Charley has a strange experience where he discovers a "third level" in Grand Central Station that appears to be stuck in the year 1894. When he tries to return, he is unable to find it. Later, Charley finds a letter from his friend Sam, who has disappeared, saying that he too found the third level and was enjoying life in 1894, encouraging Charley not to give up his search. The mysterious third level and Sam's letter suggest it may have been a passageway to the past that allowed Charley and Sam to escape the stresses of modern life.

This document shall help the teachers who are going to introduce Silk Road - to students. We must
The Silk Road is a fabled route that has been shaped by some of the most extraordinary tracts of land on this planet. A vast region separating China from the Mediterranean, it rates not only as a millennia-old trade route but also as one of the least hospitable on Earth - a succession of hostile deserts and towering mountain ranges, harsh terrain of howling winds, searing heat, and blistering cold.
This book weaves together the personal experience of almost ridiculous endurance - sleeping on steaming rocks in the middle of a sub-zero desert, courting altitude sickness in the otherwise meditative Himalaya, risking the anthrax spores of Voz Island's post-Stalinist wasteland - with the bigger picture of our planet's new 'lost worlds' and their peoples, this is brilliant adventure writing from a man who has dared to go places that often history has feared to tread.
A ppt based on The Last Lesson by Alphonse Daudet. It throws light on the author, the background information on the Franco-Prussian War, Bismark, Alsace-Lorraine, a short summary of the lesson & a concise glossary of words.

Third Level Summary – It is a story about a 31-year-old man name, Charlie. Besides, this is a psychological story that refers to the subway at the grand central railway station which takes passengers to Galesburg. In addition, this subway becomes the interconnection between the narrator’s harsh reality and fantasy. Moreover, the third level was a way of escape for Charley. As life in the modern world is full of uncertainties worries and stress, it takes Charley to a different world that his friend also calls, “a walking dream wish fulfilment.” Further, the story is about Charley’s tendency to escape from the world. Most importantly, the third level starts because of Sam’s letter written on 18th July 1984. This story shows the connection between time and space.

2024.06.01 Introducing a competency framework for languag learning materials ...Sandy Millin
http://sandymillin.wordpress.com/iateflwebinar2024
Published classroom materials form the basis of syllabuses, drive teacher professional development, and have a potentially huge influence on learners, teachers and education systems. All teachers also create their own materials, whether a few sentences on a blackboard, a highly-structured fully-realised online course, or anything in between. Despite this, the knowledge and skills needed to create effective language learning materials are rarely part of teacher training, and are mostly learnt by trial and error.
Knowledge and skills frameworks, generally called competency frameworks, for ELT teachers, trainers and managers have existed for a few years now. However, until I created one for my MA dissertation, there wasn’t one drawing together what we need to know and do to be able to effectively produce language learning materials.
This webinar will introduce you to my framework, highlighting the key competencies I identified from my research. It will also show how anybody involved in language teaching (any language, not just English!), teacher training, managing schools or developing language learning materials can benefit from using the framework.

The French Revolution, which began in 1789, was a period of radical social and political upheaval in France. It marked the decline of absolute monarchies, the rise of secular and democratic republics, and the eventual rise of Napoleon Bonaparte. This revolutionary period is crucial in understanding the transition from feudalism to modernity in Europe.
