The Virginia Tech Rescue Squad is a student-run emergency medical services agency founded in 1969 to provide emergency medical care to the Virginia Tech community. It operates 4 ambulances and runs over 1200 calls per year with over 40 active student members. Members undergo training including an EMT-B class and nightly trainings to prepare them for responding to calls and assisting at large campus events. The agency has a hierarchical structure and operates on a budget of around $150,000 per year from student fees and grants.
