Paloma Prado was born on August 18th, 1998 in Tecoman, Colima. When she was 2 years old, her father and brother moved to the United States while she stayed in Mexico with her mother. She had many allergies as a child and underwent treatment for over 7 years. Now she enjoys activities like going to her family's ranch to feed the horses and spending time with her nephews. Paloma also used to practice Thai dance and cheerleading. She has stayed close with her brother Felipe, speaking with him every weekend, and enjoys helping others through volunteering with poor children and visiting sick people.

His father Benjamin was born in Durango, Mexico and immigrated to the United States in 1980 after first moving to Tijuana in 1970. Both of Ramon's parents came from poor backgrounds with low education and employment opportunities in their home countries. They settled in Pomona, California in hopes of finding more work and a better life for their family.

My mom immigrated to the US from the Philippines in 1989 after graduating college to join other family members. She had to get used to the different weather and being long distance from her boyfriend, now husband. However, adapting wasn't too difficult because she knew English and had family support. She worked as a nurse, a job in high demand. My dad came later in 1997 after a long petition process. He had to restart his career and moved locations several times to complete his medical residency, finally finishing in 2004. My parents have shown that immigrating with family support makes the adjustment to a new country easier.

This focus group will provide feedback on a documentary about ballroom and Latin dancing. The target audience for the documentary is wide ranging, from 12 year old children to adults aged 25-45, as well as older audiences with an interest in the subject. The focus group will include people who attend the filmmaker's dance school, parents of students, and people with no prior knowledge of ballroom dancing. The focus group members described include a 47 year old single mother and her ballroom dancing daughter, a 17 year old student with an interest in media production, a retired couple in their 60s who used to dance competitively, and a 14 year old national champion ballroom dancer.

A Strategic Approach: GenAI in Education
Artificial Intelligence (AI) technologies such as Generative AI, Image Generators and Large Language Models have had a dramatic impact on teaching, learning and assessment over the past 18 months. The most immediate threat AI posed was to Academic Integrity with Higher Education Institutes (HEIs) focusing their efforts on combating the use of GenAI in assessment. Guidelines were developed for staff and students, policies put in place too. Innovative educators have forged paths in the use of Generative AI for teaching, learning and assessments leading to pockets of transformation springing up across HEIs, often with little or no top-down guidance, support or direction.
This Gasta posits a strategic approach to integrating AI into HEIs to prepare staff, students and the curriculum for an evolving world and workplace. We will highlight the advantages of working with these technologies beyond the realm of teaching, learning and assessment by considering prompt engineering skills, industry impact, curriculum changes, and the need for staff upskilling. In contrast, not engaging strategically with Generative AI poses risks, including falling behind peers, missed opportunities and failing to ensure our graduates remain employable. The rapid evolution of AI technologies necessitates a proactive and strategic approach if we are to remain relevant.
