Causes And Effects Of Animal Cruelty In Australia
Animal cruelty is a rapidly growing nationwide problem. Animals are being hurt and starved
everyday. Acts of violence towards animals, animal neglect and even psychological harm are
forms of animal cruelty. If you check the webpage of RSPCA Australia (Royal Society for the
Prevention of Cruelty to Animals), you will find a list of actions and conditions that can be
qualified as cruelty to animals. The list includes such points as torturing or beating an animal;
failing to provide it with food and appropriate treatment in case of disease or injury; killing an
animal in an inhumane manner; failing to provide appropriate transportation conditions, and so on.
According to statistics, animals who suffer from cruelty most often are dogs (64.5%) and cats
(18%). 25% are for other animals, such as horses (The Humane Society). Supposedly, it means
domestic pets are the most vulnerable category to suffer from cruelty; also, it might mean cruelty
towards animals is a result of pet owners demonstrating their anger, frustration, or stress on the
closest and most defenseless creatures. Greyhound racing, puppy farms and animal testingare three
major examples of animal cruelty. Thousands of animals are being mistreated in Australia
Legal commercial greyhound racing is formally regulated in Australia. Greyhound racing, which is
an example of animal cruelty, is a competitive sport in which greyhound dogs are raced around a
track. Australia is one of one eight countries where greyhound

Therapeutic Modification Essay
After the ethical examination of both therapeutic and enhancement gene modification, it can be
stated that therapeutic gene modification is a good thing and enhancement gene modification can
be a bad thing. But the other issue is where do you draw the line between the two gene
modifications. On paper it might seem like a clear cut distinction but take the example of children
who use human growth hormone. Assume a child has a medical condition and their treatment
stunts their growth, so they are prescribed human growth hormone. The human growth hormone is
able to help the child grow to his normal hight thus returning him to the baseline. But now that there
is a doctor prescribing human growth hormone, and different parent hear about this treatment...

I believe that there is nothing wrong with the therapeutic gene modification when it involves
somatic cells. I think that it is our moral responsibility to do what we can to help save the lives
of people who are suffering. The doctors who would be proscribing the treatment have all made
a hippocratic oath so it would be their moral duty to follow through on using this particular
treatment. Therapeutic gene manipulation with somatic cells would break any moral, ethical, or
legal laws. But the other forms of genetic manipulation are a little tricky. Therapeutic gene
manipulation of germ cells can be a useful treatment of disease but its effect plays a role in a
larger scope then just the patient alone. I think that it poses a greater risk to the whole of
humanity of we allow changes to germ cells and future generations. It would open the door to all
other types of genetic manipulation. So rules have to be put in place so no abuse of medical
treatment occurs. Finally there should not be any type of enhancement gene modification
occurring. I think that it will overall produce more harm then good. It is not a medical procedure
that is used to help people who are suffering it would simply be a mechanism that would only play a
negative role in human development, simultaneously breaking many ethical rules along the way.

A Work Of Artifice By Marge Piercy s Barbie Doll
Treatment of Women in Society Throughout History Women have a major role, not only in
society but also in history. The poems A Work Of Artifice and Barbie Doll by Marge Piercy,
demonstrates the ideology that society has about women in general. This two poems by Marge
Piercy gives a perspective on how women have been treated throughout history and what a woman
has to do in order to qualify to the expectations of society and be considered a perfect women .
Everyone has their own perspective on how a woman should be in order to be perfect. Probably the
perfect women could be the one skinny, small nose, long hair, perfect smile, etc. Barbie Doll by

Barbie Doll by Marge Piercy, the girl was Healthy, tested intelligent, possessed strong arms and
back. (7 8) this indicates that she was a normal girl, she was good, but she had a Big nose and
fat legs. (6) and that aspect made her imperfect. All the good things she had weren t important,
only the imperfections were pointed out. As well as A work of Artifice, Marge Piercy gives an
image of women as someone weak. The author states that The crippled brain, the hair in curlers.
In this quote is evident the stereotype of a woman, a woman without a brain who needs to
depend on someone else in order to think; she also needs to be pretty, and spend her time doing
her hair to look gorgeous. Both of the poems were written in different time of period, Barbie Doll
was written in 1971 and shows a clear idea that society doesn t think about how a comment can
affect someone and when that person is dead, all their flaws go away. This can be seen when the
author said, With the undertaker s cosmetics painted on, a turned up putty nose...doesn t she look
pretty? Everyone said. When the character is laying down, death, everyone thinks she looks pretty,
they don t find her any imperfection. Lastly, society s perspective hardly changed because A work
of Artifice by Marge Piercy was written in 1999 and the theme is the same. The treatment of women

Gaston Leroux s The Phantom Of The Opera
The Phantom of the Opera
The Phantom of the Opera, by Gaston Leroux, is an intense story that keeps readers intrigued
with complex and mysterious characters. Readers are told the stories of the lives of four different
characters. Each character s story is told in a different way over the course of the entire book.
Set in Paris, France in the late 1800 s, The Phantom of the Opera tells the tale of a love triangle
between a young woman, her childhood sweetheart, and a mysterious man believed to be a
ghost. Erik, also referred to as the Opera Ghost or the Angel of Music or the Phantom, lives in the
basement of the Paris Opera House and has a love for puzzles. He turned the opera house into a

The True Meaning Of The Gospel Of God
Around the world and throughout all the different versions of Christianity, there are so many
things that people call the gospel . Some say it is the only way to get to Heaven, or that it is a
doctrine of damnation that God sent us to right our wrongs. Ravi Zacharias stated in a video
sermon what he thinks that the gospel has become when he says, It became I think cheapened
and somehow diluted if not polluted and so an average person who view what is the gospel they
say it is the same old thing, you re a sinner and you re heading to hell... (Zacharias). Most
individuals in today s time do not know what Gods true love is or what the real meaning of the
gospel is truly because of the situations they have been in during their lives and what society has
made it out to be. According to Webster s Dictionary the definition of the word gospel is, The
message concerning Christ, the kingdom of God, and salvation, (Webstersdictionary.com).
Though this is a technical definition, the Gospel of God is so much more than just teachings.
The Gospel can help those who have never met God, since it is the good news that should be
preached to everyone, it is how believers go and make more disciples throughout the world, and
through it is a way for everyone to connect with God on a personal and spiritual level.
The Gospel is the Good News
The gospel is considered good news because it shows the truth in how triumphant our God and His
Son have been in conquering death. Jesus was sent down

Introduction From the name Diesel on a first thought one may think of: Automobile, Engines, Fuel,
Transport, Diesel brand which deals with clothing, shoes, perfumes. This is enough to have an idea
of what this man has contributed to today s society. Rudolf Christian Karl Diesel is a famous
engineer indeed and his path towards fame and fortune wasn t all rosy.
Early Life and Family Background Born on March 18, 1858 in Paris, France, Rudolf Diesel was the
son of Theodor Diesel who was a leather worker, and Elise Strobel. Diesel s parents were
Bavarian Germans from Augsburg. During the Franco Prussian War of 1870, the Diesel family
had to be expelled from France which caused them to transfer to London. Young Rudolf Diesel
was, however, was sent back to Augsburg by Theodor Diesel to continue the education at
Munich Polytechnic, where Diesel studied engineering. Rudolf Diesel became excited by
engineering as he visited the National Conservatory of Arts and Crafts several times. Rudolf
Diesel couldn t graduate in his 1879 class due to typhoid, but this didn t make him lose interest
in what he loved the most. The following year, Rudolf Diesel graduated with flying colours in
fields of Engineering. At Munich Diesel a student of the refrigeration engineer Karl Paul

The Theory Of Nursing Care
Nursing care through theory has continual made changes to provide the best care for patients across
the spectrum. From nursing models, to concepts, to evidence based practices that have stemmed
from theories, nursing care advances have come a long way. Theories have been the fundaments of
nursing to help nurses provide efficient care through structure , unity , assessing, planning, and
implementing interventions (White Zaccagnini, 2014).This paper will discuss how theories have
guided patient centered care in helping decrease infections in cancer who have central lines that
developed chemotherapy induced neutropenia.
There have been many advances in oncology care; unfortunately infections from healthcare settings
and the community are a major cause of hospitalizations and death in patients receiving
chemotherapy treatment via central lines. As healthcare providers, preventing infection with
patients who develop chemotherapy induced neutropenia can significantly decrease mortality and
morbidity for patients with cancer (Bush, Davis, Friese, Gillespie, Nirenberg, Rice, 2009).
Oncology nurses play a vital role in educating other healthcare providers, patients and family
members, on chemotherapy side effect with patients who are neutropenic, especially handling the
central line.
Fawcett described four core concepts common to the individual paradigms, patient environment
health nursing, that were derived from existing nursing theories (Fawcett, 1984). The concept of the

President Obama Hated On Friday Essay
President Obama hated on Friday what he called a Republican (series of actions to reach a goal) to
deny voting rights to millions of Americans as he stepped up efforts to motivate and excite his
political base heading into a competitive midterm campaign season.
Appearing at the once a year convention of the Rev. Al Sharptons National Action Network in
Manhattan, Mr. Obama (charged with a crime) Republicans of trying to rig the elections by making
it harder for older people, women, minorities and the make extremely poored to cast ballots in
swing states that could decide/figure out control of the Senate.
The right to vote is threatened today in a way that it has not been since the Voting Rights Act
became law nearly fifty years ago, Mr. Obama said in a hotel large room (for dancing) filled with
cheering supporters, most of them African American. Across the country, Republicans have led
efforts to pass laws making it harder, not easier, for people to vote.
Speaking a day after a (meeting to discuss things/meeting together) in Texas remembering (with
honor) the 50th (yearly recognition or celebration) of the Civil Rights Act, Mr. Obama linked the
issue to the movement that helped pave the way for him to become the nation s first black president.
America did not stand up and did not march and did not sacrifice to gain the right to vote for
themselves and for others only to see it denied to their kids and their (children of children), he said.

How Does Prufrock Show The Importance Of Time
T. S. Eliot s main purpose for writing The Love Song of J. Alfred Prufrock is to show the
importance of time. Prufrock, the main character and narrator of the story seems to think he has
plenty of time to sit around and wait forever to ask, whom we assume is someone he likes, an
overwhelming question (page 2524). Prufrock seems to be a big procrastinator, and uses the timehe
should be using to make excuses as to why he shouldn t rush since he has time later. Time for
you and time for me, And time yet for a hundred indecisions, And for a hundred visions and
revisions, Before the taking of a toast and tea (page 2525). In this quote Prufrock seems to stall
his question even more deciding that there is time to be indecisive before taking his toast and
tea. Prufrock s stalling and convincing of himself that there is more time, is exactly what makes
him not have time and grow old. Before we know it, Prufrock is an old man who now wonders
whether or not he should have used his time wisely when he was younger and would it have been
worth it, after all (page 2526). In the end, there is nothing he can do to get back the time he wasted
so he simply walks the beaches wondering whether the mermaids will come sing to him.

Psychological And Emotional Hazards Of Nurses
PSYCHOLOGICAL AND EMOTIONAL HAZARDS Like the general population, pilots are
susceptible to the same psychological problems other people may encounter. Historically, pilots
have had a deep distrust of psychologists and psychiatrists and are dismissive of psychological
theories. This deeply rooted negative disposition most likely has been formed from bad
experiences during training, licensing, selection, or during the routine tasks of managing daily
personal problems. Pilots typically have a lower chance of experiencing psychological disorders;
however, they are biologically human and prone to the vast spectrum of mental defects. Health care
providers need to recognize that pilots are human and at risk of mental instability. Pilots are at risk
of psychological disorders and triggers such as adjustment disorder, anxiety disorder, attention
deficit disorder/attention deficit hyperactive disorder, mood disorder, organic mental disorders,
personality disorder, psychotic disorder, and substance abuse. If a pilot is suspected of having any
of these conditions, more than likely, then they should be grounded and referred for treatment. All
of these conditions will not be discussed below. Adjustment disorders are maladaptive reactions to a
known psychosocial stressor that occur within three months after the onset of the stressor.
Adjustment disorders are one of the most common mental disorders in pilots. Symptoms include
anxiety, fatigue, and depression; lack of focus,

Assess The Role Of The Arab League During The Yemen Civil War
The main IGO that took part in the Yemen conflict was the Arab League. During the Yemen civil
war that took place between 1962 and 1970, the Arab League was made up of six member states
that included Yemen, Syria, Saudi Arabia, Lebanon, and Jordan. However, the Arab League was
later expanded to include twenty two member states. The role played by the Arab Leagueduring the
Civil war in Yemen, is evident from the roles in which the individual members of this union played
in order to further its interests. Egypt was known as the United Arab Republic during this conflict
and it had good relations with Yemen. In 1958, Yemen joined Egypt and Syria and the resulting
union was known as the United Arab State. However, this union did not last for... Show more

The new republican government was recognized by the Soviet Union and Egypt, but other
western powers that had interests in Yemen such as the US and the UK, failed to disclose whether
they supported the new Syrian government (Terrill and Army War College (U.S.) Strategic Studies
Institute 54). The Arab league played a contradictory role during the civil war in Syria, with some
members of the union supporting the republican forces while others went behind the royal forces
led by Imam Mohammed Al Bdr. Egypt supported the republican forces while Imam Badr received
support from Jordan and Saudi Arabia. The republican forces embraced social progress and
republicanism, and were mainly present in cities, while Mohammed Al Bdr forces fought from
rural areas. The conflict in Yemen was partially caused by the action of Egypt to send soldiers to
support the overthrowing of the royal government. Saudi Arabia s involvement in the conflict was
based on the fear that the war could overspill into its borders, and therefore, it protected its
interests by lending material support to Imam Mohammed Al Bdr (Little 68). The republican
forces viewed the provision of material support to royal forces by Saudi Arabia as interference in
the internal affairs of Yemen. On the other hand, Saudi Arabia viewed the involvement of Egyptian
troops in the conflict as a threat to its oilfields and its monarchy (Terrill and Army War College

Essay On Low Flight Hours
Unmanned Aircraft Systems have taken the Army by storm. While most units fly on a regular
basis, easily meeting their hourly requirements, and becoming very proficient at these tasks.
There are several National Guard Units that continuously fail to meet these requirements. I think
that if every National Guard Unit was able to conduct flight operations where they held weekend
drills. You would see a drastic increase in annual hours flown, as well as overall proficiency and
retention of soldiers in these units. Throughout this paper I will discuss HOR (home of record)
unit s flight hour s vs non HOR unit s flight hours. Along with the other difficulties these units face.
I will also discuss the effects that low flight hours have on soldier s... Show more content on

It is my opinion that the above stated problems with the inability to fly, mission readiness, and
proficiency, in turn lead to a negative command relationship. A negative command relationship
could potentially lead to a lack of trust between leadership. As well as a tension, meaning
command may not believe that you are utilizing all of your Soldiers, therefore they need 4
Soldiers for a detail. However, based on the UAS MTOE, providing Soldiers for details is
practically impossible and could negatively affect flight operations. Having a positive command
relationship will exponentially increase a Units overall ability to operate successfully. Based on
the above mentioned difficulties associated with conducting flight operations while not having a
flight line at your duty station. I think it is fair to associate the inability to perform flight ops at a
Drill duty station with these National Guard Units failing to meet their requirements. Thus in turn
creating less proficient soldiers, which can ultimately lead to lack of desire to stay in the National
Guard. Soldiers enlist to perform a job, and without the ability to perform the desired job comes a
lack of interest in being a National

How Does Edmond Dantes Change In The Count Of Monte Cristo

wants to take revenge on everyone who wronged him. In the beginning of The Count of Monte

that seemed to have a bright future ahead of him. Later on, Edmond Dantes changes tremendously

Edmond carefully mapped out his plans of how he will leave his enemies devastated once he
gets it. After he returned the horses that he bought off of Danglars, Edmond asks Ali, I
understand you re very skillful in throwing the lasso. Is that right?... listen : A short time from
now a carriage will pass by drawn by two runaway dappled gray horses, the same ones I had
yesterday (Dumas 206). Dantes uses his servant Ali to make himself look good. By having Ali
save Mrs. Villefort and her child, he gains their favor and the whole family now completely
trusts him with their lives. This act enables Dantes to get closer to Villefort and take his justice.
Moreover, Edmond has been able to plan out how he will take his retribution among everyone,
all at once. Edmond reunites a father and son. They think that he is mistaken, but since they are
being paid an abundant amount of francs, they accept it, and pretend as if they are actually
father and son. As the two leave the house, the Count thinks to himself, There go a pair of

as the father and mother. Later on, the son will find out his real father and mother, and the
parents will learn that their son is still alive after trying to kill him as a baby. To sum up, the

The Rock Towers On Her Property
Like the defendant in Moore, Herrera is entitled to summary judgment as a matter of law in this
action, because she could not have known or realized that the rock towers on her property
would pose an unreasonable risk of death or serious bodily injury to Maria. Herrera s private
property is located in a remote location in Arizona where she allows adults to view her land art
by appointment only. It is reasonably understandable that Herrera does not like uninvited or
unwanted individuals on her property at anytime. Moreover, since the land art was for adults only
to view, she never allowed children on her property to view her land art. As a result, no injuries

Here, however, this argument ignores the fact that Herrera fulfilled her duty as a landowner to not

and the land art on her property.
Therefore, Herrera is entitled to summary judgment because she could not have known or realized

Essentially, cystic fibrosis causes a lot of sticky mucus buildup in many organs, including the
pancreas, lungs, and other organs. One interesting fact about Cystic Fibrosis has to do with its
epidemiology, interestingly enough, the distribution and prevalence of cystic fibrosis does
depend on race; white people have a higher chance of being born with Cystic fibrosis, this is
believed to be because the emergence of cystic fibrosis began in the stone age in Europe (Daniel,
Emanuela, Genel Lucia, 2015). Since cystic fibrosis is a recessive autosomal disease, a person
affected inherits two mutated genes from each parent as opposed to a single gene. Cystic Fibrosis
is caused specifically in the CFTR (cystic fibrosis transmembrane conductance regulator) gene ,
within this gene the most common mutation is the deletion of phenylalanine at codon 508, this is
the most common mutation within the 1600 known possible mutations for cystic fibrosis (Alton,
Bush, Davies, 2007). The ideal path to diagnose cystic fibrosis is through measuring sweat
electrolyte levels, doctors measure the sweat levels and then check to see if the levels are
abnormally high, as with Cystic fibrosis patients there is a high concentration of chloride and
sodium (Alton, Bush, Davies, 2007). After diagnosis, the main

Buddhism In Japan
In Japan, Buddhist temples are places for paying reverence to objects of spiritual worship as well
as other religious activities and observances.
Buddhist temple composites originated in India, where the main structures were quarters known as
vihara, where monks engaged in religious training. There were also chaitya halls for worshiping
Buddhist images, and rounded stupas said to enshrine bits of bone (sarira, or shari in Japanese)
from the historical Buddha, Siddhartha Gautama. Buddhist temples in Japan developed a unique
individuality after incorporating influences from China and Korea. During the Asuka and Nara
periods, many temples had a design following the Shitennoji model, centering around a tower like

Heian period as well as the spread of the raigo concept. The appearance of Amida Halls with
attached gardens in a single compound, inspired by the desire to produce replicas of Amida s
Western Paradise of the Pure Land , had surfaced. The Phoenix Hall (Hoodo) of the Byodoin south
of Kyoto is the most famous structure of this type. New temple styles were adopted from the Asian
continent due to the popularity of Zen in the Muromachi period. Numerous imposing Zen
compounds were also constructed at this time. While large cultural centers like Kyoto have several
thousands of temples, virtually every Japanese municipality has at least one temple. Buddhist
objects are stored and displayed at temples. Some temples were formerly monasteries, and some still
function as such. Structures typically found at Japanese temples are:

Contrast Sensitivity Function
SPA Lab 4: CONTRAST SENSITIVITY FUNCTION
Ciara Dubose
University of Central Oklahoma
Abstract
The purpose for this experiment is to determine at which spatial frequency does a participant s
visual acuity for a contrast sensitivity function display a peak performance across different sine
wave gratings. The ability to contrast sensitivity is useful in everyday life, more than people
imagine. These contrast sensitivity functions focus primarily on the participants ability to detect
accurately the presence of a sine wave grating across different levels of contrast. The one way
repeated participants design indicated there was a reliable effect of spatial frequency on contrast
sensitivity. The conclusions of this experiment... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Participants seeking to measure the contrast sensitivity over differing spatial frequencies used the
instructions as a guide to perform this experiment. The experiment implored the use of a computer
to display the screen images necessary to test the ability of participants contrast sensitivity. The
standard computer keyboard was necessary to allow the participants to indicate the order that the
target stimulus is present. This particular experiment used a random order showing the target
stimulus in different orders to allow the participant the ability to test their contrast sensitivity to the
differing spatial frequencies.
Design
This experiment used a one way within participants design. The independent variable for this
experiment is the differing factors of the spatial frequencies. The first condition in the experiment
used a spatial frequency with a sine wave grating of four; the second condition used a spatial
frequency with a sine wave grating of eight; the third condition used 16; the fourth condition used
32; the last condition used 64. The dependent variable for this experiment that measured the
participants visual acuity is contrast sensitivity. This experiment measured the contrast thresholds
for differing sine wave gratings among participants and compared them across the five factors of the
independent variable.
Procedure
The participants asked to perform a task involving the ability to determine the presence of a

Speech For Freshman Class Senator
My fellow tigers, today I officially announce my candidacy for Freshman Class Senator. I come
before you all today, humbled by all that God has blessed me with. I am a first generation college
student, I come from a single parent household and I understand how hard it was for some of us
to reach this far. Although this class has not been with each other for an extended period of time, I
have been able to shake some your hands, hear some of your stories, and understand how we could
improve this school together. On today I think back on the rich history of Texas Southern University
. I think about all that this institution and its student have had to endure over time. I think about the
marches and sit in s on the tiger walk, I think about the false stigmas that have been latched upon
any student who has attended this institution, I think about the Jordans and Leland s who never
gave up in the face of fear, who never lost hope... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
A lot of issues to be addressed. However, I have put together a four point plan that will begin to
move us in the direction of progress. First, let us reduce the cost of textbooks. Because no
student who has made it this far should bear the uncertainty of whether or not they will have
enough to get a textbook and have their education potentially shut down due to rising textbook
cost. Second, let us establish fiscal responsibility. As your Senator, I will guarantee that your
money is spent wisely on programs that will benefit each and every one of you. Third, let us
work toward bringing new career internship opportunities for all of you here on campus. These
opportunities will be able to provide you all with job experience within an area you would like to
pursue in the future. And finally, let us bring more inclusiveness to the Class of 2020. As your
Senator, I will host Freshman town halls every month to truly understand the issues you all face
here on a daily basis. But, also to hear your voices and

Feasibility Study For A Business
Undertaking a feasibility study for a start up business or for any project that required investment
would not be a waste of effort, even, if eventually the business idea becomes irrelevant. The
business feasibility study always explores the potential viability of a business idea for
entrepreneurs as an informed process on how to go about the business idea. Ultimately, cost and
value of the products or services are often used as criteria to validate the feasibility study
activities. Peeters (2013) described business feasibility study as an assessment of the practicality
of a proposed business idea, plan or methods. A feasibility study for any business plan or idea

Shamanism and the Indigenous Peoples of Siberia Essays
Shamanism and the Indigenous Peoples of Siberia
Shamanism plays a role within most tribal communities of the indigenous peoples of Siberia.
Within the community the shaman has many roles; one of his[1][1] main roles is that of a healer.
The function of the shaman is closely related to the spirit world (Eliade 71). A shamanuses ecstatic
trance to communicate with spirits. Spirits are integral to a shaman s ability to heal within his
community.
Shamanic activity is generally a public function (Grim 11 12). Shamans are highly respected
members of the community. Shamans are of the elect ; recognition of a shaman can only be
bestowed by the entire community (Eliade 7, 17). Without the community, a shaman is not a shaman

The gods created man, and he lived happily until the time when the evils spirits spread sickness
and death over the earth. The gods decided to give mankind a shaman to combat disease and death,
and they sent the eagle. (Eliade 69)
Many tribes, other than the Buryat, consider the eagle, sent by the Supreme Being, to be the
creator of the first shaman . These peoples include the Yakut of Turkhansk, Yenisei Ostyak, the
Teleut, and the Orochon. Therefore according to this legend, the shaman s initial purpose was to
exterminate the evil spirits of sickness and death that plagued the people; in other words, one of
the shaman s first purposes was to heal (Eliade 69 71).
As a healer, the shaman puts energy into the community. The shaman dramatizes and makes
visible the incomprehensible mystery of all existence. . . . The shaman s ritual assures the flow of
such vital energy into the community . . . [with the idea that] no man can succeed in life alone, and
he cannot get the help he needs from men (Vilmos Dioszegi qtd. in Grim 13). An individual needs
this assistance from the higher powers of the sacred and the profane in the spirit world; this
assistance can only be achieved with the guidance of the shaman.
The shaman allows the community to perceive holiness of higher powers by experiencing and
absorbing sustaining, healing power and communicating this power to his community. This power
has a transformative quality to it that is

Taylorism, Scientific Management, Is a Theory of...
Introduction
Taylorism, additionally known as Scientific Management, is a theory of management methodology
that emphasizes on maximising work efficiency. Developed and named after an American industrial
engineer, Frederick Winslow Taylor. Through thorough use of a stopwatch and a clipboard, Taylor
put all his research and outcomes into a book called the Principles of Scientific Management, which
was later published in 1911. In the monograph Taylor s notion was to mend the economical
proficiency, principally in the labouring output. He believed that there were great losses, when the

Helping an organisation to handle the most efficient use of its properties and accomplish set targets
is the prime job of a management. The management of an establishment will consist of an
operational structure which will clearly underline the different ranks of individuals, groups and
departments. While the preliminary procedure of Scientific Management in dealing with matters of
work efficiency and productivity is related back to the late 19th century and early 20th century in
the history of management theory, the equivalent of managerial necessities are evident in the
industry today and the application of Scientific Management s fundamental principles can be
exercised to successfully benefit both efficiency and productivity in a 21st century organisation.
Benefits
The number one reason as to why Scientific Management is still essential for any form of
organisations in the current century lies in its effectiveness. The theory behind aims to establish
amended alternative approaches to productions and inefficiency carried out during manufacturing
activities. At present times, a modernised version of Scientific Management will be applied to
businesses, enclosing all of the key principles. And when it is utilised, the performance is carried

embroidery floss that matches the color of the back and coordinates with the front, trim to about 1
inch. Every quilter will sometimes need to rip out a seam. When this happens to you, be patient
and know that as you gain experience, there will be less ripping. You will need to purchase sewing
supplies before you can sew. You will need a self healing cutting mat, cutting ruler, rotary cutter,

I have never been a huge fan of play yards because my children never stayed in them. They usually
became complacent and wanted to be taken out. So I figured play yards were a waste of money.
But for some reason, I decided to try the Graco Pack N Play Bugs Quilt because it actually had a
few extras that came along with it. The Graco Pack N Play Bugs Quilt was around $75, which was
a bit steep for a play yard but ended up being worth the buy. The Graco Pack N Play Bugs Quilt
actually has fun and entertainment that your baby can really enjoy. It s around 9 square feet of
mesh contained space for my baby to crawl around and discover. Most play yards make your baby
feel as if they are being caged in but I didn t get that with the Graco Pack N Play Bugs Quilt. I m
going to assume neither did my baby because he stayed in the Graco Pack N Play Bugs Quilt for
most of the day, with no problems at all. The main reason why I liked the Graco Pack N Play
Bugs Quilt was because it came along with 4 interactive toys that my baby could play with and
keep him entertained. Alot of the times I would put his toys in his play yard so he would have
something to do. And most of the time he wouldn t play with them.So I didn t expect for him to
actually play with the toys that came with the Graco Pack N Play Bugs Quilt but he did. In
addition to the wonderful aspects of the Graco Pack N Play Bugs Quilt, I was capable of taking the

American Astronauts Mission To Space
Humans are delicate biological mechanisms capable of fantastic feats unlike those of any other
beings we coexist with on Earth. We alone have achieved leaving our lovely home planet and
venturing into space. I authored an accurate science fiction story about a crew of American
astronauts who, in a future year, are sent on a mission to a planet in a neighboring solar system. The
crew deals with space weather disrupting their flight, the physical challenges of moving through a
variety of gravity fields, rocket mechanics, and the challenges and differences of a new planetary
environment and atmosphere. The most emotionally difficult moment for the crew though in their
long journey is when a crew member passes away while in transit between destinations... Show

Galactic cosmic rays are protons with the ability to penetrate other molecules and heavy nuclei
(3), while solar particle events are protons or ions with low to medium energy (3). Galactic
cosmic rays have had all of their electrons stripped, originate outside of the Milky Way from
events such as supernovas (6), and travel at close to the speed of light (7). Galactic cosmic rays,
specifically the nuclei of heavier elements, have the capability to strike almost any object, human
or metal spacecraft included, and break apart the atoms (7). The broken atoms then release
subatomic particles, which act as radiation (7). Solar particle events are caused from solar storms,
and are protons or ions with the ability to penetrate space suits, and occasionally even the physical
spacecrafts (12).
Just on the International Space Station, the National Aeronautics and Space Administration, or
NASA, reported astronauts received around ten times more radiation than the average human in the
same measured time span (1). Although this statistic proves the risk to their personal health that
astronauts have taken for the sake of science, a mission to another planet would require the
astronauts leave the safety of Earth s magnetic field (1), where the International Space Station
resides. These astronauts would have even less of a buffer to protect them

Why Did Texas Fight In The Civil War
Friend versus friend, brother against brother. The Civil War was an extremely bloody war that
tore families apart. In the year 1861, Texas, an American slave state, seceded from the Union,
joining the Confederate states of America. Prior to the state s secession, Abraham Lincoln was
elected president; he was an abolitionist, so tensions rose throughout the nation and that resulted in
southern secession. Shortly after that, tensions snapped and the Civil War began. The question is,
why did the people of Texas fight in the Civil War? Texans fought in the Civil War because they
were pro slavery, supported State s Rights, and were loyal to Texas. One of the main reasons
Texans fought in the Civil War was the issue of slavery. According to the

EP 5 requires a written process for patients who refuse site marking or when it is impossible or
impractical to mark the site. This written process is absent in the hospital s policy. Nightingale s

Hospital physicians and staff must be educated on the necessary changes and the revised process
must be put into action. Once these changes have occurred, I recommend a focused audit to ensure
full compliance with the revised policy/process.
UP.01.03.01 requires a time out before the start of the procedure. The Site Identification and
Verification policy describes the time out process however the policy falls short of fully meeting
the intent of this standard. EP 2 describes which team members must participate in the timeout,
EP 3 requires a time out before each procedure when two or more procedures are being
performed, and EP 5 requires documentation of the time out. These 3 elements are missing from
the hospital policy/process and therefore revisions to the process/policy are necessary to include
these 3 elements. Nightingale s Safety Report reveals increasing compliance (nearing 100%) with
the time out process, however as mentioned above, EP 5 requires documentation of the process. In
addition to the policy revision, I recommend the development of a unique form which will be used

Advantages And Disadvantages Of Building System
1.0 Introduction
Human beings have long been using the activity of building construction. Take the Arabian region
for example, the pyramids in Egypt are one of the most shocking and astonishing wonders in the
world. Pyramids were built using a well organized building system which nobody still seems to
know, yet everyone recognizes and admits that it is so well built that it lasted for over 2000 years.
Humans for ages have been building shelters and buildings using different types of building
systems. For centuries, the traditional building system has been used for almost all types of
buildings. The mechanized building system was later introduced and adopted in many developing
countries. Nowadays, countries are tending to lean into a far more developed system due to the
many advantages it offers; that building system is the industrialized building system. But what
exactly differentiates the industrialized building system from the other two systems and what
advantages does it offer? This paper will briefly introduce the traditional and mechanized building
systems to compare them later with the industrialized building construction system and show the
reasoning behind countries adapting this system.
1.1 General terms in building systems
To introduce the mentioned systems, a brief definition of a building system is needed. Merritt and
Ricketts (2000) defined a building as an assemblage that is firmly attached to the ground and that
provides total or nearly total shelter for machines, processing equipment, performance of human
activities, storage of human possessions, or any combination of these. Merritt and Ricketts (2000)
expressed building design as the process of providing the information required for the construction

As the number of carbon atoms is increased the boiling point of the alkane is also increased.
Beginning at 1 carbon atom, the boiling point was 164 degrees. As another carbon atom was
added, this boiling point increased. This continued through to 10 carbon atoms which had a
boiling point of 174 degrees. In the second graph, it was found that the trend is decreasing. As
the number of carbon atoms is increased the melting point of the alkane decreased. Beginning at
1 carbon atom, the melting point was 182 degrees. As another carbon atom was added, this
melting point decreased. This continued through to 10 carbon atoms which had a melting point
of 30 degrees. Since the two alcohols used in this practical were Methanol and Propanol, the
boiling point of those two alkanes were focussed on. According to the graph and table, methane
had 1 carbon atom and a boiling point of 164 degrees, while propane had 3 carbon atoms and a
boiling point of 42 degrees. When testing the boiling points of these alcohols in the practical
experiment, it was found that alcohol A had a boiling point of 68 degrees and alcohol B had a
boiling point of 99 degrees. These results proved that methane was alcohol A and propane was
alcohol B. This was determined as alcohol A had a lower boiling compared to alcohol B. When
comparing the boiling point of methane and propane, methane had the lower

The Anxiety of Self Presentation in Bridget Jones s Diary
The book is about the anxiety of self presentation; Bridget is both Everywoman and an implicitly
ironic observer of Everywoman. (New Yorker) Helen Fielding writes about the anxiety of self
presentation in Bridget Jones s Diary. The New Yorkeraccurately identifies this central theme.
Moreover, it correctly asserts that Bridget s search for meaning and order in her life exemplifies
Everywoman. However, the New Yorker credits her with a far more heightened self awareness than
she possesses. Bridget is not an observer but a reporter. Observing suggests wisdom, often attained

The whole performance is so highly tuned you only need to neglect if for a few days for the whole
thing to go to seed (27).
Bridget has turned grooming into a science. Not only does sweat over aesthetic adjustments, but she
also considers her overall image, entertaining funny fantasies for the future. For example, when
Bridget thinks she s pregnant, she pictures Daniel rushing home from work, thrilled to find the two
of us pink and glowing in the bath, and, in years to come, being incredibly impressive at parent
/teacher evenings (100). Fielding creates irony here by highlighting the discrepancy between
Bridget s idyllic vision a premature plan to be an impressive parent and her neurotic behavior.
Still, women can relate, and the passage contributes to Fielding s development of Bridget as
Everywoman. In laughing at Bridget, readers laugh at themselves; it is easier to see the folly in
another s lofty plan. Similarly, Bridget often pictures Daniel and her living in the context of an ad,
running along beaches together with tiny offspring in manner of Calvin Klein ad, being trendy
Smug Married (113) or sipping pints in matching striped T shirts and watching the sun set over the
sea (113, 121). These visions are significant because of their fictional framework: Bridget

aspects of their personalities. Some days a person may be hailed as a saint for their actions, while
other days they seem absolutely evil. In most literature, characters are defined as good or evil

Most people would consider Dorian s personality to be swaying towards the evil side based on his
vanity and extreme concern with himself until Sibyl Vane becomes the most prominent part of his
life. Dorian meets Sibyl and instantly loves her. His instant love and compassion, though shallow,
could mean that he does care about others on a deeper level. Dorian cares so much as to ask his
good friend Lord Henry to tell [him] how to charm Sibyl Vane to [loving him]. [He] wants[s] to

affection of Sibyl Vane. Dorian makes his admiration for Sibyl apparent when he openly

worship the woman who is mine (ch 6). Dorian wins over the audience a bit with his avid display
of love. Readers sympathize with his ability to love, care and even worship a woman he has

In this, the dusk of the 20th century, to whom has the task of Benjamin s storyteller fallen? One
such contemporary storyteller is African American writer Toni Morrison, who in her novel Beloved
brings our present face to face with the image of the smashed bodies of Black slaves, forcing us to
re member and account for their experiences.
I
Benjamin has identified the catastrophe of history with the loss of communicable experience and
hence meaning in human life. The processes initiated in the Enlightenment, perpetuated in the rise
of positivistic philosophy, and culminating in the horrors of World War I have stripped humanity of
its experiential reality.
It is as if something that seemed inalienable to us, the securest among our possessions, were taken
from us: the ability to exchange experiences. . . For never has experience been contradicted more
thoroughly than strategic experience by tactical warfare, economic experience by inflation, bodily
experience by mechanical warfare, moral experience by those in power (Illuminations, 83 84).
What is lost is the art of the storyteller who, in the telling of the stories of a culture, passed on the
tradition from one generation to the next and with it the wisdom of experience. This wisdom is
nothing less than the knowledge and skill necessary to integrate the experiences contained in
tradition into the real lives of the listeners, to make them conscious of history.

The Patient Monitoring System
The Patient Monitoring System The patient monitoring system defined in the problem was
developed 5 years ago. That means it was developed somewhere in the year 2009. C32 was the
standard at that time. Consolidated Clinical Document Architecture (CCDA) was not developed
until 2011. This means that the system was never designed by keeping meaningful use of EHRs in
mind. Hence, it should be difficult for the system to pass all the criteria of meaningful use. Since
the criteria described in Stage 1 of meaningful use are present in Stage 2 as well, only Stage 2 will
be discussed in the following section. Problematic Meaningful Use Certification Criteria Following
is a list of Meaningful Use certification criteria that will likely be problematic for the patient
monitoring system of the ICU in Stage 2 attestations: Transitions of Care The EHR technology used
in patient monitoring system must be able to receive, display, transmit and incorporate transition of

system is fairly old, it will not support the structured documents that are supported by new systems.
Electronic Prescribing Electronic prescription allows the user to create a prescription electronically.
The user can attach all kinds of information to this electronic prescription. Again, the structured
document used by this system is not in conformance with the current standards and hence will be

Objective
This paper investigates the travel motivations of Chinese outbound tourists and how these are
expressed in the activities preferred by Chinese outbound tourists. The answers sought are therefore:
What characterizes the travel motivations of Chinese outbound tourists? How are the motivations
expressed in activities and actions? What are the implications for the future marketing of Odense
City?
To be able to attract Chinese tourists it is also necessary to look at what motivates Chinese tourists
to travel so that these motivations and through them the activities can be marketed by Odense City. 2
The research undertaken
The paper was supposed to be supported by an online survey among young Chinese on their
willingness to use the internet as a travel information source and vacation booking tool as well as a
short section on their knowledge of Denmark and their previous travel experience and their hope for
their future travels. However, the online survey was distributed via Facebook and Twitter, but the
Chinese government blocked the access to the internet at the time of data collection and only 9
respondents answered before access was cut off. This means that the survey results are not reliable
and cannot be used to illustrate and enlighten us on Chinese tourists internet usage and preferences.
Therefore the focus of the paper was changed to emphasize past studies of Chinese outbound
tourists and their travel motivations. Through this analysis

In Joseph Conrad s Heart of Darkness, Kurtz is through and through crazy, but he s the man that
none of his peers presume would be broken by the jungle. Kurtz throws caution to the wind and
pretty much defects and does what he pleases. I think that Rinehart would respect a man like
Kurtz because Rinehart does it all and doesn t let anyone, let alone society, dictate his action.
T.I.M. categorizes Rinehart as a fraud, because of his capacity to play so many roles (384).
Maybe Rine could give Kurtz a few tips about successfully maintaining a few different realities
and personas. I decided to add Rat Kiley to this table because he could put up with all the crazy
tales that the other men at his table have to tell. He also has a breakdown, like Kurtz s but not
quite as drastic, after the nightlife gets to him. His hallucinations of bugs all over saying These
pictures in my head, they won t quit...at night the pictures get to be a bitch. I start seeing my own
body. Chunks of myself...I swear, it s too much. I can t keep seeing myself dead (148). These
three are captivating characters on their own but between their hallucinations and willingness

preacher or get the hell out of the war by shooting oneself in the foot these three would sure make

The English Colonies In North America
J Taiya CarrREFLECTION PAPER 2HIS 201June 15, 2016 The English colonies in North
America were slowly separating themselves from the crown. It starts with radical kings in Europe
who cause so much disruption that a civil war occurs. The colonies worked together to fend for
themselves and survived quite well without the crown and Parliament watching over them.
England was not aware of it but every little thing they did to try reasserting command over the
colonies only pushed them farther away. If England had always kept a firm hand on the colonies,
we would be speaking proper English and marveling at our queen in the twenty first century. One of
the mistakes England made was allowing King James II to try enforcing control upon the colonies...

George Greenville could be blamed for all of it since he was chief minister and developed some
of these ideas. The colonists were not happy with Parliament s decisions to them without their
consent, especially since Britain s were the only ones able to be taxed since they had elected
representatives in Parliament. The Quartering Act seemed to be one of the last straws. The
colonists believed their requirement to house and feed British troops was England s way of
trying to dominate them. Thanks to Greenville, the Sons of Liberty was created in protest of the
laws created and wide spread protests began. The Stamp Act would soon be repealed and
Greenville replaced, but Parliament would pass the Declaratory Act to assert their power to
create laws over the colonies. It almost looked as if they were asking for a rebellion. The Sons
of Liberty grew stronger, protests larger, and the unfortunate Boston massacre happened. The
death of a few individuals by the hand of British soldiers influenced Parliament to repeal many
but not all acts. The tip of the ice berg was the Boston Tea Party. Due to disguises, the British did
not know who committed the act and decided to punish all of Boston. The end of result of all this
was the first Continental Congress that wrote a declaration, most likely practice for the big
declaration that would be written in a few years, that

San Antonio Museum Of Art Analysis
Upon visiting the San Antonio Museum of Art I found nothing about art extremely interesting
and I honestly wasn t looking forward to spending a majority of my day looking at art pieces.
However, as I approached the museum I was in awe of how beautiful the building was. The way
it was placed in downtown San Antonio was absolutely astonishing. As I walked through the
huge glass doors I knew I was in for a pleasant surprise. I carefully took the time to examine each
artwork and read the descriptions of each one. I found it extremely difficult to find just one I liked
and surprisingly I disliked a lot more pieces than I thought I would. I ended up having to actually
walk through the museum three times in order to find my chosen pieces. I didn t... Show more

This piece was created by Willie Cole in the year 1993. Willie Cole was born in America in
1995. I found this piece in the contemporary art section. I believe that this piece caught my eye
because of how huge it was, it was exactly 49 x 96 inches. This piece was so huge that it almost
took up an entire wall of the museum. This piece of artwork was made out of oil stick, chalk,
and latex on masonite and wood. To me, it kind of looked like chalk on a chalkboard with
nothing else. The way that the word America is placed out on the canvas gives just enough room
below each letter to write words that begin with each of the letters that spell out the word
America. I was unsure as to why this piece was created the way it was but with further research
on the piece I realized that Willie Cole created this art piece while sitting in front of the television
and writing down words said by the news reporters that contain the first letters of A, M, E, R, I, C,
A he also obtained the words by searching through the New York Times. How Do You Spell
America #6 is also one of the eight works that Billie Cole uses a chalkboard for. The letters that
contain the letter A that were popular in the news are Authorized, At, Abortion, Ask, A, After,
Ambushed, Annual, Asprin, Angered, African, An Activist, American, and Able. The words that
contain the letter M were Mood, Medical, Murderer s, Me, Multi, Midday, Motorist, May, Motorist,
Mother s, Melting Pot, Minister, Malaise, and Men. For E the words were Enhancing, Emergency,
Error, Eleven, Ethnic, Entire, Exits, Expenditure, Even, Excitedly, Embryos, Empire, Espouses,
Eases, and Everywhere. The words that make up the letter R are Remedy, Rooms, Ravaged,
Reasons, Rule, Remaining, Roadway, Report, Relieve, Ripped, Remain, Rejects, Rightwing, Right,

The Reduction Of 4 Tert ¬ -butylcyclohaxanone
In this experiment, the reduction of 4 tert¬ butylcyclohaxanone was performed using sodium
borohydride. To complete this reduction, 0.5010 g of 4 tert¬ butylcyclohaxanone was added to
6.0 mL of methanol and heated until the ketone dissolved completely. Next, 0.0510 g of sodium
borohydride was added to the solution. At this time, bubbles formed and an exothermic reaction
took place. After the solution was stirred for 20 minutes, 2 mL of sulfuric acid was added to the
flask. The solution became white and cloudy, and more bubbles formed. Immediately after the acid
was added, 5 mL of water was also put into the reaction flask. The solution was stirred for 10
minutes. During this time, a white solid formed. After this, the solution was... Show more content on

This was calculated by taking the mass of 4 tert¬ butylcyclohaxanol, dividing it by the theoretical
yield determined by mass of the limiting reagent, 4 tert¬ butylcyclohaxanone, and multiplying
by 100. This percent yield is respectable, but a higher one could have been obtained. A source of
error resulting in a lower percent yield was the filtering to remove the magnesium sulfate out of
the dried organic solution. When filtering, some of the liquid was absorbed into the filter paper,
prohibiting some of the product from being recovered. To prevent this loss, one should use a
pipet to recover the product from the magnesium sulfate. The product that was recovered during
this experiment, was spectroscopically analyzed, and a ratio of cis trans product was found. IR
and 1H NMR analysis was also performed for the starting ketone, 4 tert¬ butylcyclohaxanone.
The IR spectra, RM 07 Oi, contained peaks at 2947 cm 1, 2868 cm 1, 1720 cm 1, and 1365 cm 1.
These peaks represent a carbon hydrogen stretch, a sp3 hybridized carbon, a ketone and a ring
carbon carbon stretch, which are all present in 4 tert¬ butylcyclohaxanone. This confirms that the
initial ketone used was 4 tert¬ butylcyclohaxanone. The 1H NMR also proves this. Peaks found
at 2.34 ppm, 2.07 ppm, 1.45 ppm and 0.87 ppm show that only four chemical shifts occur in this
compound. There are not four types of hydrogens in this molecule, but some chemical environments
are similar resulting in only four

Dury Family History
Drury is English. This family descended from John De Drury, the son of a Norman French
nobleman, who fought his way to power in England along with William the conqueror in 1066.
The Drury s held large estates in Suffolk, England for centuries. Their coat of arms from the 1200 s
has a Tau cross between two gold stars on a green band across the top of a silver shield. The family
in later years moved over to the United States to get a better life and like people would say
restart in the new life of America. Drury descendants lived in Massachusetts as early as 1651. I
researched our history only as far back as my great grandfather who is James Amos Drury, born
in the year of 1827 or near that time. There are pieces from the family history that are missing or
we could just not figure out but I tried my best to find all the information I could. James died
December 9, 1862 and is buried at National Cemetery, Plot 4 1862, Grave #6100, Section B,
Nashville, Tennessee. He enlisted January, 1862 in the Civil War from his home state of Indiana
where he resided with his family near Pendleton. He was stricken with chronic diarrhea and died at
Hospital number 12 at Nashville, Tennessee. On July 27, 1848 he was united in marriage to... Show

Forrest Thomson Poetic Artifice Analysis
Two Co Option Co option is I argue most clearly defined by Veronica Forrest Thomson s Poetic
Artifice. A text, that pushed back against critics of the previous generation and endeavoured early
on to integrate structuralist thought with post structuralist. This integration between structuralism
and post structuralism can be seen as an attempt to get at the importance of poetry. In an attempt
to stress and illuminate poetry s unique ability to be transformative of both language and the
world. Forrest Thomson in Poetic Artifice demands an intense focus on all the rhythmic,
phonetic, verbal and logical devices which makes poetry different from prose to best consider
this transformative nature. It is in this distinguishing of poetry from prose, and the highly
formalist manner and structuralist distrust of language s transparency in which she follows that
one can also see a similar differencing between the broader spectrum of literature with the
sciences. There is no need in Forrest Thomson s work for differing areas to be inclusive of one
another, to the point of loss of individuality, because of a homogenizing of methodology and
epistemic reasoning. Throughout both Poetic Artifice and her thesis Poetry as Knowledge: The
Use of Science by Twentieth Century Poets, Forest Thomson can be seen to put forward a new
structure, in which separation is crucial for any kind of interrelation between the two fields of
knowledge. She follows a similar stance as that of Kelly

Adversity And Struggle In Billy Elliot
Billy Elliot Billy Elliot was a story of adversity and struggle. It follows a young boy who
becomes a great success at ballet after he starts attending dance classes instead of his boxing
classes. The play uses parallel storylines of the struggle for coal mine workers rights and Billy s
struggle to become a great dancer. It takes place in an impoverished town in the UK during the
80 s but it was performed in 2017 at the Berkeley playhouse. The play is impactful because it
satires gender stereotypes and advocates for the payoff of hard work. My favorite character was
the ballet teacher. The actress made great use of the stage and her props. I loved the way she
swayed in her fur lined silk robe and how she used her faux cigarette. It really conveyed the life
story of the character and made her stand out. It gives her an aura of strength but also a certain
feeling of tragedy as if she had always wanted to become a star. Her beat changes were very
distinct throughout the play. Each line was... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Her first challenge comes when Billy himself does not want to do ballet because of his
preconceived ideas that only girls and gay boys do it. The teacher pursues her objective by
being stern and demanding. This gets Billy to take dancing seriously and she furthers her goal.
However, trouble comes when Billy s father finds out that he is not doing his boxing lessons. The
teacher tackles this with her stern tactics from before but intermixes an appeal of sympathy for
Billy s talent. Unfortunately, she is unsuccessful and has to result to being secretive in order for
Billy s father not to find out. The conflict between the two characters was very intense due to
conflicting objectives and strong tactics; it raised the stakes and grabbed the attention of the
audience. This makes the viewer root for Billy to succeed despite his

Music Has An Acute Effect On People
Music has an acute effect on people. It has the power and versatility to make people feel contempt
and miserable. This versatility makes it popular among people, as there are a wide variety of
moods displayed in music that can reflect the listeners well being. Jazz has been an extremely
popular form of music throughout time. Its interesting melodies and meaningful lyrics give voice to
artists to display their emotions through beauteous music. During its heyday in the 1920 s, jazz
singing was a landscape of the American sound (Carr 9). Being a jazz singer, Billie Holiday
deserves to be put on the list of the 100 most influential people of the 20th century. Not only for her
being in the general population of influential jazz musicians, but... Show more content on

Holidays voice influenced jazz world, by widening the spectrum of what jazz could be, thus
opening jazz up to more vocal types. This influence revolutionized jazz singing by bringing a
fresh voice to a world of jazz that was still growing in the 1920 s. Holiday had a superiority of skill
level to other jazz singers in the 1920 s, so it is unquestionable that the influence of her distinct
voice reached many, as her fame allowed her to.
Holiday had a keen effect on her masses as her exceptional voice made her audience connect
with her and feel a certain way about her that no one else could match. Her haunting, sometimes
even eerie sound had a mysterious effect on her audiences... In her small pretty voice, capable of
creating new, blue sounding melodies, they heard the sound of nostalgia a longing for missed
opportunities, and lost love (Gourse Billie 14). Holiday was far more than a singer, she was a
common person. She had both woes and triumphs, as all people do, and she did not hide that in her
voice. Holiday used her distinctly haunting voice to lure one in to listen, and once they were
listening, they saw their own struggles in her melodies. By doing this, Holiday connected with her
audience and portrayed her humanity to them. The distinct vocal cues, a grunt or a moan, could be

Persuasive Speech On Life In Our Life
Inhale. Exhale. Breathe. It appears that you have taken one step closer to death. Death is all
around us; the air we breathe every day, hour, minute, second is crucial to our survival. However,
air can be seen as a double edge sword. Air, is what is keeping us alive, for if we stopped breathing,
we would die of suffocation. On the other hand, the longer we breathe, the closerwe are towards
death. In this sense, a burning what if question has been on my mind: what if the air we are
breathing is a poison that is slowly killing us? Think about that. If this were to be true? What have
you done...or plan to do that makes breathing this poisonous air worthy?
Many people today waste much of their life doing useless things. They do not realize that each
breath they spend on the couch or dreaming of things they could do, they are wasting their
opportunity to really do something. Let me break this down for you. Life expectancy for a
typically American is about 79 years or 948 months. Of those 79 years, 1/3 of the time is spent
sleeping, leaving us with about 632 months. After taking into consideration factors such as eating,
using the restroom, and browsing the internet, we are left with roughly 19 years to live. 19 years
may seem like a lot, but that is only about 24% of your life that is actually in your hands. After
finding out these surprising stats, I began to rethink my life. I looked a little closer around the
community I grew up in and realized that there was a huge need within my community.
I first began to get involved within my community eighth grade year through the Community
Thanksgiving Meal. At first, I did not realize that all the people coming in for a meal or the
places that needed a delivery was all just right within my community. As the years went by, I
slowly became more and more involved. I started from only coming in on Thanksgiving Day to
help to being there every step of the way. I remember volunteering to coordinate a clothing drive
last year to give clothes to those in need during the Thanksgiving Meal. At the end of that
Thanksgiving Day, a lady comes up to me and asks if she could grab a few extra items. The lady
had on a thin coat and I immediately knew that she needed help. I ran and

  • 2. Causes And Effects Of Animal Cruelty In Australia Animal cruelty is a rapidly growing nationwide problem. Animals are being hurt and starved everyday. Acts of violence towards animals, animal neglect and even psychological harm are forms of animal cruelty. If you check the webpage of RSPCA Australia (Royal Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals), you will find a list of actions and conditions that can be qualified as cruelty to animals. The list includes such points as torturing or beating an animal; failing to provide it with food and appropriate treatment in case of disease or injury; killing an animal in an inhumane manner; failing to provide appropriate transportation conditions, and so on. According to statistics, animals who suffer from cruelty most often are dogs (64.5%) and cats (18%). 25% are for other animals, such as horses (The Humane Society). Supposedly, it means domestic pets are the most vulnerable category to suffer from cruelty; also, it might mean cruelty towards animals is a result of pet owners demonstrating their anger, frustration, or stress on the closest and most defenseless creatures. Greyhound racing, puppy farms and animal testingare three major examples of animal cruelty. Thousands of animals are being mistreated in Australia Legal commercial greyhound racing is formally regulated in Australia. Greyhound racing, which is an example of animal cruelty, is a competitive sport in which greyhound dogs are raced around a track. Australia is one of one eight countries where greyhound ... • 3. Therapeutic Modification Essay After the ethical examination of both therapeutic and enhancement gene modification, it can be stated that therapeutic gene modification is a good thing and enhancement gene modification can be a bad thing. But the other issue is where do you draw the line between the two gene modifications. On paper it might seem like a clear cut distinction but take the example of children who use human growth hormone. Assume a child has a medical condition and their treatment stunts their growth, so they are prescribed human growth hormone. The human growth hormone is able to help the child grow to his normal hight thus returning him to the baseline. But now that there is a doctor prescribing human growth hormone, and different parent hear about this treatment... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... I believe that there is nothing wrong with the therapeutic gene modification when it involves somatic cells. I think that it is our moral responsibility to do what we can to help save the lives of people who are suffering. The doctors who would be proscribing the treatment have all made a hippocratic oath so it would be their moral duty to follow through on using this particular treatment. Therapeutic gene manipulation with somatic cells would break any moral, ethical, or legal laws. But the other forms of genetic manipulation are a little tricky. Therapeutic gene manipulation of germ cells can be a useful treatment of disease but its effect plays a role in a larger scope then just the patient alone. I think that it poses a greater risk to the whole of humanity of we allow changes to germ cells and future generations. It would open the door to all other types of genetic manipulation. So rules have to be put in place so no abuse of medical treatment occurs. Finally there should not be any type of enhancement gene modification occurring. I think that it will overall produce more harm then good. It is not a medical procedure that is used to help people who are suffering it would simply be a mechanism that would only play a negative role in human development, simultaneously breaking many ethical rules along the way. The poems A Work Of Artifice and Barbie Doll by Marge Piercy, demonstrates the ideology that society has about women in general. This two poems by Marge Piercy gives a perspective on how women have been treated throughout history and what a woman has to do in order to qualify to the expectations of society and be considered a perfect women . (7 8) this indicates that she was a normal girl, she was good, but she had a Big nose and fat legs. (6) and that aspect made her imperfect. All the good things she had weren t important, only the imperfections were pointed out. As well as A work of Artifice, Marge Piercy gives an image of women as someone weak. The author states that The crippled brain, the hair in curlers. In this quote is evident the stereotype of a woman, a woman without a brain who needs to depend on someone else in order to think; she also needs to be pretty, and spend her time doing her hair to look gorgeous. Both of the poems were written in different time of period, Barbie Doll was written in 1971 and shows a clear idea that society doesn t think about how a comment can affect someone and when that person is dead, all their flaws go away. This can be seen when the author said, With the undertaker s cosmetics painted on, a turned up putty nose...doesn t she look pretty? Everyone said. When the character is laying down, death, everyone thinks she looks pretty, they don t find her any imperfection. Lastly, society s perspective hardly changed because A work of Artifice by Marge Piercy was written in 1999 and the theme is the same. The treatment of women throughout history is the ... • 6. The True Meaning Of The Gospel Of God Around the world and throughout all the different versions of Christianity, there are so many things that people call the gospel . Some say it is the only way to get to Heaven, or that it is a doctrine of damnation that God sent us to right our wrongs. Ravi Zacharias stated in a video sermon what he thinks that the gospel has become when he says, It became I think cheapened and somehow diluted if not polluted and so an average person who view what is the gospel they say it is the same old thing, you re a sinner and you re heading to hell... (Zacharias). Most individuals in today s time do not know what Gods true love is or what the real meaning of the gospel is truly because of the situations they have been in during their lives and what society has made it out to be. According to Webster s Dictionary the definition of the word gospel is, The message concerning Christ, the kingdom of God, and salvation, (Webstersdictionary.com). Though this is a technical definition, the Gospel of God is so much more than just teachings. The Gospel can help those who have never met God, since it is the good news that should be preached to everyone, it is how believers go and make more disciples throughout the world, and through it is a way for everyone to connect with God on a personal and spiritual level. The Gospel is the Good News The gospel is considered good news because it shows the truth in how triumphant our God and His Son have been in conquering death. Jesus was sent down ... From nursing models, to concepts, to evidence based practices that have stemmed from theories, nursing care advances have come a long way. Theories have been the fundaments of nursing to help nurses provide efficient care through structure , unity , assessing, planning, and implementing interventions (White Zaccagnini, 2014).This paper will discuss how theories have guided patient centered care in helping decrease infections in cancer who have central lines that developed chemotherapy induced neutropenia. There have been many advances in oncology care; unfortunately infections from healthcare settings and the community are a major cause of hospitalizations and death in patients receiving chemotherapy treatment via central lines. As healthcare providers, preventing infection with patients who develop chemotherapy induced neutropenia can significantly decrease mortality and morbidity for patients with cancer (Bush, Davis, Friese, Gillespie, Nirenberg, Rice, 2009). Oncology nurses play a vital role in educating other healthcare providers, patients and family members, on chemotherapy side effect with patients who are neutropenic, especially handling the central line. • 10. How Does Prufrock Show The Importance Of Time T. S. Eliot s main purpose for writing The Love Song of J. Alfred Prufrock is to show the importance of time. Prufrock, the main character and narrator of the story seems to think he has plenty of time to sit around and wait forever to ask, whom we assume is someone he likes, an overwhelming question (page 2524). Prufrock seems to be a big procrastinator, and uses the timehe should be using to make excuses as to why he shouldn t rush since he has time later. Time for you and time for me, And time yet for a hundred indecisions, And for a hundred visions and revisions, Before the taking of a toast and tea (page 2525). In this quote Prufrock seems to stall his question even more deciding that there is time to be indecisive before taking his toast and tea. Prufrock s stalling and convincing of himself that there is more time, is exactly what makes him not have time and grow old. Before we know it, Prufrock is an old man who now wonders whether or not he should have used his time wisely when he was younger and would it have been worth it, after all (page 2526). In the end, there is nothing he can do to get back the time he wasted so he simply walks the beaches wondering whether the mermaids will come sing to him. ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 12. Psychological And Emotional Hazards Of Nurses PSYCHOLOGICAL AND EMOTIONAL HAZARDS Like the general population, pilots are susceptible to the same psychological problems other people may encounter. Historically, pilots have had a deep distrust of psychologists and psychiatrists and are dismissive of psychological theories. This deeply rooted negative disposition most likely has been formed from bad experiences during training, licensing, selection, or during the routine tasks of managing daily personal problems. Pilots typically have a lower chance of experiencing psychological disorders; however, they are biologically human and prone to the vast spectrum of mental defects. Health care providers need to recognize that pilots are human and at risk of mental instability. Pilots are at risk of psychological disorders and triggers such as adjustment disorder, anxiety disorder, attention deficit disorder/attention deficit hyperactive disorder, mood disorder, organic mental disorders, personality disorder, psychotic disorder, and substance abuse. If a pilot is suspected of having any of these conditions, more than likely, then they should be grounded and referred for treatment. All of these conditions will not be discussed below. Adjustment disorders are maladaptive reactions to a known psychosocial stressor that occur within three months after the onset of the stressor. Adjustment disorders are one of the most common mental disorders in pilots. Symptoms include anxiety, fatigue, and depression; lack of focus, ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

During the Yemen civil war that took place between 1962 and 1970, the Arab League was made up of six member states that included Yemen, Syria, Saudi Arabia, Lebanon, and Jordan. However, the Arab League was later expanded to include twenty two member states. The role played by the Arab Leagueduring the Civil war in Yemen, is evident from the roles in which the individual members of this union played in order to further its interests. Egypt was known as the United Arab Republic during this conflict and it had good relations with Yemen. The new republican government was recognized by the Soviet Union and Egypt, but other western powers that had interests in Yemen such as the US and the UK, failed to disclose whether they supported the new Syrian government (Terrill and Army War College (U.S.) Strategic Studies Institute 54). The Arab league played a contradictory role during the civil war in Syria, with some members of the union supporting the republican forces while others went behind the royal forces led by Imam Mohammed Al Bdr. Egypt supported the republican forces while Imam Badr received support from Jordan and Saudi Arabia. The republican forces embraced social progress and republicanism, and were mainly present in cities, while Mohammed Al Bdr forces fought from rural areas. The conflict in Yemen was partially caused by the action of Egypt to send soldiers to support the overthrowing of the royal government. Saudi Arabia s involvement in the conflict was based on the fear that the war could overspill into its borders, and therefore, it protected its interests by lending material support to Imam Mohammed Al Bdr (Little 68). The republican forces viewed the provision of material support to royal forces by Saudi Arabia as interference in the internal affairs of Yemen. While most units fly on a regular basis, easily meeting their hourly requirements, and becoming very proficient at these tasks. There are several National Guard Units that continuously fail to meet these requirements. I think that if every National Guard Unit was able to conduct flight operations where they held weekend drills. You would see a drastic increase in annual hours flown, as well as overall proficiency and retention of soldiers in these units. Throughout this paper I will discuss HOR (home of record) unit s flight hour s vs non HOR unit s flight hours. Along with the other difficulties these units face. I will also discuss the effects that low flight hours have on soldier s... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... It is my opinion that the above stated problems with the inability to fly, mission readiness, and proficiency, in turn lead to a negative command relationship. A negative command relationship could potentially lead to a lack of trust between leadership. As well as a tension, meaning command may not believe that you are utilizing all of your Soldiers, therefore they need 4 Soldiers for a detail. However, based on the UAS MTOE, providing Soldiers for details is practically impossible and could negatively affect flight operations. Having a positive command relationship will exponentially increase a Units overall ability to operate successfully. Based on the above mentioned difficulties associated with conducting flight operations while not having a flight line at your duty station. I think it is fair to associate the inability to perform flight ops at a Drill duty station with these National Guard Units failing to meet their requirements. Thus in turn creating less proficient soldiers, which can ultimately lead to lack of desire to stay in the National Guard. Soldiers enlist to perform a job, and without the ability to perform the desired job comes a lack of interest in being a National ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The Rock Towers On Her Property Like the defendant in Moore, Herrera is entitled to summary judgment as a matter of law in this action, because she could not have known or realized that the rock towers on her property would pose an unreasonable risk of death or serious bodily injury to Maria. Herrera s private property is located in a remote location in Arizona where she allows adults to view her land art by appointment only. It is reasonably understandable that Herrera does not like uninvited or unwanted individuals on her property at anytime. Moreover, since the land art was for adults only to view, she never allowed children on her property to view her land art. As a result, no injuries were ever reported from the adults who visited and viewed her land art.... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Therefore, Herrera is entitled to summary judgment because she could not have known or realized that the rock towers on her property would pose an unreasonable risk of death or serious bodily injury to Maria. Essentially, cystic fibrosis causes a lot of sticky mucus buildup in many organs, including the pancreas, lungs, and other organs. One interesting fact about Cystic Fibrosis has to do with its epidemiology, interestingly enough, the distribution and prevalence of cystic fibrosis does depend on race; white people have a higher chance of being born with Cystic fibrosis, this is believed to be because the emergence of cystic fibrosis began in the stone age in Europe (Daniel, Emanuela, Genel Lucia, 2015). Since cystic fibrosis is a recessive autosomal disease, a person affected inherits two mutated genes from each parent as opposed to a single gene. Cystic Fibrosis is caused specifically in the CFTR (cystic fibrosis transmembrane conductance regulator) gene , within this gene the most common mutation is the deletion of phenylalanine at codon 508, this is the most common mutation within the 1600 known possible mutations for cystic fibrosis (Alton, Bush, Davies, 2007). The ideal path to diagnose cystic fibrosis is through measuring sweat electrolyte levels, doctors measure the sweat levels and then check to see if the levels are abnormally high, as with Cystic fibrosis patients there is a high concentration of chloride and sodium (Alton, Bush, Davies, 2007). Pyramids were built using a well organized building system which nobody still seems to know, yet everyone recognizes and admits that it is so well built that it lasted for over 2000 years. Humans for ages have been building shelters and buildings using different types of building systems. For centuries, the traditional building system has been used for almost all types of buildings. The mechanized building system was later introduced and adopted in many developing countries. Disremembered and unaccounted for, she cannot be lost because no one is looking for her, and even if they were, how can they call her if they don t know her name? Although she has claim, she is not claimed. In the place where long grass opens, the girl who waited to be loved and cry shame erupts into her separate parts, to make it easy for the chewing laughter to swallow her all away. In this, the dusk of the 20th century, to whom has the task of Benjamin s storyteller fallen? One such contemporary storyteller is African American writer Toni Morrison, who in her novel Beloved brings our present face to face with the image of the smashed bodies of Black slaves, forcing us to re member and account for their experiences. I Benjamin has identified the catastrophe of history with the loss of communicable experience and hence meaning in human life. The processes initiated in the Enlightenment, perpetuated in the rise of positivistic philosophy, and culminating in the horrors of World War I have stripped humanity of its experiential reality. It is as if something that seemed inalienable to us, the securest among our possessions, were taken from us: the ability to exchange experiences. . . For never has experience been contradicted more thoroughly than strategic experience by tactical warfare, economic experience by inflation, bodily experience by mechanical warfare, moral experience by those in power (Illuminations, 83 84). What is lost is the art of the storyteller who, in the telling of the stories of a culture, passed on the tradition from one generation to the next and with it the wisdom of experience. This wisdom is nothing less than the knowledge and skill necessary to integrate the experiences contained in tradition into the real lives of the listeners, to make them conscious of history. • 37. The Patient Monitoring System The Patient Monitoring System The patient monitoring system defined in the problem was developed 5 years ago. That means it was developed somewhere in the year 2009. C32 was the standard at that time. Consolidated Clinical Document Architecture (CCDA) was not developed until 2011. This means that the system was never designed by keeping meaningful use of EHRs in mind. Hence, it should be difficult for the system to pass all the criteria of meaningful use. Since the criteria described in Stage 1 of meaningful use are present in Stage 2 as well, only Stage 2 will be discussed in the following section. Problematic Meaningful Use Certification Criteria Following is a list of Meaningful Use certification criteria that will likely be problematic for the patient monitoring system of the ICU in Stage 2 attestations: Transitions of Care The EHR technology used in patient monitoring system must be able to receive, display, transmit and incorporate transition of care document. For this, the system must use the specification for such documents. Since this system is fairly old, it will not support the structured documents that are supported by new systems. Electronic Prescribing Electronic prescription allows the user to create a prescription electronically. The user can attach all kinds of information to this electronic prescription. The answers sought are therefore: What characterizes the travel motivations of Chinese outbound tourists? How are the motivations expressed in activities and actions? What are the implications for the future marketing of Odense City? To be able to attract Chinese tourists it is also necessary to look at what motivates Chinese tourists to travel so that these motivations and through them the activities can be marketed by Odense City. 2 The research undertaken The paper was supposed to be supported by an online survey among young Chinese on their willingness to use the internet as a travel information source and vacation booking tool as well as a short section on their knowledge of Denmark and their previous travel experience and their hope for their future travels. However, the online survey was distributed via Facebook and Twitter, but the Chinese government blocked the access to the internet at the time of data collection and only 9 respondents answered before access was cut off. This means that the survey results are not reliable and cannot be used to illustrate and enlighten us on Chinese tourists internet usage and preferences. The first table that I pieced together was the band of outsiders. All of the people who sit at this table don t quite fit in; each one of them possesses a quality that makes them definitively stand out. The table I m talking about is table number one. The first person that I chose to be part of this table was The Invisible Man from the eponymously titled book by Ralph Ellison. From the famous first line of the novel, I am an invisible man, it s clear to the reader that T.I.M. doesn t fit in (3). It starts with radical kings in Europe who cause so much disruption that a civil war occurs. The colonies worked together to fend for themselves and survived quite well without the crown and Parliament watching over them. England was not aware of it but every little thing they did to try reasserting command over the colonies only pushed them farther away. If England had always kept a firm hand on the colonies, we would be speaking proper English and marveling at our queen in the twenty first century. One of the mistakes England made was allowing King James II to try enforcing control upon the colonies... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... George Greenville could be blamed for all of it since he was chief minister and developed some of these ideas. The colonists were not happy with Parliament s decisions to them without their consent, especially since Britain s were the only ones able to be taxed since they had elected representatives in Parliament. The Quartering Act seemed to be one of the last straws. The colonists believed their requirement to house and feed British troops was England s way of trying to dominate them. Thanks to Greenville, the Sons of Liberty was created in protest of the laws created and wide spread protests began. The Stamp Act would soon be repealed and Greenville replaced, but Parliament would pass the Declaratory Act to assert their power to create laws over the colonies. It almost looked as if they were asking for a rebellion. The Sons of Liberty grew stronger, protests larger, and the unfortunate Boston massacre happened. The death of a few individuals by the hand of British soldiers influenced Parliament to repeal many but not all acts. The tip of the ice berg was the Boston Tea Party. Due to disguises, the British did not know who committed the act and decided to punish all of Boston. The end of result of all this was the first Continental Congress that wrote a declaration, most likely practice for the big declaration that would be written in a few years, that ... As I walked through the huge glass doors I knew I was in for a pleasant surprise. I carefully took the time to examine each artwork and read the descriptions of each one. This piece of artwork was made out of oil stick, chalk, and latex on masonite and wood. To me, it kind of looked like chalk on a chalkboard with nothing else. The way that the word America is placed out on the canvas gives just enough room below each letter to write words that begin with each of the letters that spell out the word America. I was unsure as to why this piece was created the way it was but with further research on the piece I realized that Willie Cole created this art piece while sitting in front of the television and writing down words said by the news reporters that contain the first letters of A, M, E, R, I, C, A he also obtained the words by searching through the New York Times. Next, 0.0510 g of sodium borohydride was added to the solution. At this time, bubbles formed and an exothermic reaction took place. After the solution was stirred for 20 minutes, 2 mL of sulfuric acid was added to the flask. The solution became white and cloudy, and more bubbles formed. This was calculated by taking the mass of 4 tertВ¬ butylcyclohaxanol, dividing it by the theoretical yield determined by mass of the limiting reagent, 4 tertВ¬ butylcyclohaxanone, and multiplying by 100. This percent yield is respectable, but a higher one could have been obtained. A source of error resulting in a lower percent yield was the filtering to remove the magnesium sulfate out of the dried organic solution. When filtering, some of the liquid was absorbed into the filter paper, prohibiting some of the product from being recovered. To prevent this loss, one should use a pipet to recover the product from the magnesium sulfate. The product that was recovered during this experiment, was spectroscopically analyzed, and a ratio of cis trans product was found. IR and 1H NMR analysis was also performed for the starting ketone, 4 tertВ¬ butylcyclohaxanone. The IR spectra, RM 07 Oi, contained peaks at 2947 cm 1, 2868 cm 1, 1720 cm 1, and 1365 cm 1. These peaks represent a carbon hydrogen stretch, a sp3 hybridized carbon, a ketone and a ring carbon carbon stretch, which are all present in 4 tertВ¬ butylcyclohaxanone. This confirms that the initial ketone used was 4 tertВ¬ butylcyclohaxanone. The 1H NMR also proves this. Peaks found at 2.34 ppm, 2.07 ppm, 1.45 ppm and 0.87 ppm show that only four chemical shifts occur in this compound. • 46. Forrest Thomson Poetic Artifice Analysis Two Co Option Co option is I argue most clearly defined by Veronica Forrest Thomson s Poetic Artifice. A text, that pushed back against critics of the previous generation and endeavoured early on to integrate structuralist thought with post structuralist. This integration between structuralism and post structuralism can be seen as an attempt to get at the importance of poetry. In an attempt to stress and illuminate poetry s unique ability to be transformative of both language and the world. Forrest Thomson in Poetic Artifice demands an intense focus on all the rhythmic, phonetic, verbal and logical devices which makes poetry different from prose to best consider this transformative nature. It is in this distinguishing of poetry from prose, and the highly formalist manner and structuralist distrust of language s transparency in which she follows that one can also see a similar differencing between the broader spectrum of literature with the sciences. There is no need in Forrest Thomson s work for differing areas to be inclusive of one another, to the point of loss of individuality, because of a homogenizing of methodology and epistemic reasoning. Throughout both Poetic Artifice and her thesis Poetry as Knowledge: The Use of Science by Twentieth Century Poets, Forest Thomson can be seen to put forward a new structure, in which separation is crucial for any kind of interrelation between the two fields of knowledge. It takes place in an impoverished town in the UK during the 80 s but it was performed in 2017 at the Berkeley playhouse. The play is impactful because it satires gender stereotypes and advocates for the payoff of hard work. My favorite character was the ballet teacher. The actress made great use of the stage and her props. I loved the way she swayed in her fur lined silk robe and how she used her faux cigarette. • 49. Persuasive Speech On Life In Our Life Inhale. Exhale. Breathe. It appears that you have taken one step closer to death. Death is all around us; the air we breathe every day, hour, minute, second is crucial to our survival. However, air can be seen as a double edge sword. Air, is what is keeping us alive, for if we stopped breathing, we would die of suffocation. On the other hand, the longer we breathe, the closerwe are towards death. In this sense, a burning what if question has been on my mind: what if the air we are breathing is a poison that is slowly killing us? Think about that. If this were to be true? What have you done...or plan to do that makes breathing this poisonous air worthy? Many people today waste much of their life doing useless things. They do not realize that each breath they spend on the couch or dreaming of things they could do, they are wasting their opportunity to really do something. Let me break this down for you. Life expectancy for a typically American is about 79 years or 948 months. Of those 79 years, 1/3 of the time is spent sleeping, leaving us with about 632 months. After taking into consideration factors such as eating, using the restroom, and browsing the internet, we are left with roughly 19 years to live. 19 years may seem like a lot, but that is only about 24% of your life that is actually in your hands. After finding out these surprising stats, I began to rethink my life. I looked a little closer around the community I grew up in and realized that there was a huge need within my community. I first began to get involved within my community eighth grade year through the Community Thanksgiving Meal. At first, I did not realize that all the people coming in for a meal or the places that needed a delivery was all just right within my community. As the years went by, I slowly became more and more involved. I started from only coming in on Thanksgiving Day to help to being there every step of the way. I remember volunteering to coordinate a clothing drive last year to give clothes to those in need during the Thanksgiving Meal.
