Hudson Jameson has been involved in cryptocurrency since 2011, working at the Ethereum Foundation and Oaken Innovations. He founded Oaken Innovations to create a secure IoT platform using blockchain technology. Oaken's platform uses ACORNs (Autonomous Communication Over Redundant Nodes) which provide security to both hardware and software on an IoT network. As a demonstration, Oaken built a decentralized car sharing app using Ethereum, IPFS, and a modified version of MQTT to allow secure unlocking of cars. The platform aims to increase security and allow for new uses of connected devices and their data.
Ethereum technology and will also show how to make smart contracts within the Ethereum.
The presentation will include a little bit of history about the blockchain, advice on how to create an environment to test and deploy your own smart contracts using Truffle, and a breakdown of the tools needed to leverage Ethereum beyond cryptocurrency.
Distributed Ledgers, Blockchains, and Smart ContractsDusan Andric
This document introduces distributed ledger technology (DLT) and blockchains, including how they provide a decentralized and trustless alternative to centralized systems through consensus mechanisms. It describes how blockchains like Bitcoin use cryptography to record transactions in an immutable ledger, and how Ethereum generalized blockchains through smart contracts that run on a global decentralized computer. Smart contracts enable decentralized applications (Dapps) that do not require centralized user management. Examples of real-world DLT applications include stock exchanges, property registries, and autonomous organizations.
This document introduces smart contracts on Ethereum using the Solidity programming language. It explains that Ethereum builds upon Bitcoin by introducing a Turing-complete virtual machine that allows for more complex smart contracts. Solidity is an object-oriented language that compiles to bytecode run on the Ethereum Virtual Machine. Smart contracts can send and receive cryptocurrency and be deployed on the Ethereum mainnet or testnets. The document outlines some current limitations of Ethereum and provides useful links for developing with Solidity.
This document provides an overview of Ethereum, a decentralized platform that allows for the creation of decentralized applications and smart contracts. Some key points covered include:
- Ethereum uses a blockchain to store an immutable record of transactions across a peer-to-peer network.
- Smart contracts are programs stored on the blockchain that execute automatically when conditions are met. They can be used to build currencies, voting systems, and other decentralized applications.
- Ether is the cryptocurrency or fuel that is required to run applications and smart contracts on Ethereum. The more computation required, the more ether is consumed.
- Examples of decentralized applications built on Ethereum include prediction markets, exchanges, and product origin trackers.

Ethereum is a decentralized platform that runs smart contracts: applications that run exactly as programmed without downtime, censorship, fraud or third party interference. It allows developers to build decentralized applications (Dapps) on top of its blockchain using its native cryptocurrency called Ether. Some examples of Dapps being built on Ethereum include digital identities, financial services and prediction markets. The development of Ethereum was pioneered by Vitalik Buterin in 2013 and the network went live in 2015.

Bitcoin: Not just a currency but an IoT facilitatorRobin Teigland
Bitcoin facilitates IoT by enabling trustless transactions and smart contracts on distributed networks. It allows devices and assets to transact directly through payments encoded in the blockchain. This could support decentralized sharing networks and new forms of digital organizations and governance. While still early, blockchain technology may help realize a more collaborative economy by distributing control through open and peer-to-peer systems.
Bitcoin is a digital currency created by Satoshi Nakamoto and released as open-source software in 2009. It allows online payments to be sent directly from one party to another without an intermediary. There will ultimately only be 21 million bitcoins created. Bitcoins are stored in digital wallets consisting of a public and private key. They can be obtained through mining, exchanging other currencies, buying from individuals, or selling goods/services for bitcoins. While they offer advantages over traditional currencies, bitcoins also carry risks like volatility, hacking, and theft if not properly secured.

zkStudyClub - Reef: Fast Succinct Non-Interactive Zero-Knowledge Regex ProofsAlex Pruden
This paper presents Reef, a system for generating publicly verifiable succinct non-interactive zero-knowledge proofs that a committed document matches or does not match a regular expression. We describe applications such as proving the strength of passwords, the provenance of email despite redactions, the validity of oblivious DNS queries, and the existence of mutations in DNA. Reef supports the Perl Compatible Regular Expression syntax, including wildcards, alternation, ranges, capture groups, Kleene star, negations, and lookarounds. Reef introduces a new type of automata, Skipping Alternating Finite Automata (SAFA), that skips irrelevant parts of a document when producing proofs without undermining soundness, and instantiates SAFA with a lookup argument. Our experimental evaluation confirms that Reef can generate proofs for documents with 32M characters; the proofs are small and cheap to verify (under a second).

Effective Application Security in Software Delivery lifecycle using Deployment Firewall and DBOM
The modern software delivery process (or the CI/CD process) includes many tools, distributed teams, open-source code, and cloud platforms. Constant focus on speed to release software to market, along with the traditional slow and manual security checks has caused gaps in continuous security as an important piece in the software supply chain. Today organizations feel more susceptible to external and internal cyber threats due to the vast attack surface in their applications supply chain and the lack of end-to-end governance and risk management.
The software team must secure its software delivery process to avoid vulnerability and security breaches. This needs to be achieved with existing tool chains and without extensive rework of the delivery processes. This talk will present strategies and techniques for providing visibility into the true risk of the existing vulnerabilities, preventing the introduction of security issues in the software, resolving vulnerabilities in production environments quickly, and capturing the deployment bill of materials (DBOM).

Observability Concepts EVERY Developer Should Know -- DeveloperWeek Europe.pdfPaige Cruz
Monitoring and observability aren’t traditionally found in software curriculums and many of us cobble this knowledge together from whatever vendor or ecosystem we were first introduced to and whatever is a part of your current company’s observability stack.
While the dev and ops silo continues to crumble….many organizations still relegate monitoring & observability as the purview of ops, infra and SRE teams. This is a mistake - achieving a highly observable system requires collaboration up and down the stack.
I, a former op, would like to extend an invitation to all application developers to join the observability party will share these foundational concepts to build on:
Dr. Sean Tan, Head of Data Science, Changi Airport Group
Discover how Changi Airport Group (CAG) leverages graph technologies and generative AI to revolutionize their search capabilities. This session delves into the unique search needs of CAG’s diverse passengers and customers, showcasing how graph data structures enhance the accuracy and relevance of AI-generated search results, mitigating the risk of “hallucinations” and improving the overall customer journey.
