Western Sahara's typical foods always include meat or chicken and broth. The two most typical foods are tashin and kus kus. Tashin varies depending on ingredients added like chicken, meat, potatoes, carrots, and onions, which are cooked in a clay pot. Kus kus is made from wheat semolina and usually contains vegetables. It is steamed by placing the semolina in a small pot with holes over a larger pot of water. Both dishes are often eaten with the hands, though spoons are used for soups, rice, and pasta.
