Bob Castle started Thousand Islands Concrete (TIC) after retiring from Lafarge. He replaced TIC's outdated mixers with newer Reimers volumetric mixers, recognizing the need for more reliable equipment. This allowed TIC to bid on larger projects. With his son Steve joining the business, they created a plan to expand regionally using the mixers' mobility. Their strategy focused on messaging that with volumetric mixers, customers only pay for what they use and have no wait times, helping win over contractors. TIC gained credibility through industry certifications and by completing diverse commercial projects.
