4.  The Queen,Isabel II is the Head of State of the United Kingdom. As a constitutional monarchy, the
queen does not rule the country, but the royal family fulfills important ceremonial and formal roles
related to the Government. The Queen has sovereignty over the Crown Dependencies, the Isle of
Man and the bailiwick of Jersey and Guernsey that are not part of the UK.
 The UK has a parliamentary democracy.This means that the government is elected by the people.
There are elections every five years.The Prime Minister, David Cameron, heads the government
with the support of his cabinet and his ministers. The United Kingdom is a member of the European
Union. It has a central government, and three 'self-governments' for Scotland, Wales and Northern
Ireland. They are responsible of many internal problems, such as health, education, culture,
environment and transport policy.
 Parliament of the United Kingdom that meets in the Palace of Westminster has two houses: the
House of Commons (elected by the people) and the House of Lords and any law passed by
parliament requires Royal Assent to become law.
 The United Kingdom does not have a document that serves as a fully defined constitution,
something that only occurs in two other countries, Israel and New Zealand. The constitution of the
UK consists mainly of a collection of different written sources, including laws, statutes, case laws
and international treaties.
 The main political parties of the UK are :The Conservative Party, the Labour Party and the Liberal
Democrats.

5.  The culture of the United Kingdom, also called "British culture" can be described as
the legacy of the history of an insular developed country, a great power and as a
result of the political union of four countries, each retaining their distinctive
traditions, customs and symbolisms.
 Language: In the UK, the most spoken language is the English, however, there are
also other official languages, such as Welsh, Scottish and Irish Gaelic languages.
 CURRENCY:The currency of the UK is the pound sterling.
 Religion: The main religion in the UK is Christianity. But the UK is a society where
other religions are welcome and accepted .

6.  During the seventeenth century there were two revolutionary processes in England.
The first, known as the English Revolution , led by the Puritan Oliver Cromwell,
occurred between 1640 and 1660 , and led to the proclamation of the only republic in
the UK.
 The second revolutionary process was in the late seventeenth century and was known
by the name of Bloodless Revolution .This occurred after the restoration of the Stuart
monarchy. Parliamentary response against the absolutism of the Catholic King James
II.
 From 1780 to 1850, the Industrial Revolution is developed in England .The creation of
factories,the change in the textile trade, , the development of new technologies such
as the invention of the steam engine and its practical application in the railway;
supposed an economic revolution that led to a genuine break with the medieval
economic model.
 The 1st law of electoral reform was in 1832.This allowed numerous laws that imposed
significant social advances were approved
