Purpose and Goals
Financial institutions deals with many customers and companies every single day, which
forces them to ensure a strong and secure computer network that can make their transactions
fast and reliable with no delays and errors .
To build any bank computer system network . Setting a topology is the first step to achieve
this Goal . Cisco PacketTracer is a simulation software. It can be used to create complicated
network topologies, as well as to test and simulate abstract networking concepts.
InThis thesis our goal is to develop and simulate a banking network system that will easily
manage any banking task. Depending on MicrosoftVisio setting the fitting topology is the First
step , after comes the main goal which is configuring the correct settings to these devices using
Cisco packet tracer.
1
Statement of
The Problem
Nowadays, banks are competing to provide the best
and fastest networks for their customers and employees,
which requires an excellent computer system network.
Most critical is the need for synchronized time in today’s
network environments. As organizations grow and the
network services they provide continue to increase, the
challenges involved with providing accurate time to their
systems and applications also increase. Every aspect of
managing, securing, planning, and debugging a network
involves determining when events happen.Time is the
critical element that allows an event on one network node
to be mapped to a corresponding event on another. In
many cases, these challenges can be overcome by the
enterprise deployment of the NTP service.

Idea ofThe
Project
Development of a bank system computer
network based on Cisco Packet Tracer.
Networking impacts everything –
from applications to backup and recovery
tools ,from the way banks’ teams
communicate to the way important
information is stored , the right networking
solution can help a business grow and
evolve. Not only does it allow staff to share
information effortlessly, increasing
productivity and efficiency.

Network protocols used
A network protocol is an established set of rules that determine how data is transmitted between different
devices in the same network. Essentially, it allows connected devices to communicate with each other,
regardless of any differences in their internal processes, structure or design.
TCP
•Organizing data in a way that ensures the secure transmission
between the server and client.
UDP
•Establish low-latency and loss-tolerating connections between
applications on the internet.
HSRP
•Provides high network availability, because it routes IP traffic
from hosts on networks without relying on the availability of
any single router.
IP
• Routing and addressing packets of data so that they can travel
across networks and arrive at the correct destination.
DHCP
•Automatically provides an Internet Protocol (IP) host with its
IP address and other related configuration information such
as the subnet mask and default gateway.
VTP
• Distribute and synchronize identifying information about
VLANs configured throughout a switched network.
STP
• Prevent bridge loops and the broadcast radiation that
results from them.
RTP
• Deliver streaming audio and video media over the internet,
thereby enabling the Voice Over Internet Protocol (VoIP).
6
Routing
protocol used
Routing protocols are mechanisms by which routing information is
exchanged between routers so that routing decisions can be
made. There are several routing protocols but in our bank network
we used EIGRP routing protocol due to :
EIGRP is an advanced distance-vector routing protocol that
helps in automating routing decisions & configurations on a
computer network.
One striking feature about EIGRP is that it supports both IPv6
and IPv4 networks.
EIGRP helps in reducing network traffic by only enabling “need-
based” updates.
It provides encryption for security and can be used with iBGP
for WAN routing.
EIGRP with protocol-dependent modules can route several
different layer protocols. It performs a much easier transition
with a multi-address family.
EIGRP configuration was designed to be easy to configure.

All the hosts and devices has
been configured the same way :

• SSH configuration
• VTP configuration
• Port trunk configuration
• Spanning tree
configuration
• NTP configuration

IPTelephony
IP phone shown in slide 5 uses voice over IP
technologies for placing and transmitting
telephone calls over an IP network, such as
the Internet. This contrasts with a standard
phone which uses the traditional public
switched telephone network.
7960 IP phones provide :
 six programmable line.
 feature buttons and four interactive soft
keys(that guide a user through call features
and functions.).
 Internet port. Figure 5. Ip phone 7960 (PhysicalView) (Forward).

Test connectivity (IP phones)
Figure 6. Screenshot shows Ip phones connection. 11
Servers used
NTP server
• It uses Coordinated UniversalTime
(UTC) to synchronize CPU Clock time.
• Avoids even having a fraction of
vulnerabilities in information exchange
communication.
• NTP Servers have access to highly
precise atomic clocks and GPU clocks.
DNS server
• convert URLs and domain names into IP
addresses that computers can
understand and use .
• translate what a user types into a
browser into something the machine
can use to find a webpage
WEB server
• Stores and secures website data.
• Bandwidth controlling to regulate
network traffic .
• Provides web database access .

Conclusion
Now a days , Banks are facing big challenge to make their
Bank computer System network strong , stable and secure
that’s what we tried to solve in this Project thesis by setup
the matching topology to our requirements, selecting the
right devices, and the correct configuration. With this
standards the network will be easier to handle, and it will
route the data in the shortest path in a vast distributed
system . In future we will try to implement it in real life so
that banks can use it and get benefited from this project.
