Every year, Tiger Recruitment releases a Salary and Benefits Review which collates the data from a survey of 2,700 staff. This year, we knew things would be different.
COVID-19 has significantly impacted many of the results in the review. For example, the top priorities for jobseekers this year were salary and job security, which is a shift away from last year’s top priority, work environment.

Survey 2021
2. In 2020, Tiger Recruitment surveyed 2,700 workers across the
UK, Europe, the UAE and the US. The majority (2,126)
recorded being based in the UK and we have based the
following results on these UK responses alone. The survey was
conducted online.
The survey revealed a few major trends, largely due to the
COVID-19 pandemic.
3. Some of the key trends include:
• Three quarters (73%) say that finding a new job is their
biggest worry
• Just under half (45%) say their employer isn’t doing enough
or could do more to support them
• Over three quarters (78%) are quite or very concerned about the
impact of COVID-19 on their career progression
• Half (51%) feel their employer could better communicate their
coronavirus strategy
4. Short-termism continues to be a trend
• Four in ten candidates want to leave their job within the
next 12 months
• A fifth (21%) are either dissatisfied or very dissatisfied in their
job
• Of those who want to leave their roles, only 30% feel their
employer has supported them well throughout the pandemic
5. • Salary is the number one thing people will prioritise in their next
role, followed by job security and work/life balance
• Last year’s top priority was a good work environment. This is now
fourth on the list of priorities
• For those on furlough at the time of the survey, their top priority
was job security
Workers’ priorities have changed significantly
6. • Those surveyed say their increased flexibility was the number one
upside of the pandemic – losing this was one of their top three
concerns about returning to the office
• Almost half (43%) are worried about spending more money when/if
they return to the office
WFH is a benefit that respondents want to
hold on to
