2. Getting along
in an extroverted world
• Listen
– Active listening means feeding back.
• Too many people misunderstand what another person
is saying.
– Watch body language.
• Interrupt
– Don’t wait for a pause.
• But be appropriate!
– Jump back in
• “Why don’t you let me finish this thought?”
3. Learn to Share Yourself
• Share what you are thinking.
– Interrupt if necessary.
• Give external signals.
– Nod, frown, murmur, “uh huh”, etc.
– Extroverts needs signals you’ve heard (and not
much more!).
• Position yourself as an expert.
– Blog regularly about what you’ve learned and
what you know.
4. More Tips
• Show your face. Get out and about.
– Make an appearance, talk to a few key people,
and then go home.
• Fill existing needs.
– Do things for yourself that apply to others.
– Research others’ needs and create projects to
meet those needs.
• Get other people to spread your ideas.
