This document is a continuing education activity report form from the Wisconsin Department of Public Instruction. It provides instructions for library directors to complete and submit annually to their library system validator to report on continuing education activities. The form includes sections to provide details on a specific continuing education activity, such as a program titled "There is an App for That: From Concept to Launch" that provided 0.5 contact hours of instruction on developing a mobile app for a library program. I. CONTINUING EDUCATION ACTIVITY DESCRIPTION
Title of Program
30-Minute Thursday: There is an App for That: From Concept to Launch
Description of Program
In April, the Waukesha County Federated Library System launched a mobile app for 1,000 Books Before Kindergarten. Project
manager of the UW-Milwaukee App Brewery, Dustin Hahn, and his student team worked side by side with representatives
from the member libraries in Waukesha County to create an app that meets the needs of today's high-tech and on-the-go
parents and caregivers. In this session, you will gain insight into what they learned during the development, testing and launch
phases of the app. Hear about the process of developing this app from two perspectives—the librarian who wanted the app in
the app store yesterday, and the developer - who had to figure out how to deliver it.
