Comparison of Robotic-Assisted and
Conventional Total Knee Arthroplasty
Robotic-Assisted Total Knee Arthroplasty
• Enhanced accuracy in femoral rotational alignment
• saves blood, lessens the risks of transfusion and may be useful in patients for whom blood products are not acceptable
• execute his preoperative plan with an accuracy below 1° and achieve optimum to very good results regarding
tibiofemoral alignment
Conventional Total Knee Arthroplasty
• At two years post-operatively the functional outcome between the computer-navigated and conventional groups
appears to be no different despite the better alignment achieved using the computer navigation technique
• Conventional surgeries are less expensive
• Conventional surgeries are quicker than robotic-assisted total knee arthroplasty
After analyzing the evidence, I conclude robotic-assisted differs from conventional total knee arthroplasty in immediate
results. There were no significant differences in long-term outcomes, which makes me support conventional total knee
arthroplasty surgeries.
