We’ll first look at various definitions of “mobile” including apps, responsive design, mobilized web sites, and more – their pros and cons, and tools you can use to create them. We’ll then look at how you might have to change your documentation practices in order to move to mobile, such as requiring greater syntactical rigor, eliminating local formatting, using relative fonts and media queries to create resizable tables and content, and more.
You’ll leave this presentation with a solid understanding of options for going mobile and how your work may have to change to stay on the cutting edge of technical communication.

This talk described ideas, principles and methods related to building mobile App backends in Joomla. The Joomla front end is an ideal tool to provide app content administrators the ability to control their app. We'll look at several examples of this process for Apps developed for the UK education sector. The Apps typically use RESTful JSON interfaces to pull and push data to and from the Joomla backend.
Within Joomla the FieldsAttatch a jBackend are used and extended upon. We'll look at the Joomla solution, what we used and what we added. We'll also touch on App development, including cross platform native app development with Ti Appcelerator, continuous integration of multiple rolling releases, team skill-sets, privacy issues and business cases.
It'll be a narrative of the project's journey, ideas, paths and reflections.
Although there will be some technical detail, it should appeal more generally too.

Alius will share his own experience on building hybryd applications based on PhoneGap also he promised to explain why he suddenly changed his own opinion about native apps and switched back to Xamarin.

- 9. The good • Great for data centric apps • Mashupapps – Built in Facebook and twitter API – Good web services support • Straight forward • Prototyping • Good community • With commercial support (if you need it)
- 10. Not so good • Wouldn’t recommend for games • Some UI elements not as responsive as the native controls • Doesn’t have the refined controlled as native • Can be a bit of a slave to the API – Eggoogle maps, no route • Past have some really bad breaking changes – Can’t compile old projects
