeed
This is similar to the wisdom taught by Moses in Exodus 23:2
This is similar to the wisdom taught by Jesus when he mentioned the narrow
gate in Luke 13:24-27 and in Matthew 7:13-14
33:67-68 is a scene from the hereafter to teach that those who follow the
arrogant leaders will be misled
And they will say: Our God! we obeyed our leaders and our great men, and it is they who have led
us astray from the right path! Our God! Give them double punishment and curse them with a
great curse
34:32 teaches that those who followed the arrogant leaders are also guilty
The arrogant ones will say to the weak who followed them: "Was it we who kept you back from
Guidance after it reached you? Nay! Rather you yourselves were guilty."
28:8 teaches that the soldiers who execute the commands of the wicked au-
thorities are also sinners
Pharaoh and Haman and their soldiers were deliberate sinners
15:42 teaches that the devil does not have authority to force people to sin
you will not have any authority over My devotees except those misguided ones who follow you
16:99 teaches that obedient believers can resist devil’s temptations
surely the devil has no authority over those who believe and put their trust in God
17:65 teaches that the devil has no authority to mislead people (they can
resist temptations)
as for the obedient , you shall have no authority over them. God is sufficient as their Guardian
27:83-85 is a scene from the hereafter, when we are asked ‘what else have
you been doing?’
On that Day We shall gather from every nation a multitude of those who disbelieved Our
revelations; then they shall be arranged in classifications according to their merits,
until when they have all arrived, God will ask: "Did you deny My revelations without gaining their
comprehensive knowledge? If not this, what else were you doing?
The sentence will be carried out against them for the consequence of their wrongdoings and
they will not be able to utter a word
28:65-66 is also a scene from the hereafter to warn those who reject the
Prophets
Let them also not forget that, on that Day, He will call them and ask: "How did you answer Our
messengers? "but all arguments and excuses will by then have been erased from their minds, and
they will not [be able to] obtain any [helpful] answer from one another
6:120 teaches us to be transparent; we should not have any bad thoughts
But abstain from sinning, be it open or secret - for, behold, those who commit sins shall be
punished for all that they have earned
61:2-3 teaches that God does not like those who talk about good deeds but
who fail to do so
O believers! Why do you say one thing and do another? It is very hateful in the sight of God
that you say something which you don't do
25:43-44 warns those who follow their desires instead of following God’s
commands
Have you ever seen the one who has taken his own desires as his god? Would you take the
responsibility of guiding him? Or do you think that most of them listen or try to understand?
They are nothing but animals - nay, they are even further off track!
16:105 teaches that the disbelievers are liars (because they conceal the
proofs of existence of God which they see everywhere)
Surely those who do not believe in the revelations of God, are the ones who forge the falsehood
and they are the ones who are liars!
27:14 teaches that some people reject God’s signs and revelations although
they know that the signs and revelations are true
And they rejected those Signs in iniquity and arrogance though their souls were convinced
thereof: so see what was the end of those who acted corruptly!
16:22 teaches that non-believers are arrogant (those are arrogant because
they conclude that there is no God and there is no hereafter without enough
knowledge – they acted like the child who has limited knowledge but makes
conclusions about the advanced science theories)
Your God is One God. But as for those who believe not in the Hereafter their hearts refuse to
know, for they are arrogant
23:64-66 is a scene from the hereafter to warn those who prefer to live a
luxury life ignoring God’s message
Till when We grasp those who enjoyed a luxury life with the punishment, behold! they supplicate.
We shall say: "Do not cry for help this Day, for surely from Us you shall receive no help.
Time and again were My messages conveyed unto you, but [every time] you would turn about on
your heels
46:20 is a scene from the hereafter to warn the arrogant people who did not
obey but chose to enjoy a luxury life
And on the Day when the disbelievers will be brought within sight of the hell, [they will be told:]
"You have exhausted your [share of] good things in your worldly life, having enjoyed them
[without any thought of the hereafter]: and so today you shall be requited with the suffering of
humiliation for having gloried on earth in your arrogance offending against all that is right, and
for all your iniquitous doings!"
That is similar to the wisdom taught by Jesus in Luke 16:25
4:150-152 Warns those who reject some of the prophets
those who disbelieve in God and His messengers, and seek to make distinction between God and
His messengers, and say: We believe in some and disbelieve in others, and seek to choose a way
in between; these are the real unbelievers and We have prepared for such unbelievers a
humiliating punishment. As for those who believe in God and His messengers and do not
discriminate between any of them, We shall give them their due rewards. God is Forgiving,
Merciful
7:30 teaches that God does not mislead people, but people are misled when
they follow the devils temptations
To one group He has guided while the other group deserved to be left in error due to their own
choice; for they followed the devils instead of God yet they think that they are guided
7:146 teaches that God does not guide the arrogant who ignore the signs and
deny God’s message
I will turn away from My signs the eyes of those who are unjustly arrogant on earth, so that
even if they see each and every sign they will not believe in it. If they see the Right Way before
them they will not follow it; but if they see a crooked way they will follow it; this is because
they denied Our revelations and were heedless of them
This is similar to the wisdom taught by Isaiah in Isaiah 30:9-11
6:119 teaches that many are led astray by their own lusts through ignorance
15:56 teaches that we should never despair of God’s mercy
Who would despair of the mercy of his God except one who goes astray?
4:97 is a scene from hereafter to teach that people should not submit to
the unjust authorities which does not allow justice or religion freedom
as for those whom the angels take (in death) while they wrong themselves, (the angels) will ask:
In what were ye engaged? They will say : We were oppressed in the land. (The angels) will say:
Was not God’s earth spacious that ye could have migrated therein? As for such, their habitation
will be hell, an evil journey's end
28:59 teaches that God does not punish without sending messengers; he pun-
ishes the wrongdoers
God would never destroy the towns until He had sent a messenger, proclaiming to them Our
revelations; and We would not destroy towns except when their dwellers had become
wrongdoers
7:28 teaches that we should not automatically inherit the bad habits of the
disobedient parents
Whenever they commit a shameful deed, they say: "We found our forefathers doing this and
God Himself has commanded us to do so." Tell them: "Nay! God never commands what is
shameful. Do you attribute to God something about which you have no knowledge?
37:69-70 warn those who blindly follow the father’s religion
They indeed found their fathers astray, and they are eagerly following their footsteps
The same is confirmed in 43:23-25
Rather, they say, "Indeed, we found our fathers upon a religion, and we are in their footsteps
[rightly] guided."And similarly, We did not send before you any warner into a city except that
its affluent said, "Indeed, we found our fathers upon a religion, and we are, in their footsteps,
following."[Each Warner] said, "Even if I brought you better guidance than that [religion] upon
which you found your fathers?" They said, "Indeed we, in that with which you were sent, are
disbelievers." So we took retribution from them; then see how was the end of the deniers
16:35 warns those who say that it is all decided by God and we do not have
decisions about faith matters
And the idolaters say: "If God wanted, neither we nor our forefathers would have worshipped
anyone else but Him, nor made anything unlawful without His will." Such excuses were put
forward also by those who went before them. Yet messengers have no more responsibility than
to convey the Message clearly
16:53 reminds us about God’s gifts and the fact that he is the only refuge
we seek in real disasters
Whatever gifts you enjoy are from God, and when touched by distress, He is
the One to Whom you cry for help
16:83 warns those who enjoy the gifts of God but are ungrateful
They recognize the gifts of God, yet they deny them; most of them are ungrateful disbelievers
17:14 is a scene from the hereafter teaches that each person will validate
his records of his deeds
Here is your book of deeds: read it. Today you yourself are sufficient to take your own account
17:15 teaches that God enables people to choose their faith, they will be
rewarded according to their deeds, and there is no punishment for those who
do not know about the Prophets
Whoever chooses to follow the right path, follows it but for his own good; and whoever goes
astray, goes but astray to his own hurt; and no bearer, of burdens shall be made to bear
burdens of others. Moreover, We do not inflict punishment until We send forth a messenger to
make truth distinct from falsehood
17:72 warns those who turn a blind eye to the signs of God in this world
that they will be blind in the hereafter
But those who have turn a blind eye to the signs of God in this world will be blind in the
hereafter, rather worse than blind in finding the Way to Salvation
20:124-127 warn those who turn a blind eye to the signs of God in this
world that they will be blind in the hereafter
And whoever turns away from My remembrance - indeed, he will have a depressed life, and We
will gather him on the Day of Resurrection blind."
He will say, "My Lord, why have you raised me blind while I was [once] seeing?" [God] will say,
"Thus did Our signs come to you, and you forgot them; and thus will you this Day be forgotten."
And thus do We recompense he who transgressed and did not believe in the signs of his Lord.
And the punishment of the Hereafter is more severe and more enduring
21:24 teaches that most unbelievers do not know the truth
But most of them have no knowledge of the truth, and that is why they have turned away
43:7 teaches that people used to persecute the Prophets
But there would not come to them a prophet except that they used to ridicule him
23:44 teaches that people hate the true teachings of the prophets
- and sent forth Our messengers one after another: every time a messenger came to his peo-
ple, they disbelieved him, so We punished them one by one and made them a history; so away
with a people who do not believe
21:35 teaches that we will be tested by bad and good things before we re-
turn to God
Every human being is bound to taste death; and We test you [all] through the bad and the good
[things of life] by way of trial: and unto Us you all must return
23:55-58 teach that gifts in this life are not rewards to the chosen, but
are means to testing.
Do they think that, in giving them wealth and sons, We are eager for their welfare? By no
means! They do not understand the reality of the matter. Surely those who live cautiously for
fear of God, And those who believe in the signs and revelations of God and who do not worship
other than God, who do good deeds, and their hearts are full of fear by the very idea that they
shall have to return to God, These race to do good deeds, and they shall win them in the race
27:14 al warns those who reject the signs of God although they know that
they are true signs and revelations
- and in their wickedness and self-exaltation they rejected them, although their minds were
convinced of their truth: and behold what happened in the end to those spreaders of corruption!
28:50 warns those who follow their desires without guidance from God
And since they cannot respond to this thy challenge, know that they are following only their own
desires: and who could be more astray than he who follows [but] his own desires without any
guidance from God? Verily, God does not grace with His guidance the evildoers
29:60 teaches that God provides the means of living to people and to the
animals (which cannot store food for future use)
How many creatures are there that do not carry their provisions with them? God provides for
them as He provides for you. It is He Who is All-hearing, All-knowing
32:12 is a scene from the hereafter to warn those who fail to do good deeds
If only you could visualize when the criminals will hang their heads before God saying: "Our God!
We have seen and we have heard; please send us back to the world and we will do good deeds: we
are now convinced."
32:22 warns those who ignore God’s signs
Who could be more unjust than the one who is reminded of the signs and revelations of God and
he turns away from them? Surely We shall punish such criminals
33:39 teaches that God will reward those who deliver his messages and fear
none save God (the verse does not mention the reward; but say that those
are very special people to God; God knows how to reward his very special
people)
Those Who deliver the messages of God and fear Him, and fear none but God. God knows how to
settle their account
34:25-26 teach that everyone will be judged for his deeds only (not for the
mistakes of fathers or others)
Say: You will not be asked of what we committed, nor shall we be asked of what you do
Say: Our Lord will bring us all together, then He will judge between us with truth. He is the All
knowing Judge
34:34 warns the wealthy people who are usually the first people to reject
the prophets
Whenever We have sent a Warner to a town, its wealthy residents have said: "We surely
disbelieve in what you are sent with"
35:32 teach that some of those who inherit the scripture are bad and some
are good
Then We gave the Scripture as inheritance unto those whom We elected. But of them are some
who wrong themselves and of them are some who are lukewarm and of them are some who
outstrip (others) through good deeds, by God's leave. That is the great favour!
35:37 is a scene from the hereafter to explain the conditions of the diso-
bedient who wish to go back to life to do good deeds (although they are
granted enough time to demonstrate their behaviour)
And they cry for help there, (saying): Our Lord! Release us; we will do right, not (the wrong)
that we used to do. Did not We grant you a life long enough for who reflected to reflect
therein? And the Warner came unto you. Now taste (the flavour of your deeds), for evil doers
have no helper
38:14 warns those who reject the Prophets
All rejected the apostles, so My Punishment came justly and inevitably (on them)
40:60 warns those who do not ask God for guidance
And your Lord says: "Call on Me; I will answer your (Prayer): But those who are too arrogant to
obey Me will surely find themselves in Hell in humiliation!"
41:53 urges us to think about God’s signs
We will show them Our signs in the horizons and within themselves until it becomes clear to
them that it is the truth
39:59-61 is a scene from the hereafter to warn the arrogant who deny the
signs and revelations
Then God will say to him: "My revelations did come to you; but you denied them, were arrogant
and you were among the disbelievers."
On the Day of Judgement you shall see that the faces of those who uttered falsehood against
God shall be darkened. Is there not an abode in hell for such arrogant?
And God will save those who feared Him by their attainment; no evil will touch them, nor will
they grieve
40:81 warns those who ignore God’s signs which he shows everywhere
Thus, He shows you His signs; then, which signs of God you will deny?
42:40 teaches that it is better to forgive than to return evil for evil
And the retribution for an evil act is an evil one like it, but whoever pardons and makes
reconciliation - his reward is [due] from God . Indeed, He does not like wrongdoers
42:43 urges us to be patient and to forgive
And whoever is patient and forgives - indeed, that is of the matters [requiring] determination
43:20 warns those who worship other Gods and claim that they do not have a
choice to choose the right faith
And they said, "If the Most Merciful had willed, we would not have worshipped them." They
have of that no knowledge. They are not but falsifying
43:36-37 warns those who ignore God Guidance that they will be misled by
devils
And whoever is blinded from remembrance of the Most Merciful - We appoint for him a devil,
and he is to him a companion. And indeed, the devils avert them from the way [of guidance] while
they think that they are [rightly] guided
43:72 Teaches that people are rewarded according to their deeds (God does
not create people as holy or sinners. He does not determine their salva-
tion, but he delegates that task to each person)
And that is Paradise which you are made to inherit for what you used to do
45:15 teaches that people determine their fate by their deeds
Whoever does a good deed - it is for himself; and whoever does evil - it is against the self. Then
to God you will be returned
45:21-22 teach that God distinguishes the righteous from the evil doers
Or do those who commit evils think We will make them like those who have believed and done
righteous deeds - [make them] equal in their life and their death? Evil is that which they judge.
And God created the heavens and earth in truth and so that every soul may be recompensed for
what it has earned, and they will not be wronged
45:28-31 explains a scene from the hereafter; people will be rewarded for
their deeds, all deeds are recorded
You shall see every nation on its knees. Every nation shall be summoned to its book of record,
and God will say: "Today you shall be rewarded for your deeds. This book of Ours speaks about
you with the truth. Surely We have recorded all your deeds."
As for those who believed and did righteous deeds, their God will admit them into His mercy.
That will be a glorious achievement.
But as to those who disbelieved, God will say: "Were My revelations not recited to you? But you
showed arrogance and chosen to be criminals"
46:13 teaches that the obedient believers can earn their salvation
Indeed, those who have said, "Our Lord is God ," and then remained on a right course - there will
be no fear concerning them, nor will they grieve
51:50 teaches that God is the only refuge to flee to. The verse does not
mention the sources of the risks to flee from; the only safe haven from all
disasters is God
So flee to God . Indeed, I am to you from Him a clear Warner
63:10 urges us to spend money to support the poor
And spend [in the way of God ] from what We have provided you before death approaches one
of you and he says, "My Lord, if only You would delay me for a brief term so I would give charity
and be among the righteous."
76:27 warns those who just enjoy life and forget to think about their sal-
vation
Indeed, those [disbelievers] love the immediate life and leave behind them a grave Day
80:34-37 warn about the Day of Judgment
On the Day a man will flee from his brother, And his mother and his father, And his wife and his
children, on that Day, to every one of them will his own state be of sufficient concern
24:22 urges forgiveness
“...and you should forgive And overlook: Do you not like God to forgive you? And God is The
Merciful Forgiving.”
83:2-3 urges justice
“Woe to those... who, when they have to receive by measure from people, they demand exact full
measure, but when they have to give by measure or weight to people, give less than due”
4:8-9 urge people to take care of the orphans and the needy
“...orphans and the needy, give them something and speak kindly to them. And those who are
concerned about the welfare of their own children after their death, should have fear of God
[Treat other people's Orphans justly] and guide them properly.”
2:267 urge people to spend of the good things that they have earned
“O you who believe! Spend [benevolently] of the good things that you have earned... and do not
even think of spending [in alms] worthless things that you yourselves would be reluctant to ac-
cept.”
RELIGION DISTORTION
Amos 8:11-12 teaches that people will be thirsty for the true word of God
but they will not find it anywhere
Jeremiah warned of the scribes who change the word of God
Jeremiah 8:8-13 “‘How can you say, “We are wise, for we have the law of the Lord,”
when actually the lying pen of the scribes has handled it falsely?
Since they have rejected the word of the Lord, what kind of wisdom do they have?
Jeremiah 6:13 warns the priests who are greedy for gain and who practice
deceit
Jeremiah 5:30-31 A horrible and shocking thing has happened in the land:
The prophets prophesy lies, the priests rule by their own authority, and my people love it this
way
Jeremiah 23:16 warns of the false teachers who fill people with false
hopes
They speak visions from their own minds, not from the mouth of the Lord
Jeremiah 23:21 and 14:14 warn of the false teachers who claim that they re-
ceive God’s revelations

Towards a better life

  • 1. Towards a better life Table of Contents
  • 2. Introduction How can we live a better life? Objectives according to Judaism Objectives according to Christianity Objectives according to Islam Success and failure according to the original gifts Success and failure according to Judaism Success and failure according to Christianity Success and failure according to Islam How did the Jewish scribes distort the teachings of Judaism? How did the Christians distort the teachings of Christianity? How did the Muslims distort the teachings of Islam?
  • 3. Introduction The purpose of this book “Towards a Better Life” is to analyse the life’s issues in order to show how to live a better life. In this book, life is considered as an important project; a project that we cannot afford to wait till the end to know our mistakes for it would be too late for corrections A project that we should carry out successfully and accurately right from the start, so we have analysed the objectives of life, the measures of what is right and what is wrong, explored the causes of success and failure, and introduced verification tool to distinguish between what is right and what is wrong The book is meant to be a call for those who struggle midst the high waves of life seas to say: Let us find the rescue route instead of sailing towards many directions and get lost Let us admit that we are arguing about the same issues without clear defi- nitions of the objectives, without accurate measures to make decisions; each of us would like to prove that he is right and tries to lead others to what he thinks is the rescue route Let us admit that the worst thing to do is to continue the arguments till the end; many people would be led astray because they do not know the right path to follow Let us admit that the best thing to do is to provide proofs and evidences so people may find the truth they are looking for We all know that things are not improved automatically; when companies want to improve their business, they bring consultants to analyse the business
  • 4. and recommend the best systems, procedures and measures in order to improve business and increase profits The success of companies depend on the efforts to use good systems, to fol- low good procedures and to have good measures to evaluate the productivity and the quality Similarly, when we seek to live a better life, we should analyse the reli- gion issues to distinguish between the true teachings and the added or dis- torted teachings Analysis of the scriptures shows that there are some distorted verses, it is necessary to find out what has been distorted, what are the reasons for the distortion and to clarify such findings in order to make it easy for those who are looking for the truth In this book, we analysed the objectives of life from the scriptures, we identified the guidelines for success and failure and explained some de- tails on the distorted scriptures How can we live a better life? In order to improve our life, we need first to know the objectives of life. Once we know the objectives, then it would be possible to know which work or behaviour helps to achieve the objectives That is what people do with the important projects; they define the objec- tives in order to measure the work progress against the target objectives. They also try to identify the risks which might lead to failure and identi- fy the success factors If we try to utilize the same approach to our life, we will face a problem because the objectives of our life are disputed; if we ask many people about the objectives of life, we get many answers There are also disputes between the religion teachers; different scholars teach different teachings about the objectives, the risks and the ways of success and failure
  • 5. There must be a problem, because the God who created people wouldn’t leave them without guidelines of what is right and what is wrong, of the risks and of the ways to success and failure Some Jewish scholars like to claim that Jews are the chosen people of God and that God have favoured them over the non-Jews. Those are not the true teachings of Moses Some Christian scholars like to claim that they do not have to do good works according to the law, because they are the elected, the predestined and the glorified. Those are not the true teachings of Jesus Some Muslim scholars like to claim that Jews are cursed, that the Chris- tians are misled, and that Muslims are the truly guided people who will en- joy the paradise while non-believers will be subject to eternal damnation. Again, they repeat the same mistakes when they claim that they are ‘the guided’. They are wrong according to the teachings of Quran which are the same conditional teachings like ‘if you obey, you will be guided and if you obey, you will be blessed’ Moses taught that ‘one measure’ should be used for all people; this should prove that the distorted teaching of ‘God’s chosen people’ is a wrong teaching. The fair and wise God who orders Jews to use ‘one measure’ would not consider the Jews as his own special people and forsake others Jesus taught that the true measure for salvation should be the good work to follow God’s law by all people regardless of the sects or the tribes; this should prove that the distorted teachings of ‘the elected’ or ‘the predes- tined’ are saved without following the law are wrong teachings Islam teaches that the Jews who obey the teachings of Moses are saved, The Christians who obey the teachings of Jesus are saved, and that Muslims are also tested like others and will also be rewarded according to their faith and good works as others. Those teachings should prove that the distorted teachings of ‘Muslims are the truly guided people while others are cursed or misled’ are wrong teachings According to the true teachings of Moses, God does not consider the Jews as his own chosen people and forsake others, the definition of the God’s cho- sen people is not what the Jewish scholars say, the true definition is what God has revealed to Moses which is an open invitation to each human to be- come a God’s chosen person via obedience. The true definition of the God’s
  • 6. chosen people are those who obey and do good works as written in many vers- es like Deuteronomy 28, Deuteronomy 30, Exodus 19, Leviticus 20, Leviticus 26 and many other scripture verses According to the true teachings of Jesus, people are saved by obedience and by good deeds. Jesus has confirmed the same core religion teachings of all religions; the obedience to God’s law and that people will be rewarded ac- cording to their good deeds. The teachings of the elected, the predestined, the glorified, the sanctified, and those chosen by God before the founda- tion of the world are not taught by Jesus According to the true teachings Islam, people are saved by obedience and by good deeds; Islam does not replace the core religion teachings of other re- ligions; Islamic teachings confirm the true teachings of Moses and Jesus There should be no problems if we follow the original prophet’s teachings which also confirm the guidelines of minds and conscience; the causes of the problems are the distorted teachings which have been changed and ex- plained to suit the purposes of the scribes and the scholars Objectives of our life Religion teachers should teach that our life on earth is only a primary testing period. We are not supposed to relax and enjoy ourselves during the test, we should not expect that the test questions are clearly known in ad- vance, we should expect difficulties during the test, and we will be re- warded according to our faith, our obedience, our compassion, and our good deeds Although the wise teacher knows the hard working students who will pass the exam and the careless students who will fail, he prepares regular exams as testimonies so that the students would not say that the teacher had fa- voured some students over the others. Exams also urge students to get pre- pared in order to succeed The fair teacher promises the students that they will be able to validate the test results and they will confirm that the results are accurate and fair Although God knows what’s in our hearts and what each of us might do, he tests us and wants us to witness our own test results to admit that we have
  • 7. been fairly rewarded according to our achievements as recorded in the test results Objectives of life according to the teachings of Judaism God tests you in this primary stage of life – testing period – Exodus 20:20 – Deuteronomy 8:2, Deuteronomy 13:3 to know who obeys and who does not obey According to the teachings of Moses, people are tested and those who obey God will be blessed, while those who repel will be cursed I may test them, whether they will walk in My law or not (Exodus 16:4) In Exodus 20:20, Moses taught that God tests people so that the fear of God will be with them to keep them from sinning The same teaching is also found in Deuteronomy 13:3 God is testing you to find out whether you love him with all your heart and with all your soul In Deuteronomy 8:2-3, Moses taught that God tests people in order to know what is in their heart, whether or not they would keep his commands. Deuteronomy 4:30 teaches that in tribulations, people would return to God and obey his voice The teaching ‘if you come back to God after testing, He will accept you’ is also the ob- jectives of testing as taught by Jesus in the parable of the rebellious son (Luke 15) when he was tested, then repented, he had been accepted The same teachings are confirmed many times in the holy book Job 23:10 teaches ‘when he has tested me, I will come forth as gold’ Job 5:7 teaches that we are here for testing ‘people are born for trouble as surely as sparks fly upward’
  • 8. Job 5:17 teaches ‘Blessed is the one whom God corrects; so do not despise the discipline of God’ PSALM 11:4-5 teaches He watches everyone closely; examining every person on earth.5 God examines both the righteous and the wicked Psalm 66:10 teaches ‘For You, O God, have tested us; You have refined us as silver is re- fined’ PROVERBS 17:3 teaches ‘The refining pot is for silver and the furnace for gold, but God tests the hearts’ ISAIAH 48:10 teaches ‘I have refined you, but not as silver is refined. Rather, I have refined you in the furnace of suffering’ Jeremiah 17:10 teaches that God tests us and will reward everyone according to his works “I the Lord search the heart and examine the mind, to reward each person according to their conduct, according to what their deeds deserve.” Objectives of life according to the teachings of Christianity Jesus taught that all of this life is a test; he taught that we are in a temporary testing period and we are being prepared for a permanent life. He also taught that the rewards will be according to our obedience and our good works Talking in parables, Jesus taught that God tests us by tribulation, tempta- tion, trials, persecution and promised rewards in heaven for those who pass the tests of persecution, temptation, trials, and tribulations Jesus has taught people to stand up for the truth even if persecuted by the bad multitudes who hate the truth. He taught that and also demonstrated it
  • 9. when he stood up for the truth against the bad chief priests who explained religion to their benefits Blessed are those who are persecuted because of righteousness, for theirs is the kingdom of heaven - Matthew 5:10 God has set the world stage for testing; every day we meet hungry and poor; some will help and some will refuse to help; those are not equally rewarded Matthew 25:31-45 teach that when we refuse to help the hungry, the stranger, and the sick, we refuse to help God “They also will answer, ‘Lord, when did we see you hungry or thirsty or a stranger or needing clothes or sick or in prison, and did not help you?’ “He will reply, ‘Truly I tell you, whatever you did not do for one of the least of these, you did not do for me.’ In Matthew 18:23-35 Jesus taught us to forgive in order that God forgives us; he mentioned that there are rewards for forgiveness and good works There are much more scripture to confirm that the objective of this tempo- rary stage of life on earth is testing and that our rewards in the eternal life depend on the results of that testing; examples are: Jesus taught that there will be testing and some will fall away in time of temptation as written in Luke 8:13 and Mark 4:17 Those on the rocky soil are those who, when they hear, receive the word with joy; and these have no firm root; they believe for a while, and in time of temptation fall away. Matthew 13:21 confirms the same message But since they have no root, they last only a short time. When trouble or persecution comes because of the word, they quickly fall away Another parable of a testing period and the rewards is Matthew 25:21

Come and share your master’s happiness!’ John 18:36 is another example to show that life on earth is not the target destination my kingdom is not in earth – but in heaven That is not just for Jesus, but he taught that we should not have treasures on earth but to seek the real treasures; the eternal life in heaven Luke 12:16-21 warn those who store up treasure for themselves, and are not rich toward God John 12:25 warn those who love their life in this world Those who love their life in this world will lose it. Those who care nothing for their life in this world will keep it for eternity. The same is also confirmed in Matthew 10:39 Similar teaching is mentioned in Luke 9:23 Then he said to them all: “Whoever wants to be my disciple must deny themselves and take up their cross daily and follow me”. The same is also mentioned in Mark 8:34 Matthew 13:44 teaches that people should do everything to win God’s rewards for the righteous, to win the kingdom of heaven The kingdom of heaven is like treasure hidden in a field, which someone found and hid; then in his joy he goes and sells all that he has and buys that field For that objective, he taught that people should pay everything to buy the eternal life in heaven; he taught that we should sell our life in this world in order to get the eternal life in heaven We have the choice to enjoy our life on earth and treasure money ignoring to feed the hungry or to sell this life and spend our money and efforts to help the hungry, the persecuted, and those who need help. The second choice was Jesus recommendation to win the eternal one; the kingdom of heaven

Jesus taught that testing and suffering help to return a person to his senses; Luke 15:17 teaches that the son came to his senses, after having undergone suffering James has taught that testing is a chance for us to grow, develop patience, and mature in God James 1:2-4 Consider it pure joy, whenever you face trials of many kinds, because you know that the testing of your faith produces patience. Let patience finish its work so that you may be mature and complete James 1:12 teaches that people will be tested by temptations and urges us to endure the temptations Blessed is anyone who endures temptation. Such a one has stood the test and will receive the crown of life that God has promised to those who love him Objectives of life according to the teachings of Islam When we analyse the verses of Quran, we find that it is the same message revealed by the same God, we also find in Quran that life is a testing pe- riod and that people will be rewarded according to their obedience and ac- cording to their good deeds Quran verse 47:31 clarifies that we are here for testing And We will surely test you until We make evident those who strive among you [for the cause of God] and the patient, and We will test your affairs Verse 29:2-3 confirms that we are here for testing Do the people think that they will be left to say, "We believe" and they will not be tried? But We have certainly tried those before them, and God will surely make evident those who are truthful, and He will surely make evident the liars. Similar teachings are found in 67:2, 18:7 and 76:2

[He is] The One Who created death and life, so that He may put you to test, to find out which of you is best in deeds: He is the All-Mighty, the All-Forgiving Indeed, We have made that which is on the earth adornment for it that We may test them [as to] which of them is best in deed. Indeed, We created man from a sperm-drop mixture that We may try him; and We made him hearing and seeing And We will surely test you with something of fear and hunger and a loss of wealth and lives and fruits, but give glad tidings to the patient 5:48 and 6:165 teach that we are in a testing stage and we are supposed to compete in good deeds to pass the test and earn our salvation If God wanted He could have made all of you a single nation. But He willed otherwise in order to test you in what He has given you; therefore try to compete in good deeds. Ultimately you all shall return to God; then He will show you the truth of those matters in which you dispute. 6:165 He is the One Who has made you the inheritors of the earth and raised some of you in ranks over others so that He may test you in what He has given you. Surely God is swift in ret- ribution; yet He is also very Forgiving, Merciful. 5:71 teaches that those who ignore that the objectives of life is testing are blind and deaf They thought there would be no trial (or punishment); so they became blind and deaf: yet God (in mercy) turned to them: yet again many of them became blind and deaf. But God sees well all that they do 3:179 teaches that God distinguishes the wicked from the good, people are not supposed to know everything to pass that test, but they are asked to follow the Prophets God will not leave the believers in the state in which you are now, until He distinguishes the wicked from the good. Nor will God disclose to you the secrets of the unseen, but God chooses of His Messengers whom He pleases. So believe in God and His Messengers. Why did God create me?’ If the Jewish scholars ignore that the objective of life is testing and teach that the Jews are the chosen people of God and they are promised the blessings because of the faith of their father Ibrahim, then people will reject such answers because the scripture teaches that God is not biased and that every person will be judged according to their deeds; not accord- ing to their fathers faith If the Christian scholars ignore that the objective of life is a testing period and teach that the objective is to accept Jesus as a saviour because we are born sinners and we cannot earn our salvation by good works, people will refer to the teachings of Jesus himself who taught that life is for testing and that people can earn their salvation by obedience and by good works If the Muslim scholars ignore that the objectives of life is a testing en- vironment and teach that the objective of life is to worship God, people would reply that God does not need our prayers When scientists and philosophers ignore the fact that our life on earth is only a primary testing and preparation period, they cannot provide logical answer to the most important question ‘why are we here?, why does God allow suffering?’ Guidelines for Success & Failure Those who analyse the teachings of religions would realize that the success involves obedience and good work to prove the true faith Business managers do not accept that each employee would choose his own preferred way for doing business; they do not agree with those who say ‘that is what is convenient for us and that is what our fathers used to do

The purpose is to clarify that the guidance provided by the original gifts of intelligence and conscience is similar to the guidance provided by the prophets The purpose also is to clarify that those who never heard of Prophets are not forsaken because God has equipped them by internal prophets and they will be guided to the wisdom by their original gifts Those who never heard of Prophets might have an easier test; they might be saved if they follow their conscience. Those who know the teachings of the prophets have a more difficult test; they have to obey prophet’s teachings in addition to following their original gifts The fair teacher prepares easy tests for the children who are in their first grade because they receive little education, but he prepares more complex tests for the students of the advanced degrees who receive more ed- ucation The common ground of all religions and all different sources of wisdom is ‘the golden rule’ What you do not want done to yourself, do not do to others. The verses reminds us that the setup of the testing environment allows the co-existence of good and evil; that is also taught by Jesus in Matthew 13:24-29 Ecclesiastes 12:13-14 summarize some important teachings Now all has been heard; here is the conclusion of the matter: Fear God and keep his commandments, for this is the duty of all mankind. For God will bring every deed into judgment, including every hidden thing, whether it is good or evil. Isaiah 56:1-2 Maintain justice and do what is right, for my salvation is close at hand and my righteousness will soon be revealed. Blessed is the man who does this, the man who holds it fast, who keeps the Sabbath without desecrating it, and keeps his hand from doing any evil Isaiah 5:20 Woe unto them who call evil good, and good evil; who put darkness for light, and light for darkness; who put bitter for sweet, and sweet for bitter! Isaiah 1:15-17 explain the reasons for not answering the prayers and pro- vide prescriptions for acceptance of prayers When you spread out your hands in prayer, I hide my eyes from you; even when you offer many prayers, I am not listening. Your hands are full of blood! Wash and make yourselves clean. Take your evil deeds out of my sight; stop doing wrong. Learn to do right; seek justice. Defend the oppressed. Take up the cause of the fatherless; plead the case of the widow Isaiah 2:4 urges us to stop the wars, to use our tools for agriculture purposes not for military purposes They will hammer their swords into plow-blades and their spears into pruning-knives; nations will not raise swords at each other, and they will no longer learn war
  • 30. The wisdom taught by such verses is to use our resources to increase the prosperity in order to feed more people instead of using the military hard- ware to destroy the cities and to kill people Isaiah 60:18 No longer will violence be heard in your land, nor ruin or destruction within your borders Isaiah 30:9-10 and Isaiah 30:12-14 warn those who ignore the true scripture and teach interesting stories For these are rebellious people, deceitful children, children unwilling to listen to the Lord’s instruction. They say to the seers, “See no more visions!” and to the prophets, “Give us no more visions of what is right! Tell us pleasant things, prophesy illusions” Because you have rejected this message, relied on oppression and depended on deceit, this sin will become for you like a high wall, cracked and bulging, that collapses suddenly, in an instant. It will break in pieces like pottery Isaiah 30:15 teaches in repentance and obedience is your salvation Isaiah 40:25-28 teach to think of God and of the universe “To whom will you compare me? Or who is my equal?” says the Holy One. Lift up your eyes and look to the heavens: Who created all these? Isaiah 59:2 But your iniquities have separated you from your God; your sins have hidden his face from you, so that he will not hear Isaiah 46:9 Remember the former things, those of long ago; I am God, and there is no oth- er; I am God, and there is none like me
  • 31. Isaiah 48:18 If only you had paid attention to my commands, your peace would have been like a river, your well-being like the waves of the sea Isaiah 42:21 teaches that God could have consider them righteous if they had glorified the law Isaiah 58:6-11 teach that the true worships are not the prayers, the fast- ing and the rituals, but are to loosen the chains of injustice, to defend the oppressed, to feed the hungry and to help others Such verses are sample prescriptions for those who seek righteousness and those who want God to answer their prayers It is not impossible for people to follow such wisdom and to transform earth into a paradise “Is not this the kind of fasting I have chosen: to loose the chains of injustice and untie the cords of the yoke, to set the oppressed free and break every yoke? Is it not to share your food with the hungry and to provide the poor wanderer with shelter - when you see the naked, to clothe them, and not to turn away from your own flesh and blood? Then your light will break forth like the dawn, and your healing will quickly appear; then your righteousness will go before you, and the glory of the Lord will be your rear guard. Then you will call, and the Lord will answer; you will cry for help, and he will say: Here am I Isaiah 3:5 People will oppress each other - man against man, neighbor against neighbor. The young will rise up against the old, the nobody against the honored. He explained the reason of those disasters in 3:8-9 because they did not obey God but they chose to repel and have rewarded evil unto themselves Isaiah 3:10-15 teach that it is good to eat the fruit of our labour and warn the unjust authorities which mislead people Tell the righteous it will be well with them, for they will enjoy the fruit of their deeds. Woe to the wicked! Disaster is upon them! They will be paid back for what their hands have done. My people, your guides lead you astray; they turn you from the path.
  • 32. The Lord takes his place in court; he rises to judge the people. The Lord enters into judgment against the elders and leaders of his people: “It is you who have ruined my vineyard; the plunder from the poor is in your houses. What do you mean by crushing my people and grinding the faces of the poor?” Isaiah 9:14-16 warns the false teachers who teach distorted teachings and who mislead people Micah 3:11 warns the bad religion teachers The heads thereof judge for reward, and the priests thereof teach for hire, and the prophets thereof divine for money Isaiah 9:15-16 warn the religion teachers who teach lies to mislead people the elders and dignitaries are the head, the prophets who teach lies are the tail. Those who guide this people mislead them, and those who are guided are led astray. Isaiah 1:23 warns the unjust authorities Your rulers are rebels, partners with thieves; they all love bribes and chase after gifts. They do not defend the cause of the fatherless; the widow’s case does not come before them 2 Chronicles 7:14 teaches that God answers the prayers of the repented sin- ners if my people, who are called by my name, will humble themselves and pray and seek my face and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven, and I will forgive their sin and will heal their land Success and failure according to Christianity Jesus taught that when we obey God and do good works; we will pass the test of this world and will become qualified to receive God’s rewards in heaven In Matt 5:13-16, Jesus taught that the believers should act as the salt to protect against corruption and as a light to guide others to the truth
  • 33. You are the salt of the earth; but if the salt has become tasteless, how can it be made salty again? It is no longer good for anything, except to be thrown out and trampled underfoot by men You are the light of the world. A city set on a hill cannot be hidden; nor does anyone light a lamp and put it under a basket, but on the lampstand, and it gives light to all who are in the house. “Let your light shine before men in such a way that they may see your good works, and glorify your Father who is in heaven The same is also written in mark 9:50 and Luke 14:34-35 In Matt 7:7-11, Jesus urged the believers to ask God and to knock the door; he wanted us to trust that God answers our prayers Ask, and it will be given to you; seek, and you will find; knock, and it will be opened to you. For everyone who asks receives, and he who seeks finds, and to him who knocks it will be opened. Or what man is there among you who, when his son asks for a loaf, will give him a stone? “Or if he asks for a fish, he will not give him a snake, will he? “If you then, being evil, know how to give good gifts to your children, how much more will your Father who is in heaven give what is good to those who ask Him! The same is also written in Luke 11:9-13 In Matt 7:13-14, Jesus warned those who follow the majority Enter through the narrow gate; for the gate is wide and the way is broad that leads to destruction, and there are many who enter through it. For the gate is small and the way is narrow that leads to life, and there are few who find it Most people ignore that teachings and say ‘As long as I am with the major- ity, I should be fine’, but they are wrong according to the teachings of Jesus in Luke 13:24-27, Matthew 7:13-14 In Matt 7:15-20, Jesus warned from the false teachers who mislead people; he advised us to identify them from their bad deeds Beware of the false prophets, who come to you in sheep’s clothing, but inwardly are ravenous wolves. You will know them by their fruits. Grapes are not gathered from thorn bushes nor figs from thistles, are they? So every good tree bears good fruit, but the bad tree bears bad fruit. A good tree cannot produce bad fruit, nor can a bad tree produce good fruit.
  • 34. Every tree that does not bear good fruit is cut down and thrown into the fire. So then, you will know them by their fruits The same is also written in Luke 6:43-44 In Matt 12:38-39, Jesus blamed those who asked him to perform miracles Then some of the scribes and Pharisees said to Him, “Teacher, we want to see a sign from You.” But He answered and said to them, “An evil and adulterous generation craves for a sign; and yet no sign will be given to it but the sign of Jonah the prophet The same is also written in Mark 8:11-12, luke 11:29-32 In Matthew 7:21-23 Jesus warned of the false teachers who claim to perform miracles; he advised that only the believers who obey will enter the king- dom of heaven Not everyone who says to me, ‘Lord, Lord,’ will enter the kingdom of heaven, but only the one who does the will of my Father who is in heaven. Many will say to me on that day, ‘Lord, Lord, did we not prophesy in your name and in your name drive out demons and in your name perform many miracles?’ Then I will tell them plainly, ‘I never knew you. Away from me, you evildoers! The same is also written in Luke 13:25-27 In Matthew 22:35-40, Jesus confirmed the teachings of the Old Testimony like Deuteronomy 6:5 and Leviticus 18:4-5 You must love God with all your heart, all your soul, and all your mind.' This is the first and greatest commandment. A second is equally important: 'Love your neighbor as yourself.' All the other commandments and all the demands of the prophets are based on these two commandments In Luke 10:25-28 Jesus was asked “Teacher, what shall I do to inherit eternal life?” He said to him, “What is written in the Law? How do you read it?” And he answered, “You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your strength and with all your mind, and your neighbor as yourself.” And he said to him, “You have answered correctly; do this, and you will live.” The same teaching is written in Mark 12:28-34 Mark 12:33 teaches: And to love one’s neighbour as himself, is much more than all burnt offerings and sacrifices
  • 35. What Jesus taught here is not different from the wisdom taught by the old testimony Hosea 6:6 For I desire mercy and not sacrifice, And the knowledge of God more than burnt offerings In Mark 10:17-19 Jesus did not accept the title of ‘Good Teacher’ and said Why do you call me good? No one is good but God alone; he confirmed the law, he did not mention the atonement or the mistake of Adam or that he came to die for the sinners. Like other Prophets, he has simply confirmed the law "Good Teacher, what must I do to inherit eternal life?" Jesus said to him, "Why do you call me good? No one is good but God alone. You know the commandments: 'You shall not murder; You shall not commit adultery; You shall not steal; You shall not bear false witness; You shall not defraud; Honor your father and mother.'" The same teachings are written in Matthew 19:16-19 and in Luke 18:18-20 Luke 12:16-21 is a parable to warn most people who treasure for tomorrow while turning a blind eye to the hungry people we see everyday Then he told them a parable: "The land of a rich man produced abundantly. And he thought to himself, 'What should I do, for I have no place to store my crops?' Then he said, 'I will do this: I will pull down my barns and build larger ones, and there I will store all my grain and my goods. And I will say to my soul, 'Soul, you have ample goods laid up for many years; relax, eat, drink, be merry.' But God said to him, 'You fool! This very night your life is being demanded of you. And the things you have prepared, whose will they be?' So it is with those who store up treasures for themselves but are not rich toward God." John 12:25 warns those who like to "live it up" urging them to prepare for the eternal life Those who love their life in this world will lose it. Those who care nothing for their life in this world will keep it for eternity The same is also confirmed in Matthew 10:39 and Matthew 16:25 The same is also mentioned in Luke 9:23-25, Mark 8:34-35 Matthew 13:44 teaches us to give everything to obey so that we get God’s rewards for the righteous
  • 36. The kingdom of heaven is like treasure hidden in a field, which someone found and hid; then in his joy he goes and sells all that he has and buys that field James 4:1-5 also warns those who compete to enjoy the pleasures of this life What causes fights and quarrels among you? Don't they come from your desires that battle within you? You want something but don't get it. You kill and covet, but you cannot have what you want. You quarrel and fight. You do not have, because you do not ask God. When you ask, you do not receive, because you ask with wrong motives, that you may spend what you get on your pleasures. You adulterous people, don't you know that friendship with the world is hatred toward God? Anyone who chooses to be a friend of the world becomes an enemy of God John 15:10-11 reminds us of the rewards for obedience If you keep my commandments, you will abide in my love, just as I have kept my Father's commandments and abide in his love. I have said these things to you so that my joy may be in you, and that your joy may be complete Luke 6:27-36 and Matthew 5:38-42 set the high standard for wise dealing with others; such teachings would replace hatred by compassion and would transform earth into a paradise But I say to you that listen, Love your enemies, do good to those who hate you, bless those who curse you, pray for those who abuse you. If anyone strikes you on the cheek, offer the other also; and from anyone who takes away your coat do not withhold even your shirt. Give to everyone who begs from you; and of him who takes away your goods do not ask them again. And as you wish that men would do to you, do so to them But love your enemies, do good, and lend, expecting nothing in return. Your reward will be great, and you will be children of the Most High; for he is kind to the ungrateful and the wicked. Be merciful, just as your Father is merciful Matthew 7:12 reminds us of the “Golden Rule”, the common ground wisdom taught by all wise teachers
  • 37. So whatever you wish that men would do to you, do so to them; for this is the law and the prophets Matthew 6:24 urges us to shift from the material life into a spiritual life No one can serve two masters; for a slave will either hate the one and love the other, or be devoted to the one and despise the other. You cannot serve God and wealth Matthew 12:50 teaches that the real family of the prophet are the obedient believers For whoever does the will of my Father in heaven is my brother and sister and mother Luke 6:46-48 teaches that solid faith foundations are based on obedience to the teachings Why do you call me 'Lord, Lord,' and do not do what I tell you? I will show you what someone is like who comes to me, hears my words, and acts on them. That one is like a man building a house, who dug deeply and laid the foundation on rock; when a flood arose, the river burst against that house but could not shake it, because it had been well built The same is also taught in John 14:15 and John 14:21 If you love me, you will keep my commandments John 14:21 They who have my commandments and keep them are those who love me; and those who love me will be loved by my Father, and I will love them and reveal myself to them In Matthew 25:31-45 Jesus described the final judgment as being based on good works; he clarified that those who obey the law will be saved Salvation is not based solely on belief and nothing else; salvation is not granted to those who merely profess acceptance of Jesus without actually performing kind or compassionate deeds Jesus did not teach that a man is justified by faith without the deeds of the law; In Matthew 16:27 and John 5:29, Jesus has confirmed that God will
  • 38. reward each person according to his deeds; those are the basic teachings of the old testimony like the verses taught in Psalm 62:12, Ecclesiastes 12:14, and many other old testimony verses Matthew 25:41-46 teach that when we give the poor, we give to God Then shall he say also unto them on the left hand, Depart from me, ye cursed, into everlasting fire, prepared for the devil and his angels: For I was an hungred, and ye gave me no meat: I was thirsty, and ye gave me no drink: I was a stranger, and ye took me not in: naked, and ye clothed me not: sick, and in prison, and ye visited me not. Then shall they also answer him, saying, Lord, when saw we thee anhungred, or athirst, or a stranger, or naked, or sick, or in prison, and did not minister unto thee? Then shall he answer them, saying, Verily I say unto you, Inasmuch as ye did it not to one of the least of these, ye did it not to me. And these shall go away into everlasting punishment: but the righteous into life eternal. Matthew 6:19-20 is an advice to have Treasures in heaven, not in earth Do not store up for yourselves treasures on earth, where moths and vermin destroy, and where thieves break in and steal. But store up for yourselves treasures in heaven, where moths and vermin do not destroy, and where thieves do not break in and steal. For where your treasure is, there your heart will be also. Matthew 13:18-23 is a parable on those who accept the teachings and do good deeds Listen then to what the parable of the sower means: When anyone hears the message about the kingdom and does not understand it, the evil one comes and snatches away what was sown in their heart. This is the seed sown along the path. The seed falling on rocky ground refers to someone who hears the word and at once receives it with joy. But since they have no root, they last only a short time. When trouble or persecution comes because of the word, they quickly fall away. The seed falling among the thorns refers to someone who hears the word, but the worries of this life and the deceitfulness of wealth choke the word, making it unfruitful. But the seed falling on good soil refers to someone who hears the word and understands it. This is the one who produces a crop, yielding a hundred, sixty or thirty times what was sown In Matthew 15:6-9 Jesus faced those who nullify the word of God for the sake of their traditions they are not to ‘honor their father or mother’ with it. Thus you nullify the word of God for the sake of your tradition. You hypocrites! Isaiah was right when he prophesied about you:
  • 39. “‘These people honor me with their lips, but their hearts are far from me. They worship me in vain; their teachings are merely human rules.” The same teaching that they ignore God’s law and prefer fathers traditions is also mentioned in Mark 7:6-9 And He said to them, “Rightly did Isaiah prophesy of you hypocrites, as it is written: ‘THIS PEOPLE HONORS ME WITH THEIR LIPS, BUT THEIR HEART IS FAR AWAY FROM ME. ‘BUT IN VAIN DO THEY WORSHIP ME, TEACHING AS DOCTRINES THE PRECEPTS OF MEN.’ “Neglecting the commandment of God, you hold to the tradition of men.” He was also saying to them, You are experts at setting aside the commandment of God in order to keep your tradition In Luke 13:3 and13:5, Jesus taught that repentance is necessary for salva- tion But unless you repent, you too will all perish Matthew 3:8-10 clarifies that prophets preach of repentance Prove by the way you live that you have repented of your sins and turned to God. Don’t just say to each other, ‘We’re safe, for we are descendants of Abraham.’ That means nothing, for I tell you, God can create children of Abraham from these very stones. Even now the ax of God’s judgment is poised, ready to sever the roots of the trees. Yes, every tree that does not produce good fruit will be chopped down and thrown into the fire Matthew 3:2 and 4:17 shows that John and Jesus preached repentance Repent of your sins and turn to God, for the Kingdom of Heaven is near Matthew 9:13 teaches that Jesus came to call the sinner to repentance I desire mercy, and not sacrifice, for I came not to call the righteous, but sinners to repentance In Luke 15:7 and 15:10, Jesus taught that there is joy in heaven over re- pentant sinner
  • 40. I tell you that even so there will be more joy in heaven over one sinner who repents, than over ninety-nine righteous people who need no repentance. Even so, I tell you, there is joy in the presence of the angels of God over one sinner repenting Luke 15: 32 clarifies that the Repentant Sinner was dead and is alive again But it was appropriate to celebrate and be glad, for this, your brother, was dead, and is alive again. He was lost, and is found James 5:19-20 urge us to guide the lost person to the truth and to bring him back to God My brothers, if one of you wanders from the truth, and someone causes him to return, you should know that whoever turns a sinner from his wandering path will save him from death and cover many sins In John 5:30-31 and 12:49-50 Jesus taught that he is only delivering the message of God I can do nothing on my own. I judge as God tells me. Therefore, my judgment is just, because I carry out the will of the one who sent me, not my own will. If I were to testify on my own behalf, my testimony would not be valid I don’t speak on my own authority. The Father who sent me has commanded me what to say and how to say it. And I know his commands lead to eternal life; so I say whatever the Father tells me to say In John 17:3, Jesus taught that the father is the only true God Now this is eternal life: that they know you, the only true God, and Jesus Christ, whom you have sent James 1:5 urges us to ask God for wisdom If any of you lacks wisdom, you should ask God, who gives generously to all without finding fault, and it will be given to you
  • 41. James 1:22-26 urge us to be doers of the law, and not hearers only But don’t just listen to God’s word. You must do what it says. Otherwise, you are only fooling yourselves. For if you listen to the word and don’t obey, it is like glancing at your face in a mirror. You see yourself, walk away, and forget what you look like. But if you look carefully into the perfect law that sets you free, and if you do what it says and don’t forget what you heard, then God will bless you for doing it. If you claim to be religious but don’t control your tongue, you are fooling yourself, and your religion is worthless James 2:14 and 2:17 teach that faith without works is dead What does it profit, my brethren, if someone says he has faith but does not have works? Can faith save him? Thus also faith by itself, if it does not have works, is dead Success and failure according to the teachings of Islam Quran Verse 2:136 of Quran urges us to follow what God has revealed to the Prophets Say: "We believe in God and that which is revealed to us; and what was revealed to Abraham, Ishmael, Isaac, Jacob and their descendants, and that which was given to Moses, Jesus, and other Prophets from God. We do not discriminate any of them, and to God we have surrendered ourselves Verse 42:13 teaches that there is one religion revealed by God to all Prophets He has ordained for you of religion what He enjoined upon Noah and that which We have revealed to you, and what We enjoined upon Abraham and Moses and Jesus - to establish the religion and not be divided therein. Difficult for those who associate others with God is that to which you invite them. God chooses for Himself whom He wills and guides to Himself whoever turns back [to Him] 7:96 confirms the ‘blessings for obedience and the curses for disobedience’ – the same teachings of other prophets
  • 42. And if the people of the towns had believed and kept from evil, surely We should have opened for them, blessings from the sky and from the earth; but they rejected (the truth) and We seized them on account of what they used to earn 14:7 teaches that God rewards the grateful and punishes the ungrateful And when your Lord proclaimed: If ye give thanks, I will give you more; but if ye are thankless, my punishment is dire 45:30-31 the believers who obey and do good deeds will be blessed So as for those who believed and did righteous deeds, their Lord will admit them into His mercy. That is what is the clear attainment. But as for those who disbelieved, [it will be said], "Were not Our verses recited to you, but you were arrogant and became a people of criminals? 7:35 comforts those who accepted and obeyed the prophets; no fears; no grieves. The verse is to all people, not to Muslims only O children of Adam, if there come to you messengers from among you relating to you My verses, then whoever fears Allah and reforms - there will be no fear concerning them, nor will they grieve 7:42 teaches that those who believe and do righteous deeds will be rewarded an eternal life in paradise. The verse is also to all people, not to Muslims only But those who believed and did righteous deeds - We charge no soul except [within] its capacity. Those are the companions of Paradise; they will abide therein eternally 103:1-3 teach that mankind is in loss Except for those who have believed and done righteous deeds and advised each other to truth and advised each other to patience 30:41 teaches that Evil and the curses are the results of disobedience Evil has appeared throughout the land and sea by [reason of] what the hands of people have earned so He may let them taste part of [the consequence of] what they have done that perhaps they will return [to righteousness]
  • 43. 7:164 urges us to guide the lost person to the truth and to bring him back to God And when asked: "Why do you preach to a people whom God is about to destroy or to punish with a severe torment?" (The preachers) said: "In order to be free from guilt before God, and perhaps they may fear God." 3:92 teaches that the evidence to the true belief is to spend money to sup- port the poor You can never attain righteousness unless you spend on others out of what you cherish yourselves; and whatever you spend - verily, God has full knowledge thereof 71:10 urges us to repent and pray to request God’s forgiveness saying: "Seek forgiveness of God, He is ever ready to forgive you. He will shower upon you heavenly blessings abundant, And will help you with wealth and children, and will provide Gardens and Rivers Many verses like 11:51, 34:47, 6:90, 12:104, 34:39, and 36:21 teach that true Prophets do not accept any reward for preaching the truth O my people! I do not ask you any reward for my services; for none can reward me except my creator. Will you not then use your common sense? The same is also taught by many Prophets in 26:145, 26:164, and 26:180 11:117 teaches that God does not punish the obedient righteous God wouldn’t have destroyed the villages unjustly while their habitants were righteous 41:30-31 teaches that the believers who obey God will be supported by an- gels in this life and in the hereafter As for those who say: "Our Lord is God," and then stay firm on it, the angels will descend on them, saying: "Let nothing fear or grieve you. Rejoice for the good news of paradise that has been promised to you. We are your protectors in this life and in the hereafter. There you shall find all that your souls desire and all that you can ask for
  • 44. 40:51 teaches that God supports the prophets and the believers in this life and hereafter We verily do help Our messengers, and those who believe, in the life of the world and on the day when the witnesses arise The same is confirmed in other verses like 37:171-172 10:62-64 teach that the righteous have nothing to fear, and neither shall they grieve Oh, verily, the righteous have nothing to fear, and neither shall they grieve, Those who believe and obey. For them there is the glad tiding [of happiness] in the life of this world and in the life to come; [and since] nothing could ever alter [the outcome of] God's promises, this, this is the supreme triumph! 41:46 teaches that people have the choice to do either good deeds or bad deeds and that God does not predetermine the punishment or the rewards be- fore the people are born and before they have a change to do any good or bad deeds He who does good deeds, does it for his own soul; and he who commits evil does so at his own peril: God is never unjust to people 38:28 clarifies that God does not treat the obedient believers as the wick- ed Shall We treat those who believe and do good works as those who spread corruption in the earth; or shall We treat the Pious as the wicked? 16:90 reminds us about justice, spending to support the poor, and warns of immorality and oppression Indeed, God orders justice and good conduct and giving to relatives and forbids immorality and bad conduct and oppression. He admonishes you that perhaps you will be reminded 12:105 teaches that there are enough signs in the heavens and on earth to guide people to God There are many signs in the heavens and the earth which they pass by; yet they pay no attention to them!
  • 45. 16:10-14 mention some signs like the rain, the fruits, the night, the day, the sun, the moon, the sea as a source of food and to enable transportation via ships, etc. (such signs should make people grateful) He causes to grow for you thereby the crops, olives, palm trees, grapevines, and from all the fruits. Indeed in that is a sign for a people who give thought. And He has subjected for you the night and day and the sun and moon, and the stars are subjected by His command. Indeed in that are signs for a people who reason. And [He has subjected] whatever He multiplied for you on the earth of varying colors. Indeed in that is a sign for a people who remember And it is He who subjected the sea for you to eat from it tender meat and to extract from it ornaments which you wear. And you see the ships plowing through it, and [He subjected it] that you may seek of His bounty; and perhaps you will be grateful 30:21-23 remind us of some signs like our creation, marriage, creation of the heavens and the earth, different languages, colors, our sleep, and earning our living; all those are signs we should think of And of His signs is that He created you from dust; then, suddenly you were human beings dispersing [throughout the earth]. And of His signs is that He created for you from yourselves mates that you may find tranquillity in them; and He placed between you affection and mercy. Indeed in that are signs for a people who give thought. And of His signs is the creation of the heavens and the earth and the diversity of your languages and your colors. Indeed in that are signs for those of knowledge. And of His signs is your sleep by night and day and your seeking of His bounty. Indeed in that are signs for a people who listen 30:44-45 teach that it is up to people to believe or to disbelieve; free will, no predestinations The wise judge does not judge based on any predetermined thoughts or forced conditions, but he judges based on the freedom of choices Whoever disbelieves - upon him is [the consequence of] his disbelief. And whoever does righteousness - they are for themselves preparing, That He may reward those who have believed and done righteous deeds out of His bounty. Indeed, He does not like the disbelievers 6:116 teaches that the majority do not follow the truth but follow opinions and guesses If thou obey most of those on earth they would mislead thee far from God's way. They follow nothing but an opinion, and they do but guess
  • 46. 38:24 teaches that the majority is not right (and the true obedient believ- ers are not the majority – but those are the minority) in fact many partners are unjust to one another; except those who believe and do good deeds, and they are few indeed This is similar to the wisdom taught by Moses in Exodus 23:2 This is similar to the wisdom taught by Jesus when he mentioned the narrow gate in Luke 13:24-27 and in Matthew 7:13-14 33:67-68 is a scene from the hereafter to teach that those who follow the arrogant leaders will be misled And they will say: Our God! we obeyed our leaders and our great men, and it is they who have led us astray from the right path! Our God! Give them double punishment and curse them with a great curse 34:32 teaches that those who followed the arrogant leaders are also guilty The arrogant ones will say to the weak who followed them: "Was it we who kept you back from Guidance after it reached you? Nay! Rather you yourselves were guilty." 28:8 teaches that the soldiers who execute the commands of the wicked au- thorities are also sinners Pharaoh and Haman and their soldiers were deliberate sinners 15:42 teaches that the devil does not have authority to force people to sin you will not have any authority over My devotees except those misguided ones who follow you 16:99 teaches that obedient believers can resist devil’s temptations surely the devil has no authority over those who believe and put their trust in God 17:65 teaches that the devil has no authority to mislead people (they can resist temptations) as for the obedient , you shall have no authority over them. God is sufficient as their Guardian
  • 47. 27:83-85 is a scene from the hereafter, when we are asked ‘what else have you been doing?’ On that Day We shall gather from every nation a multitude of those who disbelieved Our revelations; then they shall be arranged in classifications according to their merits, until when they have all arrived, God will ask: "Did you deny My revelations without gaining their comprehensive knowledge? If not this, what else were you doing? The sentence will be carried out against them for the consequence of their wrongdoings and they will not be able to utter a word 28:65-66 is also a scene from the hereafter to warn those who reject the Prophets Let them also not forget that, on that Day, He will call them and ask: "How did you answer Our messengers? "but all arguments and excuses will by then have been erased from their minds, and they will not [be able to] obtain any [helpful] answer from one another 6:120 teaches us to be transparent; we should not have any bad thoughts But abstain from sinning, be it open or secret - for, behold, those who commit sins shall be punished for all that they have earned 61:2-3 teaches that God does not like those who talk about good deeds but who fail to do so O believers! Why do you say one thing and do another? It is very hateful in the sight of God that you say something which you don't do 25:43-44 warns those who follow their desires instead of following God’s commands Have you ever seen the one who has taken his own desires as his god? Would you take the responsibility of guiding him? Or do you think that most of them listen or try to understand? They are nothing but animals - nay, they are even further off track! 16:105 teaches that the disbelievers are liars (because they conceal the proofs of existence of God which they see everywhere) Surely those who do not believe in the revelations of God, are the ones who forge the falsehood and they are the ones who are liars!
  • 48. 27:14 teaches that some people reject God’s signs and revelations although they know that the signs and revelations are true And they rejected those Signs in iniquity and arrogance though their souls were convinced thereof: so see what was the end of those who acted corruptly! 16:22 teaches that non-believers are arrogant (those are arrogant because they conclude that there is no God and there is no hereafter without enough knowledge – they acted like the child who has limited knowledge but makes conclusions about the advanced science theories) Your God is One God. But as for those who believe not in the Hereafter their hearts refuse to know, for they are arrogant 23:64-66 is a scene from the hereafter to warn those who prefer to live a luxury life ignoring God’s message Till when We grasp those who enjoyed a luxury life with the punishment, behold! they supplicate. We shall say: "Do not cry for help this Day, for surely from Us you shall receive no help. Time and again were My messages conveyed unto you, but [every time] you would turn about on your heels 46:20 is a scene from the hereafter to warn the arrogant people who did not obey but chose to enjoy a luxury life And on the Day when the disbelievers will be brought within sight of the hell, [they will be told:] "You have exhausted your [share of] good things in your worldly life, having enjoyed them [without any thought of the hereafter]: and so today you shall be requited with the suffering of humiliation for having gloried on earth in your arrogance offending against all that is right, and for all your iniquitous doings!" That is similar to the wisdom taught by Jesus in Luke 16:25 4:150-152 Warns those who reject some of the prophets those who disbelieve in God and His messengers, and seek to make distinction between God and His messengers, and say: We believe in some and disbelieve in others, and seek to choose a way in between; these are the real unbelievers and We have prepared for such unbelievers a humiliating punishment. As for those who believe in God and His messengers and do not discriminate between any of them, We shall give them their due rewards. God is Forgiving, Merciful
  • 49. 7:30 teaches that God does not mislead people, but people are misled when they follow the devils temptations To one group He has guided while the other group deserved to be left in error due to their own choice; for they followed the devils instead of God yet they think that they are guided 7:146 teaches that God does not guide the arrogant who ignore the signs and deny God’s message I will turn away from My signs the eyes of those who are unjustly arrogant on earth, so that even if they see each and every sign they will not believe in it. If they see the Right Way before them they will not follow it; but if they see a crooked way they will follow it; this is because they denied Our revelations and were heedless of them This is similar to the wisdom taught by Isaiah in Isaiah 30:9-11 6:119 teaches that many are led astray by their own lusts through ignorance 15:56 teaches that we should never despair of God’s mercy Who would despair of the mercy of his God except one who goes astray? 4:97 is a scene from hereafter to teach that people should not submit to the unjust authorities which does not allow justice or religion freedom as for those whom the angels take (in death) while they wrong themselves, (the angels) will ask: In what were ye engaged? They will say : We were oppressed in the land. (The angels) will say: Was not God’s earth spacious that ye could have migrated therein? As for such, their habitation will be hell, an evil journey's end 28:59 teaches that God does not punish without sending messengers; he pun- ishes the wrongdoers God would never destroy the towns until He had sent a messenger, proclaiming to them Our revelations; and We would not destroy towns except when their dwellers had become wrongdoers 7:28 teaches that we should not automatically inherit the bad habits of the disobedient parents
  • 50. Whenever they commit a shameful deed, they say: "We found our forefathers doing this and God Himself has commanded us to do so." Tell them: "Nay! God never commands what is shameful. Do you attribute to God something about which you have no knowledge? 37:69-70 warn those who blindly follow the father’s religion They indeed found their fathers astray, and they are eagerly following their footsteps The same is confirmed in 43:23-25 Rather, they say, "Indeed, we found our fathers upon a religion, and we are in their footsteps [rightly] guided."And similarly, We did not send before you any warner into a city except that its affluent said, "Indeed, we found our fathers upon a religion, and we are, in their footsteps, following."[Each Warner] said, "Even if I brought you better guidance than that [religion] upon which you found your fathers?" They said, "Indeed we, in that with which you were sent, are disbelievers." So we took retribution from them; then see how was the end of the deniers 16:35 warns those who say that it is all decided by God and we do not have decisions about faith matters And the idolaters say: "If God wanted, neither we nor our forefathers would have worshipped anyone else but Him, nor made anything unlawful without His will." Such excuses were put forward also by those who went before them. Yet messengers have no more responsibility than to convey the Message clearly 16:53 reminds us about God’s gifts and the fact that he is the only refuge we seek in real disasters Whatever gifts you enjoy are from God, and when touched by distress, He is the One to Whom you cry for help 16:83 warns those who enjoy the gifts of God but are ungrateful They recognize the gifts of God, yet they deny them; most of them are ungrateful disbelievers 17:14 is a scene from the hereafter teaches that each person will validate his records of his deeds Here is your book of deeds: read it. Today you yourself are sufficient to take your own account
  • 51. 17:15 teaches that God enables people to choose their faith, they will be rewarded according to their deeds, and there is no punishment for those who do not know about the Prophets Whoever chooses to follow the right path, follows it but for his own good; and whoever goes astray, goes but astray to his own hurt; and no bearer, of burdens shall be made to bear burdens of others. Moreover, We do not inflict punishment until We send forth a messenger to make truth distinct from falsehood 17:72 warns those who turn a blind eye to the signs of God in this world that they will be blind in the hereafter But those who have turn a blind eye to the signs of God in this world will be blind in the hereafter, rather worse than blind in finding the Way to Salvation 20:124-127 warn those who turn a blind eye to the signs of God in this world that they will be blind in the hereafter And whoever turns away from My remembrance - indeed, he will have a depressed life, and We will gather him on the Day of Resurrection blind." He will say, "My Lord, why have you raised me blind while I was [once] seeing?" [God] will say, "Thus did Our signs come to you, and you forgot them; and thus will you this Day be forgotten." And thus do We recompense he who transgressed and did not believe in the signs of his Lord. And the punishment of the Hereafter is more severe and more enduring 21:24 teaches that most unbelievers do not know the truth But most of them have no knowledge of the truth, and that is why they have turned away 43:7 teaches that people used to persecute the Prophets But there would not come to them a prophet except that they used to ridicule him 23:44 teaches that people hate the true teachings of the prophets - and sent forth Our messengers one after another: every time a messenger came to his peo- ple, they disbelieved him, so We punished them one by one and made them a history; so away with a people who do not believe
  • 52. 21:35 teaches that we will be tested by bad and good things before we re- turn to God Every human being is bound to taste death; and We test you [all] through the bad and the good [things of life] by way of trial: and unto Us you all must return 23:55-58 teach that gifts in this life are not rewards to the chosen, but are means to testing. Do they think that, in giving them wealth and sons, We are eager for their welfare? By no means! They do not understand the reality of the matter. Surely those who live cautiously for fear of God, And those who believe in the signs and revelations of God and who do not worship other than God, who do good deeds, and their hearts are full of fear by the very idea that they shall have to return to God, These race to do good deeds, and they shall win them in the race 27:14 al warns those who reject the signs of God although they know that they are true signs and revelations - and in their wickedness and self-exaltation they rejected them, although their minds were convinced of their truth: and behold what happened in the end to those spreaders of corruption! 28:50 warns those who follow their desires without guidance from God And since they cannot respond to this thy challenge, know that they are following only their own desires: and who could be more astray than he who follows [but] his own desires without any guidance from God? Verily, God does not grace with His guidance the evildoers 29:60 teaches that God provides the means of living to people and to the animals (which cannot store food for future use) How many creatures are there that do not carry their provisions with them? God provides for them as He provides for you. It is He Who is All-hearing, All-knowing 32:12 is a scene from the hereafter to warn those who fail to do good deeds If only you could visualize when the criminals will hang their heads before God saying: "Our God! We have seen and we have heard; please send us back to the world and we will do good deeds: we are now convinced." 32:22 warns those who ignore God’s signs
  • 53. Who could be more unjust than the one who is reminded of the signs and revelations of God and he turns away from them? Surely We shall punish such criminals 33:39 teaches that God will reward those who deliver his messages and fear none save God (the verse does not mention the reward; but say that those are very special people to God; God knows how to reward his very special people) Those Who deliver the messages of God and fear Him, and fear none but God. God knows how to settle their account 34:25-26 teach that everyone will be judged for his deeds only (not for the mistakes of fathers or others) Say: You will not be asked of what we committed, nor shall we be asked of what you do Say: Our Lord will bring us all together, then He will judge between us with truth. He is the All knowing Judge 34:34 warns the wealthy people who are usually the first people to reject the prophets Whenever We have sent a Warner to a town, its wealthy residents have said: "We surely disbelieve in what you are sent with" 35:32 teach that some of those who inherit the scripture are bad and some are good Then We gave the Scripture as inheritance unto those whom We elected. But of them are some who wrong themselves and of them are some who are lukewarm and of them are some who outstrip (others) through good deeds, by God's leave. That is the great favour! 35:37 is a scene from the hereafter to explain the conditions of the diso- bedient who wish to go back to life to do good deeds (although they are granted enough time to demonstrate their behaviour) And they cry for help there, (saying): Our Lord! Release us; we will do right, not (the wrong) that we used to do. Did not We grant you a life long enough for who reflected to reflect therein? And the Warner came unto you. Now taste (the flavour of your deeds), for evil doers have no helper
  • 54. 38:14 warns those who reject the Prophets All rejected the apostles, so My Punishment came justly and inevitably (on them) 40:60 warns those who do not ask God for guidance And your Lord says: "Call on Me; I will answer your (Prayer): But those who are too arrogant to obey Me will surely find themselves in Hell in humiliation!" 41:53 urges us to think about God’s signs We will show them Our signs in the horizons and within themselves until it becomes clear to them that it is the truth 39:59-61 is a scene from the hereafter to warn the arrogant who deny the signs and revelations Then God will say to him: "My revelations did come to you; but you denied them, were arrogant and you were among the disbelievers." On the Day of Judgement you shall see that the faces of those who uttered falsehood against God shall be darkened. Is there not an abode in hell for such arrogant? And God will save those who feared Him by their attainment; no evil will touch them, nor will they grieve 40:81 warns those who ignore God’s signs which he shows everywhere Thus, He shows you His signs; then, which signs of God you will deny? 42:40 teaches that it is better to forgive than to return evil for evil And the retribution for an evil act is an evil one like it, but whoever pardons and makes reconciliation - his reward is [due] from God . Indeed, He does not like wrongdoers 42:43 urges us to be patient and to forgive And whoever is patient and forgives - indeed, that is of the matters [requiring] determination 43:20 warns those who worship other Gods and claim that they do not have a choice to choose the right faith
  • 55. And they said, "If the Most Merciful had willed, we would not have worshipped them." They have of that no knowledge. They are not but falsifying 43:36-37 warns those who ignore God Guidance that they will be misled by devils And whoever is blinded from remembrance of the Most Merciful - We appoint for him a devil, and he is to him a companion. And indeed, the devils avert them from the way [of guidance] while they think that they are [rightly] guided 43:72 Teaches that people are rewarded according to their deeds (God does not create people as holy or sinners. He does not determine their salva- tion, but he delegates that task to each person) And that is Paradise which you are made to inherit for what you used to do 45:15 teaches that people determine their fate by their deeds Whoever does a good deed - it is for himself; and whoever does evil - it is against the self. Then to God you will be returned 45:21-22 teach that God distinguishes the righteous from the evil doers Or do those who commit evils think We will make them like those who have believed and done righteous deeds - [make them] equal in their life and their death? Evil is that which they judge. And God created the heavens and earth in truth and so that every soul may be recompensed for what it has earned, and they will not be wronged 45:28-31 explains a scene from the hereafter; people will be rewarded for their deeds, all deeds are recorded You shall see every nation on its knees. Every nation shall be summoned to its book of record, and God will say: "Today you shall be rewarded for your deeds. This book of Ours speaks about you with the truth. Surely We have recorded all your deeds." As for those who believed and did righteous deeds, their God will admit them into His mercy. That will be a glorious achievement. But as to those who disbelieved, God will say: "Were My revelations not recited to you? But you showed arrogance and chosen to be criminals"
  • 56. 46:13 teaches that the obedient believers can earn their salvation Indeed, those who have said, "Our Lord is God ," and then remained on a right course - there will be no fear concerning them, nor will they grieve 51:50 teaches that God is the only refuge to flee to. The verse does not mention the sources of the risks to flee from; the only safe haven from all disasters is God So flee to God . Indeed, I am to you from Him a clear Warner 63:10 urges us to spend money to support the poor And spend [in the way of God ] from what We have provided you before death approaches one of you and he says, "My Lord, if only You would delay me for a brief term so I would give charity and be among the righteous." 76:27 warns those who just enjoy life and forget to think about their sal- vation Indeed, those [disbelievers] love the immediate life and leave behind them a grave Day 80:34-37 warn about the Day of Judgment On the Day a man will flee from his brother, And his mother and his father, And his wife and his children, on that Day, to every one of them will his own state be of sufficient concern 24:22 urges forgiveness “...and you should forgive And overlook: Do you not like God to forgive you? And God is The Merciful Forgiving.” 83:2-3 urges justice “Woe to those... who, when they have to receive by measure from people, they demand exact full measure, but when they have to give by measure or weight to people, give less than due” 4:8-9 urge people to take care of the orphans and the needy
  • 57. “...orphans and the needy, give them something and speak kindly to them. And those who are concerned about the welfare of their own children after their death, should have fear of God [Treat other people's Orphans justly] and guide them properly.” 2:267 urge people to spend of the good things that they have earned “O you who believe! Spend [benevolently] of the good things that you have earned... and do not even think of spending [in alms] worthless things that you yourselves would be reluctant to ac- cept.” RELIGION DISTORTION Amos 8:11-12 teaches that people will be thirsty for the true word of God but they will not find it anywhere Jeremiah warned of the scribes who change the word of God Jeremiah 8:8-13 “‘How can you say, “We are wise, for we have the law of the Lord,” when actually the lying pen of the scribes has handled it falsely? Since they have rejected the word of the Lord, what kind of wisdom do they have? Jeremiah 6:13 warns the priests who are greedy for gain and who practice deceit Jeremiah 5:30-31 A horrible and shocking thing has happened in the land: The prophets prophesy lies, the priests rule by their own authority, and my people love it this way Jeremiah 23:16 warns of the false teachers who fill people with false hopes They speak visions from their own minds, not from the mouth of the Lord Jeremiah 23:21 and 14:14 warn of the false teachers who claim that they re- ceive God’s revelations
