The document discusses new developments in internet infrastructure including IPV6 addresses, new generic top-level domains (gTLDs), and internationalized domain names (IDNs). It notes that IPV6 provides virtually unlimited IP addresses to connect everything. It describes the new gTLD program which received over 1,900 applications and has delegated over 600 new gTLDs. It also discusses how IDNs allow domains in local scripts and languages, expanding access and opportunities for local content and innovation.

Internationalized Domain Names(IDNs)
June 2015
Moh. Tijani BEN JEMAA
An internationalized domain name (IDN) is an Internet Domain Name that
contains at least one label that is displayed in a language-specific script other
than the Roman one (ASCII), such as Arabic, Chinese, Cyrillic, etc.
October 2009: ICANN adopted the Internationalized Top Level Domains
IDN ccTLD fast track
The IDNs are encoded in multi-byte Unicode. They are stored in the Domain
Name System (DNS) as ASCII strings using Punycode transcription. Thus, the IDN
doesn’t require any modification of the Internet Infrastructure.
