Joann Huang presented ideas for her thesis project that included interests in comic books, classic films by Alfred Hitchcock, design patterns, storyboarding, and print design. She showed precedents involving a story combining superheroes and Hitchcock's suspense style, an interactive multimedia experience based on Rear Window, and reimaginings of Hitchcock film posters and movies as designs, installations, and 8-bit games. For her project, she proposed ideas like creating wearable designs of Hitchcock's films, a frame-by-frame comic of North by Northwest, a short film tribute, patterns based on his motifs, a North by Northwest board game, and toys of his characters.
