Thyroidectomy Essay
Discussion:
Historically, the risks associated with major surgery to treat thyroid disease and the problems of adequate hormonal replacement deterred surgeons from
performing total thyroidectomies. Although the procedure remains controversial it is increasingly being performed, and current indications include
cancer, toxic and nontoxic multinodular goitre and Graves disease. (1, 3, 12)
When the thyroid is resectable at presentation, total thyroidectomy is the current treatment of choice for malignant disorders of the thyroid and
valuable surgical option for the management of several benign thyroid diseases, particularly among patients with an increased risk of recurrence. (1,
13–16) Total thyroidectomy is recommended for patients with Graves disease because it eliminates the source of the Graves disease autoantibodies; it
eliminates the risk of disease recurrence; hypothyroidism is predictable and controllable by immediate thyroxine replacement; it alleviates any
associated endocrine ophthalmopathy and the risk of malignancy among patients with Graves disease. (9, 17, 18) Moreover, the risk of postoperative
complications to the recurrent laryngeal nerve and parathyroid glands are equivalent for total and subtotal thyroidectomy. (1, 12)
Total thyroidectomy is also the appropriate surgical treatment for...show more content...
As a result, it is now widely accepted for the management of both malignant and benign thyroid disease. Total thyroidectomy is a valuable option, when
surgery is indicated, for treating benign thyroid conditions such as multinodular goitre and Graves disease. It achieves immediate and permanent cure
with no risk of disease recurrence or repeat surgeries. Total thyroidectomy offers a definite management of thyroid cancer. Long
–term euthyroidism
after total thyroidectomy is achieved easily with L–thyroxine

Endodontics Essay
When it comes to flashing your smile, you would often brood over the kind of teeth that you have encircled within your mouth. Would it not be a
leading concern of anybody? The level of self–confidence plus the manner of dealing with your relations publicly and professionally are utterly
affected by the way your teeth are arranged. How much more when you have decomposed or plague–ridden teeth? The more that you need to submit
yourself to root canal treatment in Gurgaon!
What is Endodontics?
To simply put, endodontics is the segment of dentistry which tackles the apprehensions about the ailments that highlight the pulp of the tooth. The pulp
is sited right in the core of the tooth as well as in the canals within the root of every tooth. The pulp encloses the blood vessels, the nerves, and the
connective tissues and it is similarly the one...show more content...
pulp infection and pulp damage. Any cavity that rests untreated is the root cause of pulp infection. The decay is the foundation which wears away the
dentin and enamel of the tooth until such time that it leads you to the root canal. With this, the pulp gets predisposed to bacterial septicity. Usually,
antibiotics would be taken to pacify the pain away but the truth is, the septicity that lies inside the teeth could never be treated. As the infection gets
harsh, it brings forth swelling which then lessens the supply of blood into the tooth and that leads to the boundless agony since it rids the healing of the
pulp. Another reason that must provoke you to undergo root canal treatment is owing to the impairment in the pulp that could not be fixed by any
means. Fracture or trauma to the tooth could result in the damage of the pulp. The same thing happens when excessive restoration or fillings have been
applied in the same tooth time and again. Another is the application of a crown and other dental techniques would also cause the injury of the

My phone's alarm went off early in the morning; I let it play a little more as the alarm was my favorite song. Instead of being cranky by the alarm,
I bumped to it. The birds chirped from all angles, the neighbor's dogs barked at each other, while he was too busy mowing to lawn. But, I was in a
terrific mood anyway. The blinds, slightly open, let bright sun rays hit my floor, while the A/C blasted. I slowly got up, and let out a loud yawn.
Bones cracked at every single body joint. The pleasing aroma of coffee and the savoring smell of eggs filled up my nostrils. I put both feet down, and
head to the pull–up bar where I hang on it for a few seconds, stretching out my spine. I turn my head toward the calendar to make sure today was the
day. Indeed it was, reading the month of July with 2008 written in big, bold letters. Butterflies filled up my stomach with goosebumps everywhere.
"Kam, are you done packing?" yelled my mother from the hallway closet. "Yeah, just got to get my toothbrush and razor." responded back my dad.
My dad always packed his things last. Suddenly, my heart stopped. I turn my head slowly over my shoulder, only to see myluggage bag laying on the
floor, open, with nothing but dust in it. The brimming list of things I was supposed to pack layed on my desk. "Oh my, I totally forgot to...show more

worried we would miss the flight. My dad quickly carries down everyone's luggage, putting it by the door. With only a matter of minutes to spare,
everyone grabs their luggage and runs out the door. My parents help my sister and I put our luggage into the trunk and everyone grabs their seat in the
car. As the car engines fires up, everyone makes a last minute check, making sure they have everything, especially their

Teacher's Salaries Essay
Lurking over our great country is a troubling issue that is plaguing the professional educational workforce. When compared worldwide, American
teachers work the most hours, yet are paid in the lowest brackets when related to the top 32 nations (Teachers Pay). In addition, when you compare a
teacher's salary to other four year degree salaries, teachers are among the 5 lowest paid degrees (O'Shaughnessy). Not only are the salaries among
the lowest in the American workforce, a typical teachers at home workload exceeds all other professional jobs by 20% (Current). Furthermore,
teachers were only given a 2.3% salary raise in 2009. Yet the rate of inflation rose to 3.1% causing a loss in purchasing power and creating a hardship

According to an hourly wage, that would place a teacher's salary above accountants, computer programmers, and mechanical engineers at the entry
level. In addition to the hourly rate, teachers often are given economic incentives that aren't available to other jobs (Teachers). These same researchers
also claim that the benefits given to teachers far outweigh those of rival professions. Therefore, stating that based off limited research, teachers are paid
an adamant amount of money, and need not complain (Anderson).
In contrast there are many reasons why teachers truly are underpaid. First, what these researchers fail to make public, is the fact that the hourly wage
that they base a teachers pay is centered only on the hours that a teacher is present at school. They do not take into consideration the hours that
teachers put in at home. On average a teacher will work 20% more Sundays than any other profession, these hours will not be paid or documented into
a teachers pay schedule. The reasoning behind the large at home workload comes from the excessive amount of homework and assignments that they
must grade or create for previous and following work days. Secondly, they are often forced to work at multiple locations, with early starting hours
ranging from 6 to 7 am. Furthermore, some of these locations can be extremely far, costing the teacher an

Queen Elizabeth 1 Essay

Honors History– 7

Queen Elizabeth I: One of the Greatest Monarchs in English History There have been many influential monarchs in English history, but one that stands
out is Queen Elizabeth I. Throughout her legendary reign, Queen Elizabeth managed to have a positive effect on England's political and cultural state
during this time. Her reign featured many political accomplishments, but the one that stands out the most is the defeat of the Spanish Armada.
Considered as one of her finest hours, the defeat of the Spanish Armada has gone down in history as one of the greatest English victories at sea.
Queen Elizabeth's decisions played a positive role in the economic development in England. Not only did she obtain a positive political impact, but also
an impressive cultural impact in English history. Her decisions...show more content...
Queen Elizabeth recognized the importance of the arts to the life and legacy of her nation. Very fond of plays, Queen Elizabeth permitted professional
theaters to be built in England for the first time. These new and improved theaters attracted 15,000 theatergoers per week in London. (Arts). In addition
to Shakespeare's masterpieces of the stage like Romeo and Juliet and Macbeth, Sir Philip Sidney's Defence of Poesie was written during this golden age
in the literary arts (Arts). Queen Elizabeth managed to capture the imagination of influential poets such as Edmund Spenser and Sir Walter Ralegh
(Moose). The Shakespearean sonnet, Spenserian stanza, and dramatic blank verse also came into practice during the period. Queen Elizabeth's
appreciation for theatre led to the introduction of many new theatres and famous playwrights that promoted English culture (Arts). In conclusion,
Queen Elizabeth's role in the English Renaissance confirms that her reign resulted in a positive impact on English

Essay about Library of Alexandria
HOW WAS THE GREAT LIBRAY OF ALEXANDRIA ORGANIZED AND OPERATED? WHO OR WHAT CAUSED ITS DESTRUCTION?
For the extra credit assignment I have decided to compose as essay describing the great library of Alexandria. The library itself is wrapped up in a
great mystery that has had many historians and archeologists heavily interested in its existence for many years. It has been recorded that the library of
Alexandria held many thousands, if not millions, of books, volumes and other documents. The library is also believed to be one of the biggest libraries
in human history. Its significance is of invaluable knowledge. The mammoth size of such a huge monument for the period of time that is existed is
phenomenal. Even...show more content...
The area that also took damage was, where the great library stood. Caesar wrote of starting the fire in the harbor but neglected to mention the burning
of the Library. Such an omission "proves little since he was not in the habit of including unflattering facts while writing his own history (Trumble and
Marshall 2003, 56)". But Caesar was not without public cynics. If he was solely to blame for the disappearance of the Library it is very likely
significant documentation on the affair would exist today.
The second story that has been hypothesized of the Library's destruction is more popular, thanks primarily to Edward Gibbon's "The Decline
and Fall of the Roman Empire." But the story is also a little more complex. "Theophilus was Patriarch of Alexandria from 385 to 412 AD. During
his reign the Temple of Serapis was converted into a Christian Church (probably around 391 AD) and it is likely that many documents were
destroyed then (Bless 2004)." The Temple of Serapis was estimated to hold about ten percent of the overall Library of Alexandria's holdings. After his
death, his nephew Cyril became Patriarch. Shortly after that, riots broke out when Hierax, a Christian monk, was publicly killed by order of Orestes
the city Prefect. Orestes was said to be under the influence of Hypatia, a female philosopher and daughter of the "last member of the Library of
Alexandria". Although it should be noted on the same count, that Hypatia herself was the

Abandonment Issue Essay
You ask me what are abandonment issues? Look at me. Here I stand smiling at you full of fear and anxiety. I'll tell you what it is. Listen to my words.
Listen without judgement. Your judgment only makes my anxiety worse. Put yourself in my lonely shoes.
Abandonment issues are waking up with tear–stained pillow plastered to your face. A white path of sorrow left on your face from the night before.
Fear of abandonment is a feeling that never goes away. It is the feeling of pins and needles on your skin when you're nervous. If you've ever felt this
you don't know why you felt this or how it even began. It is the feeling of running across hot coal just to make it to the finish line but still not winning.
It is the feeling of having to stand...show more content...
But you say to me, family always sticks around. Yes, there is family. They are distant. There's no reason for them to come around. There's no one
who could possibly understand because they're grown and I have to stay in a "child's place" or they're to young and everything is a game to them.
They can't be there with me at night, nor can they see how lonely I am.
But you say to me, my thoughts are irrational. Yes, they may be thought of as irrational to someone who isn't swallowed by the fear of emptiness. You
can't possibly fathom the thoughts of someone scared of when the next person will leave with their heart and secrets. They just leave no good–bye or
explanation.
Abandonment issues eat you from the inside out. They make you second guess yourself. You may even have the occasional thought that you're
overthinking all of this, but then there's always that night where you're at your loneliest and there's no one to comfort or hear you out.
What would you do in that situation? Open up to a friend? Yeah, that'd work for the first couple of times, but soon they'll be fed up with your tears.
They'll leave just like the others have and when they leave they'll try to make it seem like it's a mutual split up.
Abandonment issues are learning some people weren't meant to be in your life. It's owning your fear and using it to your advantage. It's kicking the
leeches of life off of you to become better for you and not others. It's trying to make that fake smile a real one so

The Great Gatsby
The Great Gatsby – Chapter 1
Read the beginning of the novel chapter 1 up to page 12 "Tom Buchanan in his riding clothes was standing with his legs apart on the front porch." How
effective do you find this as an introduction to Great
Gatsby. In your response you should pay close attention to voice, language and style.
The Great Gatsby was written by F Scott Fitzgerald in 1925, and is set during 1922, a period tinged with moral failure of a society obsessed with class
and privilege.
Fitzgerald presents us with the conflict between the illusion and the reality of the American dream.
The novel begins in the present tense, and is told through the eyes of
Nick Carraway, the narrator and moral centre of the novel. His tale is...show more content...
The reader receives the impression that Nick's self analysis of his own character tries to influence their opinion of him. Therefore the reader becomes
inclined to question his judgements.
Nick Carraway's narration takes the reader into his confidence; he describes significant experiences in an almost voyeuristic way. Nicks narrative style
uses elaborate and very mature vocabulary that gives extra depth and description to his account; drawing the reader further into the story. Additionally
Nick's tone creates a sense of authority and immediacy which encourages the reader to read on.
However Nick's style is challenging; his sentences can be complex, and his vocabulary can be difficult to understand. This could be due to him being
an aspiring writer and wishes to impress the reader with his written style.
Nick is a participant in the novel with his own specific characteristics therefore his narration is not a neutral affair. In reading the Great Gatsby we
need to be aware of what he is disclosing about others. The technique of extreme selectivity demands from the reader close attention, since the
narrative is one view point. This perspective can greatly affect our reading of the text. The narrator can position us to like or dislike certain characters.
For example Tom is "a brute of a man" and Gatsby an inspirational

  • 4. Teacher's Salaries Essay Lurking over our great country is a troubling issue that is plaguing the professional educational workforce. When compared worldwide, American teachers work the most hours, yet are paid in the lowest brackets when related to the top 32 nations (Teachers Pay). In addition, when you compare a teacher's salary to other four year degree salaries, teachers are among the 5 lowest paid degrees (O'Shaughnessy). Not only are the salaries among the lowest in the American workforce, a typical teachers at home workload exceeds all other professional jobs by 20% (Current). Furthermore, teachers were only given a 2.3% salary raise in 2009. Yet the rate of inflation rose to 3.1% causing a loss in purchasing power and creating a hardship on the...show more content... According to an hourly wage, that would place a teacher's salary above accountants, computer programmers, and mechanical engineers at the entry level. In addition to the hourly rate, teachers often are given economic incentives that aren't available to other jobs (Teachers). These same researchers also claim that the benefits given to teachers far outweigh those of rival professions. Therefore, stating that based off limited research, teachers are paid an adamant amount of money, and need not complain (Anderson). In contrast there are many reasons why teachers truly are underpaid. First, what these researchers fail to make public, is the fact that the hourly wage that they base a teachers pay is centered only on the hours that a teacher is present at school. They do not take into consideration the hours that teachers put in at home. On average a teacher will work 20% more Sundays than any other profession, these hours will not be paid or documented into a teachers pay schedule. The reasoning behind the large at home workload comes from the excessive amount of homework and assignments that they must grade or create for previous and following work days. Secondly, they are often forced to work at multiple locations, with early starting hours ranging from 6 to 7 am. Furthermore, some of these locations can be extremely far, costing the teacher an Get more content on HelpWriting.net

  • 6. Essay about Library of Alexandria HOW WAS THE GREAT LIBRAY OF ALEXANDRIA ORGANIZED AND OPERATED? WHO OR WHAT CAUSED ITS DESTRUCTION? For the extra credit assignment I have decided to compose as essay describing the great library of Alexandria. The library itself is wrapped up in a great mystery that has had many historians and archeologists heavily interested in its existence for many years. It has been recorded that the library of Alexandria held many thousands, if not millions, of books, volumes and other documents. The library is also believed to be one of the biggest libraries in human history. Its significance is of invaluable knowledge. The mammoth size of such a huge monument for the period of time that is existed is phenomenal. Even...show more content... The area that also took damage was, where the great library stood. Caesar wrote of starting the fire in the harbor but neglected to mention the burning of the Library. Such an omission "proves little since he was not in the habit of including unflattering facts while writing his own history (Trumble and Marshall 2003, 56)". But Caesar was not without public cynics. If he was solely to blame for the disappearance of the Library it is very likely significant documentation on the affair would exist today. The second story that has been hypothesized of the Library's destruction is more popular, thanks primarily to Edward Gibbon's "The Decline and Fall of the Roman Empire." But the story is also a little more complex. "Theophilus was Patriarch of Alexandria from 385 to 412 AD. During his reign the Temple of Serapis was converted into a Christian Church (probably around 391 AD) and it is likely that many documents were destroyed then (Bless 2004)." The Temple of Serapis was estimated to hold about ten percent of the overall Library of Alexandria's holdings. After his death, his nephew Cyril became Patriarch. Shortly after that, riots broke out when Hierax, a Christian monk, was publicly killed by order of Orestes the city Prefect. Orestes was said to be under the influence of Hypatia, a female philosopher and daughter of the "last member of the Library of Alexandria". Although it should be noted on the same count, that Hypatia herself was the Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 7. Abandonment Issue Essay You ask me what are abandonment issues? If you've ever felt this you don't know why you felt this or how it even began. It is the feeling of running across hot coal just to make it to the finish line but still not winning. It is the feeling of having to stand...show more content... But you say to me, family always sticks around. Yes, there is family. They are distant. There's no reason for them to come around. There's no one who could possibly understand because they're grown and I have to stay in a "child's place" or they're to young and everything is a game to them. They can't be there with me at night, nor can they see how lonely I am. But you say to me, my thoughts are irrational. Yes, they may be thought of as irrational to someone who isn't swallowed by the fear of emptiness. You can't possibly fathom the thoughts of someone scared of when the next person will leave with their heart and secrets. They just leave no good–bye or explanation. Abandonment issues eat you from the inside out. They make you second guess yourself. You may even have the occasional thought that you're overthinking all of this, but then there's always that night where you're at your loneliest and there's no one to comfort or hear you out. • 8. The Great Gatsby The Great Gatsby – Chapter 1 Read the beginning of the novel chapter 1 up to page 12 "Tom Buchanan in his riding clothes was standing with his legs apart on the front porch." How effective do you find this as an introduction to Great Gatsby. In your response you should pay close attention to voice, language and style. The Great Gatsby was written by F Scott Fitzgerald in 1925, and is set during 1922, a period tinged with moral failure of a society obsessed with class and privilege. Fitzgerald presents us with the conflict between the illusion and the reality of the American dream. The novel begins in the present tense, and is told through the eyes of Nick Carraway, the narrator and moral centre of the novel. His tale is...show more content... The reader receives the impression that Nick's self analysis of his own character tries to influence their opinion of him. Therefore the reader becomes inclined to question his judgements. Nick Carraway's narration takes the reader into his confidence; he describes significant experiences in an almost voyeuristic way. Nicks narrative style uses elaborate and very mature vocabulary that gives extra depth and description to his account; drawing the reader further into the story. Additionally Nick's tone creates a sense of authority and immediacy which encourages the reader to read on. However Nick's style is challenging; his sentences can be complex, and his vocabulary can be difficult to understand. This could be due to him being an aspiring writer and wishes to impress the reader with his written style. Nick is a participant in the novel with his own specific characteristics therefore his narration is not a neutral affair. In reading the Great Gatsby we need to be aware of what he is disclosing about others. The technique of extreme selectivity demands from the reader close attention, since the narrative is one view point. This perspective can greatly affect our reading of the text. The narrator can position us to like or dislike certain characters.
