Wrote this when I was down, writing helps me feel better about myself, what do you think?

1. There’s a girl in the mirror, I think I know her, I wish I did. There are tears in her eyes, but it’s
covered up with make-up. Every morning she wakes up and convinces herself she’s fine. She
paints a mask on her face then leaves’, knowing it has to stick for the day. She laughs for the
day, puts on a show, scared that somebody will see the scars that lie underneath. She
carries on, maybe she’s hoping someone will see, she’s not the girl she makes up to be, but
they don’t. So she carries on. Hiding behind a fake smile. She starts to feel numb; she knows
she can’t hide it for much longer, she’s goes into the toilet and paints a smile back on, it was
close but no one saw. On the way home, she listens to her music, she can finally be free,
from the girl she made herself up to be. At night, it’s bad. The stranger from within is found
again. Knocking her down every second she gets. She’s tired. But the stranger keeps her
awake, saying she’s worthless, telling her to die. The girl has had enough. She’s fed up with
being her. She takes a razor and pierces her skin, maybe that’s enough to get the stranger to
leave, but she just gets worse. She can’t handle it anymore. Deeper and deeper, the cuts
just keep coming. She’s lost a lot of blood, the place looks like a murder scene. Screams
come from within. She gets rushed to hospital, everyone is so distorted, her mum wants to
hold her, and she wants to keep her little girl safe. The doctor walks in, it’s too late. She’s
gone. Silent fills the room. Her little sister wants her back; she wants her to be alright. She
doesn’t understand. Her brother gets mad, punching the wall and cursing. Her mum and
dad. They don’t believe it. What did they do wrong? Was it their fault? Maybe they could
have stopped it from happening? But it’s too late. The girl is under flowers now. She’s at
peace, everything she every felt before is gone. She’s free. There was a girl in the mirror; I
think I knew her, I wish I had.
