Every day in America, in every middle school… Lunch is served… yet AT EACH SCHOOL, DAILY… HUNDREDS of fresh APPLES, BANANAS, ORANGES, unopened pints of MILK, and packaged items such as granola bars, etc. get THROWN AWAY…untouched… …………………………………………TOSSED….LOST. Enough is wasted that could feed a village of hungry people, DAILY. Each day, in every school, throughout America’s ~small country towns~ and ~big inner cities~ and ~suburbs~ …Public & Private schools…free lunches or paid. IT HAPPENS EVERYWHERE. - EVERY DAY. It ends up in the outdoor school garbage receptacles. TRAGIC
4. This Food could… No…this Food WILL: SAVE LIVES! >>>>>by feeding>>>>> Malnourished Children, Single Mothers, Homeless Families, Battered Women, The Mentally Ill And/or other disabled that cannot work and therefore are not able to afford basic necessities, like …………… FOOD.
5. D.O.D.“Designate/Organize/Distribute” 1. DesignateColoredBinsin Lunchrooms. 2. Organize Volunteers or Workers to Pick-Up & replace these with clean bins after the lunch period ends, and to deliver to organizations. 3. Distribute the free food to selected organizations to use however they need to… maybe dinner, or snack, or breakfast, etc. 4. Repeat every day school is in session.
6. TEENS WILL LEARN & FEEL PROUD This will teach our next generation to find a way to not let precious food go to waste. This will be a hands-on way to impact teenagers and help them understand up-close that there are needy in every corner of the world…even where they are. This will help instill pride in their school, but mostly in THEMSELVES. They can be proud to have given and helped feed another child, or family, or community. The kids will learn to serve and think of others. Integrate class field trips to take the food as a group to shelters, battered women’s centers, etc.
7. Tossed = Lost No more throwing away perfect food … period.
