C.D.Deshmukh was the first Indian to be appointed Governor of the Reserve Bank of India in 1943. He oversaw the post-partition division of assets and liabilities between the RBI of India and Pakistan. He also represented India at the 1944 Bretton Woods Conference which established the IMF and World Bank, and was a member of both institutions' boards of governors for 10 years. C.P. Krishnan Nair was inspired by Subhash Chandra Bose and served in the Indian National Army.
