How mums decide what's healthy (summary)Jeremy Hollow
Throughout the year we conduct research as part of our Original Insights series.
These are projects we commission ourselves, to explore interesting questions and showcase social listening research as a tool for making better decisions.
Our starting point for this work was the realisation that food advice has become deafening. It feels like everyday there’s a new diet, new scare or a new miracle cure.
But, we all know it’s more complicated than the headlines make out.
Helping your family eat well and be healthy is a life-long, every day mission, one with many twists and turns.
So we decided to explore: how mums in the UK talk about being healthy, how and who they’re influenced by, and see what this means for brands.
And so our starting point became: how do UK mums decide what’s healthy?
How many times have you heard that regular physical activity does a body (and mind) good? Well that is true for parents and children alike! As parents – not only is it important for us to lead a healthy and fit life so we set up the right foundation for our children to lead fit and healthy lives themselves-- but it can also help us manage stress. And what parent doesn’t have stress? Join Stephanie Hoaglund – K12’s online community program manager and blogger of http://www.livefitandsore.com as she discusses the importance of making a commitment to lead a healthy and fit life, strategies to incorporate fitness activities into your family’s daily life, and resources to support and inspire you along the way.
2010 Peeps Show at UNH in Durham was a success! The community was encouraged to create dioramas depicting what it means to be healthy. The only rule was that the dioramas had to use Peeps. Here are the results. Enjoy!

A bestseller by Dr. Shriniwas Kashalikar is a victorious and blissful expedition (benefiting millions); to simultaneous blossoming together of one and all through namasmaran & freedom from pettiness!
It is ignored that; just as we unmistakably we satisfy our needs, wants, whims and fancies; (and be happy?); we ought to communicate, interact, complement one another and spread and share this cosmic benevolence in NAMASMARAN (SIMARAN, SUMIRAN, JAAP, JAP, JIKRA i.e. remembrance of trues self) to engender holistic renaissance. We tend to remain in self contentment in our respective traditions and cults. We don't do heart to heart communication and do not give even feedback.
NAMASMARAN enables us to conquer (and even emancipate) ghosts (categorized as unexplainable or partially explainable psychosomatic, psychiatric and other individual and social problems)! In NAMAMSRAN; the disputes created by and based on modern and traditional semantics; get dissolved because of the common sublime experience and the objective manifestation of benevolence!
We have the privilege to verify this through persistent practice of NAMASMARAN. We have the golden opportunity to verify the empowering and enlightening experience. Lastly; we have the life time chance; to multiply this ever blossoming experience by sharing it with billions; in an efficient and versatile manner.

This project was organized by Deb Kindy, and created by second semester nursing students for their Mental Health coursework for the Sonoma State Nursing Program. The paper is a blueprint for an outpatient living community for people with major mental health diagnoses. This project is now underway, and is being built as a trial in Sonoma County for our mental health patients.
Introduction
Thanksgiving will be here in just a few weeks (or you could say the holiday season depending on when the class is taught) and we’ll soon be spending time with our families and enjoying – or in some cases preparing – a feast of mashed potatoes and gravy, buttery rolls, a golden-brown turkey, and let’s not forget the pumpkin pies! Not to mention the holiday shopping and yummy treats from neighbors and friends. It’s the time of year when we think about the things we are grateful for.
Tell about one of your own Thanksgiving Day traditions. Use visual aids such as a pie dish, china plate, silverware, pumpkin, etc to help generate ideas. Then ask the class…
What are some of your family traditions at Thanksgiving? What memories do you have as a child or even with your own children or grandchildren at this time of year?
We each have wonderful traditions but did you know that learning about your family health history could be the most important tradition you make this Thanksgiving?
