This document summarizes a research study that examined teachers' perceptions of the effectiveness of play-based learning on reading comprehension among Grade II learners in the Day-as Elementary School in Cordova District, Cebu Province, Philippines. The study found that most teacher respondents were female, aged 31-40 years old, married, had been teaching for 4-6 years, had a master's degree, received a performance rating of very satisfactory, and had attended relevant trainings. It also found that play-based learning was highly effective in improving reading comprehension, and that its use had a positive relationship with student reading performance. The study proposed several play-based class activities to enhance reading instruction and student performance.

ABSTRACT
Test constructed by the teacher at the class room leve l at the end of a term or end of the year is referred to as school based examination (SBE) student often perform well in the SBE because items are drawn from topic covered by the class teacher. This study is to find out the predictive validity of SBE in relation to NECO and WAEC, SSCE. The population of the study was all (670) senior secondary school in Borno state. Student performance in SBE and WAEC and NECO in English language and history in senior secondary school in 2006, 2007 and 2008 were correlated. Purposive sampling was used in selecting the school. At the time of this study only three school were found to be offering English language but not history) one school in Gwoza zone and two in Maiduguri zone. These three schools were used as samples. The result of the analysis revealed that student’s performance SSCE IN WAEC and SSCE NECO was low but there performance in SBE is high. The student performance is low in English in NECO and WAEC because no student score A or B grade for the three years in school studied. While no student obtained A or B in NECO and WAEC, the student performance in history for the three years show that few student obtained A and B grades the researcher recommend that teacher in senior secondary schools should be made to go for workshops on test construction so that they can construct good test items to match WAEC and NECO standard.

This study examines strategies for improving low academic performance in the English language in secondary schools in Kaduna state. Over the years, there has been a consistent decline in students’ performance in the English Language. This sordid situation has caused teachers, parents, curriculum experts and evaluators a serious concern. To carry out this investigation, data were collected from thirty-eight (38) English language teachers randomly from twenty secondary schools in Kaduna North Local Government Area. Analysis of the data revealed that poorly trained English language teachers, poor instructional delivery, lack of infrastructural facilities, teachers’ attitude toward innovation, and the traditional content/knowledge-oriented curriculum were factors associated with students’ low performance in the English language. Based on the findings recommendations were made on strategies that will improve the quality of performance in the subject. In this work, data was collected in the area of material, facilities and human resources available for teaching the subject, using questionnaires, personal interviews and relevant textbooks. Put together, the research questionnaire distributed was forty.
This project is an initiative under the Highly Immersive Programme aimed at collaboration between Pejabat Pendidikan Daerah Hulu Terengganu and schools in the vicinity through vocabulary learning. The collaboration requires the teacher to guide learners where they are expected to use their background knowledge in designing short vocabulary lessons as well as interacting with the world around them in physical and digital form.
Injecting the element of fun by using a realia called Perky Piung, it promotes experiences that are active, social, contextual and engaging. Through this project, the collaboration became personal and tangible post-project via interaction on the various social media platform. In conclusion, this project aspires to ignite positive relationship thus providing opportunities for higher-order thinking, oral communication, and leadership skills in the parties involved.

This study probed on factors affecting the reading comprehension among 264 Grade Six learners in the three selected schools in the District of Tanza Cavite for the academic year 2018-2019. The researcher aptly considered the descriptive method of research using Phil-IRI Test and a researcher- made questionnaire as data gathering instruments. The gathered data were analyzed through percentage, mean, arbitrary scale with its corresponding adjectival interpretation, and the Pearson product moment of correlation. The singular hypothesis was tested at 0.05 level of significance. Findings revealed that majority of the Grade VI learners comprised the instructional level of reading comprehension; the parent, home, teacher and learner factors all have moderate extent of association to the learners’ level of reading comprehension; and that the parent factor had a weak association with learners’ level of reading comprehension, while home, teacher and learner factors have had a negligible association with learners’ reading comprehension level. Furthermore, it revealed that the all the factors considered significantly affect the reading comprehension of the 6th Grade learners. The researcher therefore recommends Reading/English teachers and school managers to expose students with variety of reading materials so it can positively affect learners level of reading comprehension; and that the external stakeholders must be informed on the relevance of reading activities at school and at home to ensure that learners will be molded holistically. by Amado Montera Cadiong 2020. Connor Street Early Childhood Program is made up of 20% Hispanic students, 2 students are Asian, and 3 students are from the Caribbean. The school serves working-class and low-income families and as a result all but three of the students in the program are at school between 7 to 9 hours a day. The evaluation data is based on four classrooms of 4-year-olds with one teacher and one assistant teacher.

When looking at the NAEYC Self-Assessment Family Survey, there were many survey questions where all 29 families surveyed acknowledged strengths within the Connor Street program. This reflects many of the wonderful things you as staff are doing at Connor Street! Families noted that the staff at Connor Street were good teachers who cared for their children. Families said staff had a good relationship with the children and parents and are good at communicating what is going on at school and checking in to see how things are going at home. Families acknowledged that they knew the rules and procedures of the school and Connor Street’s mission and philosophy. Families surveyed felt that Connor Street staff actively engaged with families and the community through events. Lastly, families felt they were invited into the classrooms to participate in their child’s learning throughout the year.

The Effectiveness of Group Work Role Play on EFL Students’ Accuracy in Speaki...AJSERJournal
In recent years, role-play activities have been widely used in the ESL/EFL classroom as an effective
teaching method. This research paper aimed to investigate how group work role play activities can produce effect on
students’ accuracy in speaking skill as well as how students get involved in the activities at Dong Nai Technology
University. The experiment lasted in eight weeks and about fifteen students took part in this project. Oral tests were
designed at the end of the experiment to measure students’ improvement. In addition, three research methods
employed in my research were observation, semi-structured group interview and students’ diaries in order to perfectly
understand how group work role play activities affected the participants and their attitude toward role play. The
research paper came up with a positive result that all students participated in the activities and generated strong
motivation in the classroom. As the research observed, the lessons with role play seem to be more interesting and
attractive. In the contrast, an unexpected outcome was that role play could help improve students’ fluency but not
accuracy. This paper points out both strong and weak aspects of using group work role play in improving students’
accuracy in speaking English. Based on the principal findings, conducting this research greatly affects our future
practice as teachers. We believe that this research can help us respond to new challenges and become a better
practitioner. As a consequence, this process would make tremendous impacts on our future practice

This research determined the teachers’ perceived effectiveness of
play-based learning in reading comprehension of Grade II learners
in Day-as Elementary School, Cordova District, Cebu Province for
school year 2020-2021 as basis for a play-based class activity. The
researcher used the descriptive method of research in the
gathering of important data relevant to the study.

Findings reveal that majority of the respondents belong to the age
group of 31-40 years old. Most of them are female, married, have
been in the institution for 4-6 years, obtained units in their
Master’s Degree, have a performance rating of very satisfactory
and have attended district and division trainings, seminars and
workshops. Meanwhile, when it comes to the Grade II learner-
respondents, all of them are aged 7 years old while majority are
boys.

When dealing with the level of effectiveness of play-based learning on the
reading comprehension of the Grade II learners, it garnered an overall grand
mean of 3.80 which means that the teacher-respondents highly perceived play-
based learning activities to be effective. Meanwhile, when testing the
relationship between the level of effectiveness of play-based learning activities
and the level of reading performance of the learners, it yielded a significant
relationship which means that utilization of play-based learning activities has a
positive impact on the English reading performance of the Grade II learners.

performance of the learners, it yielded a significant relationship which
means that utilization of play-based learning activities has a positive
impact to the English reading performance of the Grade II learners.

Based on the salient findings of the study, it can be concluded that the
utilization of play-based learning activities among the teachers will
contribute to the learners’ performance in the subject matter. This
means further that play-based learning is therefore a factor to consider
in seeking to elevate the reading performance of the Grade II learners.

Based on the conclusions derived from the findings of the study, the following are recommended:
1. The proposed play-based class activities be implemented in the research locale;
2. Topics similar to this research to include a bigger pool of respondents;
3. Future researchers to consider the results of this study as bases for studies they might conduct in
the future;
4. Play-based must be incorporated in the curriculum in order to improve the reading
comprehension of learners at this level of their educational journey; and
5. The Department of Education train teachers to see research results as guide in refining the
reading performance of the learners.
