A. Justification
At the time of their founding, Latin American countries drew inspiration from
the United States and its system of government based on democratically elected
presidents subject to checks and balances from independent and co-equal branches of
government. Yet democracy proved to be little more than an aspiration during most
of the region’s independent history with countries fluctuating repeatedly, often in
quick succession, from popularly elected leaders to dictatorships. Democracy failed to
take root in even the wealthiest and most industrialized countries in the region as
exemplified by repressive military dictatorships that ruled the Southern Cone during
the 1970s.
However, starting in the late 1970s and gathering momentum during the
1980s, Latin American dictatorships were replaced by popularly elected
governments. This time really did prove different. Despite setbacks and persistent
(and often well-justified) concerns about tangible results of democracy (its
deliverables), today all but two Latin American countries qualify as functioning (if
somewhat flawed) democracies.
Democracy is, for now, to quote Linz and Stepan (1996, 15), “the only game in
town” in Latin America. With that problem resolved, social scientists have turned
their attention to a new problem: the quality of said democracies:
How far are today’s democratically elected governments from what was
promised to the electorate prior to transition?
Specifically, what are the main strengths and weaknesses of each of the
region’s democracies?
You will tackle these questions by conducting an audit of the quality of
democracy in a Latin American country of your choosing. This assignment combined
with class lectures on the larger political trends in the region’s recent history, will
provide you with a more detailed and nuanced picture of Latin American Politics.
B. Assignment
1) You are to research and write a policy memo evaluating the state of democracy Argentina. The memo should
be about 2,500 words or 10 pages long (double-spaced).
2) Begin by understanding the concept of democratic quality and the ways in which
it can assessed. Quality of democracy in the country you select should be assessed
following the framework developed by Levine and Molina (2011). Said framework
evaluates the quality of a country’s democracy based on five criteria:

Voting within the United States has been one of the biggest privileges for citizens of the country, as it does not matter how much or little money a person makes. So far, the 2016 presidential race has proved to be one of the most enticing races in recent memory. As the race comes to an end, all of the attention has been given to four candidates: Hilary Clinton, Donald Trump, Bernie Sanders, and Ted Cruz. Each candidate has implored different techniques such as taking jabs at other candidates, in order to gain the most votes and be elected the 45th president of the United States. There is a belief among many people that this has been one of the worst portrayals of how presidential candidates should hold themselves, as many of the debates have turned into nothing more than shouting matches. Along with this, the United States has lost a lot of respect in the international realm because of the comments that the current candidates have made about citizens in other countries, specifically when looking at Mexico and countries within the Middle East.
In this essay, I will examine current Democratic candidate Bernie Sanders' campaign
website. This will be done by describing his website in terms of the words, pictures, and colors displayed on the pages. After, the ideological criticism will be explained by examining what the v critical approach to rhetoric is and how ideographs help unite people under a common viewpoint.
Following this, Sanders' campaign website will be examined by exploring three issues that are centerpieces to his campaign. Finally, the effectiveness of the Ideological criticism when used to critique Bernie Sanders' will be highlighted in the contribution to rhetoric section. Can law enforcement restore public trust?

Introduction
Police officers fatally shoot an average of nearly 1,000 people annually in the United States, and
Blacks, Hispanics, the mentally ill and the poor are more likely to be stopped by police than whites.
Increasingly, violent encounters with minorities are being captured on camera and igniting racial
justice protests across the country. Many police unions and defense lawyers caution those viral
images distort reality and say that the vast majority of officers behave ethically. Lawmakers,
criminal justice experts and civil rights leaders disagree on whether laws should restrict police use
of force, or if some law enforcement funding should be diverted to other community resources that
could better handle citizens' disagreements or emergencies. Many Americans want police officers
to be held more accountable — particularly in court — when they injure or kill a suspect. But
officers and legal experts say officers must assess threats quickly in order to protect themselves
and others, and courts should give them the benefit of the doubt.

In Minneapolis, police reforms seemingly came fast.
Beginning in 2016, the city revised officer training; promoted Assistant Chief Medaria Arradondo to
be the city's first Black police chief; held community meetings; toughened department policy on the
use of body cameras; and took other steps to address allegations that officers targeted minority
groups and used excessive force when making arrests.
“They were held up as a model of reform,” says David Muhammed, executive director of the
National Institute for Criminal Justice Reform, a research group based in Oakland, Calif.

Abstract : American policing faces a crisis of legitimacy. A key source of this crisis is a widespread police practice
commonly endorsed by police leaders to fight crime. This is the investigatory stop, used to check out people who seem
suspicious and to seize illegal drugs and guns and make arrests. Using data from an original scientific survey of
drivers in the Kansas City metropolitan area, the authors show that racial disparities in police stops are concentrated
in investigatory vehicle stops. In these stops, but not others, officers disproportionately stop African Americans and
question and search them. The overwhelming majority of people stopped in this way are innocent, and the experience
causes psychological harm and erodes trust in and cooperation with the police. Many of the most controversial police
shootings during the past two years occurred in these stops. Reforming this practice is an essential step toward restoring
trust in the police.

His research focuses on how marriages change or remain stable over time, and in particular how relationship maintenance is constrained or enhanced by the contexts in which it takes place. Currently this includes research on marriages in the military, funded by the Department of Defense, and marriages in low-income populations, funded by the National Institute on Child Health and Human Development.
He received the Gerald R. Miller Award for Early Career Achievement from the International Association for Relationship Research in 2004 and has twice been the recipient of the National Council on Family Relation’s Reuben Hill Research and Theory Award for outstanding contributions to family science. His textbook, Intimate Relationships (coauthored with Thomas Bradbury), will be published by W. W. Norton in January, 2010.
People rarely change their minds about subjects that are important to them. Those who favor gun control today are likely to favor gun control ten years from now, and those who vote for Democratic candidates today are likely to do so throughout their lives.
Yet intimate relationships, and marriages in particular, are the exception to this rule. After two people stand before everyone important to them in the world and publicly declare that they love each other and intend to remain together for the rest of their lives, everything social psychology has learned about the stability of publicly declared opinions suggests that these will be the most stable opinions of all (Festinger, 1957). Yet of course they aren’t. Despite the almost uniform happiness and optimism of newlyweds, most first marriages will end in divorce or permanent separation (Bramlett & Mosher, 2002), and the rate of dissolution http://bestofassignment.com for remarriages is even higher (Cherlin, 1992).
In most cases, this represents a drastic and unwanted change in a highly valued belief, a change that is emotionally and financially costly to both members of the couple. Novelist Marcel Proust believed that friendship was only bearable if we wear masks of good manners. This makes a deep and honest friendship very challenging. Voting within the United States has been one of the biggest privileges for citizens of the country, as it does not matter how much or little money a person makes. So far, the 2016 presidential race has proved to be one of the most enticing races in recent memory. As the race comes to an end, all of the attention has been given to four candidates: Hilary Clinton, Donald Trump, Bernie Sanders, and Ted Cruz. Each candidate has implored different techniques such as taking jabs at other candidates, in order to gain the most votes and be elected the 45th president of the United States. There is a belief among many people that this has been one of the worst portrayals of how presidential candidates should hold themselves, as many of the debates have turned into nothing more than shouting matches. Along with this, the United States has lost a lot of respect in the international realm because of the comments that the current candidates have made about citizens in other countries, specifically when looking at Mexico and countries within the Middle East.
In this essay, I will examine current Democratic candidate Bernie Sanders' campaign
website. This will be done by describing his website in terms of the words, pictures, and colors displayed on the pages. After, the ideological criticism will be explained by examining what the v critical approach to rhetoric is and how ideographs help unite people under a common viewpoint.
Following this, Sanders' campaign website will be examined by exploring three issues that are centerpieces to his campaign. Finally, the effectiveness of the Ideological criticism when used to critique Bernie Sanders' will be highlighted in the contribution to rhetoric section. Can law enforcement restore public trust?

Introduction
Police officers fatally shoot an average of nearly 1,000 people annually in the United States, and
Blacks, Hispanics, the mentally ill and the poor are more likely to be stopped by police than whites.
Increasingly, violent encounters with minorities are being captured on camera and igniting racial
justice protests across the country. Many police unions and defense lawyers caution those viral
images distort reality and say that the vast majority of officers behave ethically. Lawmakers,
criminal justice experts and civil rights leaders disagree on whether laws should restrict police use
of force, or if some law enforcement funding should be diverted to other community resources that
could better handle citizens' disagreements or emergencies. Many Americans want police officers
to be held more accountable — particularly in court — when they injure or kill a suspect. But
officers and legal experts say officers must assess threats quickly in order to protect themselves
and others, and courts should give them the benefit of the doubt.

Overview
In Minneapolis, police reforms seemingly came fast.
Beginning in 2016, the city revised officer training; promoted Assistant Chief Medaria Arradondo to
be the city's first Black police chief; held community meetings; toughened department policy on the
use of body cameras; and took other steps to address allegations that officers targeted minority
groups and used excessive force when making arrests.
“They were held up as a model of reform,” says David Muhammed, executive director of the
National Institute for Criminal Justice Reform, a research group based in Oakland, Calif.

Abstract : American policing faces a crisis of legitimacy. A key source of this crisis is a widespread police practice
commonly endorsed by police leaders to fight crime. This is the investigatory stop, used to check out people who seem
suspicious and to seize illegal drugs and guns and make arrests. Using data from an original scientific survey of
drivers in the Kansas City metropolitan area, the authors show that racial disparities in police stops are concentrated
in investigatory vehicle stops. In these stops, but not others, officers disproportionately stop African Americans and
question and search them. The overwhelming majority of people stopped in this way are innocent, and the experience
causes psychological harm and erodes trust in and cooperation with the police. Many of the most controversial police
shootings during the past two years occurred in these stops. Reforming this practice is an essential step toward restoring
trust in the police.

His research focuses on how marriages change or remain stable over time, and in particular how relationship maintenance is constrained or enhanced by the contexts in which it takes place. Currently this includes research on marriages in the military, funded by the Department of Defense, and marriages in low-income populations, funded by the National Institute on Child Health and Human Development.
He received the Gerald R. Miller Award for Early Career Achievement from the International Association for Relationship Research in 2004 and has twice been the recipient of the National Council on Family Relation’s Reuben Hill Research and Theory Award for outstanding contributions to family science. His textbook, Intimate Relationships (coauthored with Thomas Bradbury), will be published by W. W. Norton in January, 2010.
People rarely change their minds about subjects that are important to them. Those who favor gun control today are likely to favor gun control ten years from now, and those who vote for Democratic candidates today are likely to do so throughout their lives.
Yet intimate relationships, and marriages in particular, are the exception to this rule. After two people stand before everyone important to them in the world and publicly declare that they love each other and intend to remain together for the rest of their lives, everything social psychology has learned about the stability of publicly declared opinions suggests that these will be the most stable opinions of all (Festinger, 1957). Yet of course they aren’t. Despite the almost uniform happiness and optimism of newlyweds, most first marriages will end in divorce or permanent separation (Bramlett & Mosher, 2002), and the rate of dissolution http://bestofassignment.com for remarriages is even higher (Cherlin, 1992).
In most cases, this represents a drastic and unwanted change in a highly valued belief, a change that is emotionally and financially costly to both members of the couple. The Application features a game with a number of levels; on successful completion of a level, a player moves to the next level. Players can register directly with the app itself or by supplying identification information from one of a number of linked social media apps.
Player data is stored in a single file either as delimited text format or object file. Player details are Id, Player Name, Image Filename, Current Level, Number of Attempts at Current Level, and, Total Points earned. For social media players the social media app name and identifier are stored.
Requirements
Develop a project with console menu-driven application. The project should contain a controller class with stubs for methods implementing the requirements listed below:
1. Load player performance information from a specified file into a players collection implemented using a repository
2. Add a new player with default values for current level, attempts and points and remove a player from the list.
3. List all players in ascending order of overall points earned
4. Update a player's performance data after an attempt at a level – overall points earned should be updated. On successful completion of a level the player should move to the next level and attempts returned to 0; otherwise, number of attempts should be incremented
5. Persist the collection to a specified file
