Marketing & Promotions 2015
“September 30, 2015 marks
the end of the first quarter of
our new fiscal year. We find
ourselves in a period full of
challenge and opportunity.
The greatest current chal-
lenge is presented by the
current problems besetting
the oil patch, which affects
many of our largest custom-
ers. We feel it most acutely
in our Western Oklahoma
and Texas panhandle stores.
The people in those stores
have responded by maintain-
ing high service levels to help
our customers weather it and
be ready to grow with them
as prices rebound, as history
tells us they will.
The other stores have picked
up some slack. In August, 14
out of 18 stores reached or
exceeded their budgets. Alt-
hough budgets for the com-
pany were trimmed some for
the second half of the year,
they were set realistically and
at a profitable level. For the
quarter just finished, we are
ahead of budget as a compa-
ny.
I wish to thank everyone who
has doubled down on their
efforts. When things are slow
economically, customers
expect more dedication from
us. You have done a good job
of meeting those expecta-
tions.
We have our annual manag-
ers meeting October 16-17
here in OKC. All 18 store
managers will be here, plus
those who oversee opera-
tions, product, marketing,
sales, IT, and training. We
will firm up plans for 2016.
Speaking of 2016, we will not
assume that the oil and gas
business has a quick recov-
ery. We obviously hope that
is the case, but will plan con-
servatively. That doesn’t
mean we are pulling back.
Open houses will improve, as
they do every year. We are
committed to taking product
training to our customers.
We will refocus on employee
product training. We remain
committed to HDATruckPride
programs, with a new im-
portant one about to be rolled
out. We have nothing but
bright days ahead.” —Dave

“During August and September,
all locations participated in the
Continental Rubber product fo-
cus.
Each location selected four cus-
tomers to receive a specially
packaged box of branded items
and promotional materials. The
items in the box included Conti-
nental hats, pens and product in-
formation. The purpose of the
promotion was to focus attention
to the product line, to thank our
existing customers and to
develop additional custom-
ers for this product line. The
promotion was a great suc-
cess both in rewarding our
current customers and in
providing opportunities for
increased business with the
chosen customers. Thanks to
all who worked to develop
the programs and to all
those who worked to make it
a success.

I saw Faith No More with
Dusty, my friend Amber, and
her daughter in Dallas, TX on
7/27/2015 at the South Side
Ballroom. The opening act was
Napalm Death, which I could
have done without. Faith No
More hit it big in 1989 with their
song “Epic”. The band officially
broke up in 1998. I remember
Amber and me promising each
other if they ever got back to-
gether we would go together and
17 years later we finally got to
seem them! They were fantastic!
They had a wonderful chemistry
that they had definitely lost lead-
ing up to their break up in 1998.
The stage looked great. It was an
all-white stage covered in flow-
ers and the band wore white
linen outfits. They played several
songs from their new album
“Sol Invictus” which was re-
leased in May of this year but
they also played many of their
older songs such as “Separation
Anxiety”, “Midlife Crisis” , their
cover of The Commodores clas-
sic “Easy”, and “We Care A
Lot” – which many people
know as the theme song to the
Discovery Show Dirty Jobs.
Overall the concert was a won-
derful time and one heck of a
comeback by Faith No More.

the event sponsors. We were
treated to attend the races

time that this kind of racing

were given pit crew shirts and hats. It
was really cool to watch the races

3 tablespoons melted margarine
6 cups Krispy crispy rice cereal
10 ounces miniature marshmallows
Green Mike and Ike candy
Orange food coloring
Melt margarine in large microwave safe bowl.
Add marshmallows, and heat again in microwave
until soft and fluffy. Put in a few drops of food
coloring to achieve desired color. Stir in cereal
and mix well. Using lightly greased hands, shape
into small handful sized balls. Place onto pan
lined with parchment paper and put candy piece
in the top for a stem. Pumpkins aren't generally
perfectly round, so it makes this a very kid
friendly recipe.
3 tablespoons butter
10 oz. package marshmallows
6 cups Rice Krispies cereal
Scooby Doo Baked Graham Cracker
Sticks (about 12-14)
Vanilla CANDIQUIK
Sprinkles for garnish
Melt some candiquik in the microwave and dip the
graham cracker sticks until about 3/4 coated.
Allow to set on some wax paper.
In microwave-safe bowl heat butter and marsh-
mallows on high for 3 minutes, stirring after 2
minutes. Stir until smooth.
Add krispies cereal. Stir until well coated.
When the candiquik on the graham cracker sticks
has cooled, spray your hands with nonstick cook-
ing spray and mold the rice krispy mixture around
the sticks - like the meat on a turkey leg, pressing
some sprinkles gently onto the rice krispy mixture
to secure.
Set the legs aside to set on wax paper for about
10-15 minutes. Store in a covered container to
keep fresh.
8 wooden skewers or caramel apple
sticks
16 powdered donut holes
8 miniature York Peppermint Patties
8 miniature Reese’s Peanut Butter
Cups
3-4 lengths Fruit by the Foot
Prepared white frosting
Mini chocolate chips
1 box orange Tic Tacs
Carefully stick the pointy end of a wooden skewer through
2 donut holes, a peppermint patty and a peanut butter
cup, making sure the stick does not come through the top
of the peanut butter cup.
Using kitchen shears or clean scissors, cut 8 strips of Fruit
by the Foot, about 8 inches long by 1/2 inch wide. Cut
fringes at the ends of each strip to make a scarf. Carefully
peel the fruit strips from the paper backing and tie a strip
around the “neck” of each snowman.
Use a skewer or sucker stick to poke 3 holes in the top
donut hole, one for the nose and two for the eyes. Place a
small dab of frosting in each hole.
Push a Tic Tac into the center hole to make a nose, and
place two mini chocolate chips in the remaining holes to
make eyes.

What is Life

A woman brought a very limp duck into a veterinary
surgeon. As she laid her pet on the table, the vet
pulled out his stethoscope and listened to the bird's
chest.
After a moment or two, the vet shook his head and
sadly said, "I'm sorry, your duck, Cuddles, has
passed away."
The distressed woman wailed, "Are you sure?"
"Yes, I am sure. Your duck is dead," replied the
vet..
"How can you be so sure?" she protested. "I mean
you haven't done any testing on him or anything.
He might just be in a coma or something."
The vet rolled his eyes, turned around and left the
room. He returned a few minutes later with a black
Labrador Retriever. As the duck's owner looked on
in amazement, the dog stood on his hind legs, put his
front paws on the examination table and sniffed the
duck from top to bottom. He then looked up at the
vet with sad eyes and shook his head.
The vet patted the dog on the head and took it out
of the room. A few minutes later he returned with
a cat. The cat jumped on the table and also delicately
sniffed the bird from head to foot. The cat sat back
on its haunches, shook its head, meowed softly and
strolled out of the room.
The vet looked at the woman and said, "I'm sorry,
but as I said, this is most definitely, 100% certifiably,
a dead duck."
The vet turned to his computer terminal, hit a few keys
and produced a bill, which he handed to the woman..
The duck's owner, still in shock, took the bill. "$150!"
she cried, "$150 just to tell me my duck is dead!"
The vet shrugged, "I'm sorry. If you had just taken my
word for it, the bill would have been $20, but with the
Lab Report and the Cat Scan, it's now $150."

“OFTEN"
by Dave Earnest
I am often lost in conversation,
thinking as I speak.
And my mind is not capable of both
while passing an idiot on the street taking the time to say hi.
I am often driven into confusion
about how a brain can be made better
while ignorance is rampant at the refusal of education
to live in poverty off my dollar.
I am often stupid as I think I have the ability to change one more life
poisoned with money and faith in the wrong place
committed to a false idol of ideal
but on bended knee to it with ear plugs and blinders.
And in that church of imagined impossibility will not change...
I am often misread with a simple message
converted to hatred and translated to a whole new meaning
never intended...
but brought into a new genre of thought by accident.
I am often wrong as everyone else has their own life to live
and I am thrown away for being naked and truthful
Like flowers from a jilted lover
arriving to late to make a difference.
I am often not polite and say what is on my mind
and find embarrassment in anything that should be so inappropriate
to cause a difference
and simply forgive myself
I am often tired as I am now
and will leave my signature to be interpreted
for the other view of it might mean.
Encouragement or insult.
I am often done with what I have say.

Ant Man
A brother and sister are sent to their grandparents’remote
Pennsylvania farmhouse for a weeklong trip. Once the chil-
dren notice that the elderly couple is involved in something
deeply disturbing, they see their chances of getting back home
are growing smaller every day. It is definitely a good blend of
comedy and horror.
Armed with the astonishing ability to shrink in scale but increase in
strength, con-man Scott Lang (Paul Rudd) must embrace his inner-hero
and help his mentor, Dr. Hank Pym (Michael Douglas), protect the se-
cret behind his spectacular Ant-Man suit from a new generation of tow-
ering threats. Against seemingly insurmountable obstacles, Pym and
Lang must plan and pull off a heist that will save the world . This was
one of those fun movies of the summer, that has just about everything,
just the right amount of humor (thanks to Paul Rudd), lots of action,
and even a little drama. Quick, witty, funny movie with a great script,
that kinds of reminds me somewhat of "Honey I Shrunk the Kids".

OCTOBER 24TH: NATIONAL BOLOGNA DAY
•••Offbeat Fall/Winter Holidays•••
This distant cousin of the Charcuterie family is far less pretentious in taste than its name might
imply. Bologna has roots in Bologna, Italy, derived from a sausage made there called mortadella.
These days, it’s more humble, and commonly associated with cheeses of the Kraft Singles variety.
It also can be a colloquial expression meaning “full of it,” which you just might be after a holiday of
eating lots of bologna.
Or as we like to call it, “Discover the science project you didn’t know you had growing in your
refrigerator Day.”
NOVEMBER 15TH: CLEAN OUT YOUR REFRIGERATOR DAY
December 16th: National Cover Anything With Chocolate Day
Not to be confused with National Chocolate Day on October 28th, this holiday is your
free pass to dip anything in chocolate you otherwise wouldn’t the other 364 days of
the year.

David Earnest was unable to attend that day.”—Jim Penwell VROOM, VROOM! I Like Big Bucks & I Cannot Lie 5.

Using lightly greased hands, shape into small handful sized balls. Place onto pan lined with parchment paper and put candy piece in the top for a stem. A woman broughta very limp duck into a veterinary surgeon. As she laid her pet on the table, the vet pulled out his stethoscope and listened to the bird's chest. After a moment or two, the vet shook his head and sadly said, "I'm sorry, your duck, Cuddles, has passed away." The distressed woman wailed, "Are you sure?" "Yes, I am sure. Your duck is dead," replied the vet.. "How can you be so sure?" she protested. "I mean you haven't done any testing on him or anything. He might just be in a coma or something." The vet rolled his eyes, turned around and left the room. He returned a few minutes later with a black Labrador Retriever. As the duck's owner looked on in amazement, the dog stood on his hind legs, put his front paws on the examination table and sniffed the duck from top to bottom. He then looked up at the vet with sad eyes and shook his head. The vet patted the dog on the head and took it out of the room. A few minutes later he returned with a cat. The cat jumped on the table and also delicately sniffed the bird from head to foot. The cat sat back on its haunches, shook its head, meowed softly and strolled out of the room. The vet looked at the woman and said, "I'm sorry, but as I said, this is most definitely, 100% certifiably, a dead duck." The vet turned to his computer terminal, hit a few keys and produced a bill, which he handed to the woman.. The duck's owner, still in shock, took the bill. "$150!" she cried, "$150 just to tell me my duck is dead!" The vet shrugged, "I'm sorry. If you had just taken my word for it, the bill would have been $20, but with the Lab Report and the Cat Scan, it's now $150." -Bobby Creech, Okc mgr. 17.

“OFTEN" by Dave Earnest Iam often lost in conversation, thinking as I speak. And my mind is not capable of both while passing an idiot on the street taking the time to say hi. I am often driven into confusion about how a brain can be made better while ignorance is rampant at the refusal of education to live in poverty off my dollar. I am often stupid as I think I have the ability to change one more life poisoned with money and faith in the wrong place committed to a false idol of ideal but on bended knee to it with ear plugs and blinders. And in that church of imagined impossibility will not change... I am often misread with a simple message converted to hatred and translated to a whole new meaning never intended... but brought into a new genre of thought by accident. I am often wrong as everyone else has their own life to live and I am thrown away for being naked and truthful Like flowers from a jilted lover arriving to late to make a difference. I am often not polite and say what is on my mind and find embarrassment in anything that should be so inappropriate to cause a difference and simply forgive myself I am often tired as I am now and will leave my signature to be interpreted for the other view of it might mean. Encouragement or insult. I am often done with what I have say. 18.

Ant Man A brotherand sister are sent to their grandparents’remote Pennsylvania farmhouse for a weeklong trip. Once the chil- dren notice that the elderly couple is involved in something deeply disturbing, they see their chances of getting back home are growing smaller every day. It is definitely a good blend of comedy and horror. Armed with the astonishing ability to shrink in scale but increase in strength, con-man Scott Lang (Paul Rudd) must embrace his inner-hero and help his mentor, Dr. Hank Pym (Michael Douglas), protect the se- cret behind his spectacular Ant-Man suit from a new generation of tow- ering threats. Against seemingly insurmountable obstacles, Pym and Lang must plan and pull off a heist that will save the world . This was one of those fun movies of the summer, that has just about everything, just the right amount of humor (thanks to Paul Rudd), lots of action, and even a little drama. Quick, witty, funny movie with a great script, that kinds of reminds me somewhat of "Honey I Shrunk the Kids". 20.

OCTOBER 24TH: NATIONALBOLOGNA DAY •••Offbeat Fall/Winter Holidays••• This distant cousin of the Charcuterie family is far less pretentious in taste than its name might imply. Bologna has roots in Bologna, Italy, derived from a sausage made there called mortadella. These days, it’s more humble, and commonly associated with cheeses of the Kraft Singles variety. It also can be a colloquial expression meaning “full of it,” which you just might be after a holiday of eating lots of bologna. Or as we like to call it, “Discover the science project you didn’t know you had growing in your refrigerator Day.” NOVEMBER 15TH: CLEAN OUT YOUR REFRIGERATOR DAY December 16th: National Cover Anything With Chocolate Day Not to be confused with National Chocolate Day on October 28th, this holiday is your free pass to dip anything in chocolate you otherwise wouldn’t the other 364 days of the year. 21.
