Titu is a town in Dambovita County, Romania located in a bush region crossed by rivers. At the end of the 19th century, the rural commune of Titu comprised several villages with a total population of 1606 people and included four churches, two schools, a steam mill, and local administrative institutions. The villages of Cornetu and Boteni, now part of Titu, had a combined population of 1854 people in the late 19th century and contained a steam mill, flour mill, alcohol factory, two churches, and a school. As of 2011, the town of Titu had a population of 9658 people and incorporated several surrounding villages.
