This paper discusses three key concepts from a course on learning: procrastination, focused vs diffuse thinking modes, and mindset. It ties these concepts to Csikszentmihalyi's theory of "flow" and theories of time management to develop a strategic learning plan. The paper argues that achieving a state of flow is necessary for realizing learning potential. It then discusses strategies to address procrastination, make effective use of thinking modes, and implement spaced learning sessions as part of time management. The discussion notes potential downsides of prolonged flow states but argues that successful flow management is essential for satisfaction in learning and life.
This chapter discusses the importance of leaders taking a long-term view of time rather than focusing solely on the present or short-term future. It introduces the concept of "temporal intelligence" and profiles leaders who treat time as a strategic tool rather than something to be managed. The chapter also discusses the "Long Now" movement which aims to promote long-term thinking by creating a clock designed to keep accurate time for 10,000 years.

This document summarizes two experiments that examined the relationship between flow, time perception, and visual stimulation during a Multiple Object Tracking task. In Experiment 1, participants performed the task at different challenge levels, and those who experienced higher flow also perceived greater time distortion, feeling time passed more quickly. Experiment 2 allowed participants to adjust task challenge themselves. Again, higher flow was linked to feeling time passed more quickly. Comparing the experiments, those in Experiment 2 felt time passed more quickly and enjoyed the task more, which the authors attribute to increased information processing in Experiment 2.

This document discusses using Time Use Surveys to better measure well-being by incorporating subjective experiences of time. It argues that solely economic indicators like GDP fail to fully capture well-being. Time Use Surveys currently focus only on objective time expenditures but could also examine how people experience and value their use of time. The document proposes adding questions to Time Use Surveys that explore subjective perceptions of time availability and pressures, time's impact on emotional states, and time spent on most satisfying activities to gain a richer understanding of well-being beyond economic metrics alone.
