Presented by: Navyata Bawa Presented at the All Things Open 2021 Raleigh, NC, USA Raleigh Convention Center Abstract: This talk follows the stories of how five core values - move fast, be bold, focus on impact, be open, and build social value - powered Facebook to make significant contributions in some of the most widely used open source projects. Follow us as we explore how each of these values have motivated some of the world’s most used software frameworks - from open sourcing the ability to setup a modern web app with just one command to collaboratively bringing together competing vendors to break open the black box of proprietary IT infrastructure - we will discuss the thought process and motivations that drove the open sourcing of our projects. The open source projects covered in this talk include - Presto, the Open Compute Project, the Create React App, PyTorch, and Major League Hacking.
