- 1. “Weldon Parts onThursday March 10th through Satur- day morning March 12th held our annual corporate sales meeting. Twenty two full time salesmen attend- ed, along with Dave Settles and myself. Two of our salesmen were unable to attend. Curt in Orlando because he was still recovering from pneu- monia and Rick in Dallas on Friday March 11th was scheduled to have a pace- maker implanted. Both are doing well now. Rick was back calling on accounts the following Monday. Curt was very sad because he was really looking for- ward to seeing everyone, specifically myself. Angelo said that he was recovering very well and that he no longer was using a crying towel. We had fifteen man- ufactures present their product lines. Each speak- er was graded on their product preparedness, product information, and how to sell their product. They all came prepared to do the job they were ask to do. The manufactures that attended the sales meeting were Atro, Bendix, CV Logistics, D & W Clutch, Dayton, EZ Valve, FPPF, Grote, Holland, Kit Mas- ters, Maxxima, Multiprens, Timken, Steer King, and Wix. Everyone received a lot information in a relatively short period by those pre- senting at the meeting. I feel that the sales staff ar- rived prepared with ques- tions they needed an- swered. Several salesmen throughout the meeting spoke positively about vari- ous presentations. I have been told by several man- agers that their salesmen thought the meeting was very good. In speaking with Dave after the meet- ing and sharing our thoughts we both felt that overall it went well. During the monthly educa- tion reports I get from eve- ry salesperson I asked a couple of them to tell the group how they sold addi- tional product by taking it upon themselves to do things differently than the normal. Bill Underwood out of Jacksonville gave an overview of his success in demonstrating the Maxxima MPWL-20 work light. He took a sample light around with him and by doing so he sold a num- ber of them. Bill also brought a sample AC hose that with the help of TTAC, they identified and had a hose made up. - 2. 2016 Store BrakeClinics Sales Meeting 2016 Cont’d 2640. He found that Peterbilt was selling them for $150.00 and more. By showings several customers the hose and telling them about our ability to save them a lot he has taken orders for about 8 of them. Our cost is $78.00. He now has TTAC working on another hose with the part number of d9027-3454 but has not heard back yet. Les Roberts out of McAlester gave eve- ryone an overview of his success in selling the Maxxima MPWL-10. He told everyone that because of the cost difference he has sold more of them compared to the MPWL- 20. George Tillman out of Omaha gave everyone some successful information on where he took an order from a customer for a AST- 21FX LED light out of the Dele- gard catalog. When he delivered it he and the customer opened it and turned it on. George was so sur- prised that he asked the customer if he could borrow it for a week to show others. In doing so he ended up selling some to nearly every customer he saw. Now for an ex- ample of how a given branch saw this success they bought 3 for their own use. Cliff McAdoo out of Lit- tle Rock took a light he bought for himself and showed it to his ac- counts and sold 21 of them. Joey Ward out of Little Rock also bought a light for his own use and so far has sold 33. In conversation with Paul Phelps in Tulsa he told me that his three salesmen told him about the sales meeting and the Delegard light and so far they sold 16 with another 50 on order for a total of 66 being sold. While on the phone he quickly found that several locations had picked up the part number with product being ordered. Nothing ventured, nothing gained. I now ask all of you when was the last time you showed a telescoping ladder or anything as you interfaced with our customers which could promote additional sales? Thanks to all, —Dean Clinton 2

- 4. “We had awonderful turnout...150 people (not including any Weldon employees). Chuck did a great job on his presentation. NTN was also there with a presentation. He was a nice young man. Everyone said that they learned a lot and had a great time. May 5th: Cinco De Mayo June 6th: National Doughnut Day For many in the US, the 5th of May in Spanish justifies a 5th shot of tequila. Cinco de Mayo actually holds its roots in the Mexican state of Puebla. It commemorates the Mexican army defeating the better-equipped French army occupying their land at the time. As far as the addition of excessive drinking as part of the holiday, all signs point to America as the culprit. 11 This is not some part of a new dessert trend. In fact, the holiday, annually the first Friday in June, was founded in 1938 to honor the role the sweet treat played in World War I. Members of the Salvation Army, who became known as "Doughnut Dollies," distributed donuts to sol- diers to supplement their rations. Years later, during the Great Depression, the Salvation Army created the holiday to remember these earlier services and encourage fundraising.

A faith few possess led your journey through life, often a jagged and stony way, The sun is setting, the cattle are all bedded, and here now is the end of your day. Your love of God’s soil has passed on to your kin; the stories flow like fine wine, Wash off your work boots in the puddle left by blessed rain one final time. You always believed that the good Lord would provide and He always had somehow, Take off your gloves and put them down, no more sweat and worry for you now. - 15. Selling tips!! 1. Ignorecompetitors Concentrate on selling your own product or service. If you do a good job of presenting your strong points, the competitor's weakness will be obvious. Sell your advantages—not the competitor's disad- vantages. A good sign 2. Don't be discouraged when a prospect raises ob- jections. Welcome objections—they're a sign of in- terest. A disinterested person wouldn't brother to raise them. 3. You are the company Customers judge a company to be the salesman who represents it. - 27. On February 26th,a retirement dinner was held in Grand Island at Uncle Ed’s Steakhouse for Jim Penwell. “I retired after 47 years with Weldon Industries and Weldon Parts. Those that were there present were all the managers and their wives from the Nebraska stores. My three children and Dean Clinton and his wife. The picture from left to right shows Steve, Dallas, Gordon Settles, me and my wife Sandy, Dave, and Daryle Settles. After this was taken, Dave and I totaled up all the years that were in the picture and we came up with over 260 years in the parts industry. Jim Penwell Grand Island manager Happy Retirement, Jim! 27
