Thriller Idea
        Post-apocalypses
by Bob Getty, Kitty Birks and nick lyasovsky
The Idea
• The Idea of the ruined world, people trying to survive after Nuclear war.
• The sequence begins with a man on a beautiful hill with beautiful things surrounding him.

• We get an impression that the world he is in is just too good to be true, there is too much light, non-diegetic music,
    slow-motion kids playing ball.
• Zoom up on his face, followed by flash backs of what happened during the apocalypses and then a zoom out happens
• After this we find ourselves in a laboratory, were there are men in anti-radiation suits and it looks like they are
carrying out an experiment on him.
• After this we do a further zoom out and we get to see out a window into the post apocolyptic world – which is
similar to the background, broken down etc.
•
                                      M-e-s
The man at the beginning is wearing normal shorts and t-shirt and looks healthy in the face
• When he wakes up in post-apocalyptic world he is in scrubs and he looks tired and pale in the face.
• People around him are wearing anti-radiation suits (wader, rain jackets and wellies)
• Props-operation table for him to be lying on, laboratory items, guns and gas masks (bb guns and bb gun
    masks)

• He should be acting happy and at ease but when he wakes his facial expression is confused and shocked.
• His body language is weak, dizzy and confused
Lighting
• At first the lighting is really bright – to convey this idea of a surreal world
• The fake bright light becomes dimmer
• In the laboratory the main source of light comes from the overhead lamp
  (spotlight)

• The light in the post- apocalyptic world is extremely dark (like in
  background image)
Sound
• Starts with diegetic sounds of birds, children laughing/playing
• Diegetic sounds of good world stops as is replaced diegetic sound of siren (like one from
    WW2)
• In post-apocolyptic world diegetic sound of his breathing and of people speaking and medicine
    bottles clinking together.
• Non-diegetic sound to end when we are looking out into this broken world, this is to add
    emotion for the audience
Camera
• Wide shot of him on the hill
• Changes to a mid shot of him looking around
• Zoom on to his face (when the siren starts and flash back begin) and then
zoom out again (to show the change of environment)
• Mid shot of the room
• The further zoom to a wide shot (enables us to see the world outside)
Editing
• Making the beginning world look surreal
• Idea of the flashback, fast pace going through different
  images of apocalyptic
• Point of view shot when he wakes up
Flash Backs
