Time signatures indicate the number of beats in a measure and which note value receives one beat. Common time signatures include 2/4 for march time, 3/4 for waltz time, and 4/4 for walking time. Clefs such as the G clef and F clef are placed at the beginning of the staff to indicate the pitch of the notes. The staff is divided into measures by bar lines, with a double bar line indicating the end of a song.

is a musical symbol written at the
beginning of the staff.
G- Clef also called treble clef. In
writing G clef you should start on
the second line of the staff. It
indicates that the notes are played
on a high register.

6. F Clef also called bass clef.
The dots are placed on the third
and fourth spaces of the staff. It
indicates that the notes are played
on a lower register.

7. Bar lines- divides the staff into
measures.
Measure- is referring to each division
made by the bar line.
Double bar line- indicates end of the
song. It is placed at the end of the
staff.
