Nightmare in Yellow
He planned her death to perfection. The exact time, the exact place.
But what use is that if she isn’t where he wants her to be? Linguini
was the name of the restaurant. She was having the time of her life,
laughing and smiling. He despised her laugh but just to make her feel
more comfortable he laughed with her. Finally they left the place. He
was running late and needed to get home quicker than he intended.
He had an anxious look on his face. “What’s the matter?” His wife
asked “Nothing dear” he replied with a cold smile.
They had arrived home, his plan a little behind; he had to rush. It
was pouring with rain outside and they were soaking wet. He offered
her some hot chocolate, “Yes” she replied. He made the hot
chocolate and gave it to her. He had two minutes left before 20:04.
He bolted up the stairs and prepared the knife. Sharpening it and
then admiring its design. He came down the stairs slowly. He could
barely contain his excitement, as it was time. He walked up to her as
she was sitting on the couch helplessly and brought out the knife. He
began the upswing when suddenly; there was a knock on the door.
He opened the door and it was the police! He turned pale with fright.
“You are under arrest for potential matricide”. His wife turned and
grinned. She knew all along! He was infuriated as he was just
outsmarted by his wife. They took him away and he was never seen
again.
