There are 5 main subspecies of tigers: Bengal, Indochinese, Sumatran, Siberian, and South China. Bengal tigers live in India and surrounding areas and can weigh up to 227 kg for males and 114 kg for females. Indochinese tigers live in Southeast Asia, weigh 150-190 kg for males and 110-140 kg for females, and prefer forest habitats. Sumatran tigers are the smallest subspecies and are found only on Sumatra, with males weighing 100-130 kg and females 70-90 kg. Siberian tigers are the largest subspecies with males weighing 227 kg. The South China tiger is considered critically endangered with fewer than 30 existing in the wild.
