The document summarizes the experiences of Major H.P.S. Ahluwalia, a member of the first successful Indian expedition to Mount Everest in 1965. When Ahluwalia reached the summit, he felt full of humility and thanked God for his physical success. He questioned why people risk climbing mountains, and concluded that it is because mountains present great difficulties that man enjoys overcoming. For Ahluwalia, mountains have offered physical, emotional and spiritual fulfillment since childhood, but climbing one's inner self is an even greater challenge.

The lesson, The Ant and The Cricket from the NCERT Class 8th english textbook, ''The Honeydew'' teaches us a moral that ''We should make hay while the sun shines'' and shouldn't be as lazy as the cricket in the poem. There was a great difference between the attitude and behaviour of both the ants and the cricket and it was clear from that, whom we should follow to move ahead in life. So here's a PowerPoint Presentation on the lesson which makes it easy for u to understand it.

A comet is an icy small Solar System body (SSSB) that, when close enough to the Sun, displays a visible coma (a thin, fuzzy, temporary atmosphere) and sometimes also a tail. These phenomena are both due to the effects of solar radiation and the solar wind upon the nucleus of the comet. Comet nuclei range from a few hundred meters to tens of kilometers across and are composed of loose collections of ice, dust and small rocky particles. Comets have been observed since ancient times.
Comets have a wide range of orbital periods, ranging from a few years to hundreds of thousands of years. Short-period comets originate in the Kuiper belt, or its associated scattered disc,[1] which lie beyond the orbit of Neptune. Longer-period comets are thought to originate in the Oort cloud, a hypothesized spherical cloud of icy bodies in the outer Solar System. Long-period comets plunge towards the Sun from the Oort cloud because of gravitational perturbations caused by either the massive outer planets of the Solar System (Jupiter, Saturn, Uranus, and Neptune), or passing stars. Rare hyperbolic comets pass once through the inner Solar System before being thrown out into interstellar space along hyperbolic trajectories. Exocomets, comets beyond our solar system, have also been detected and may be common in the Milky Way Galaxy.[2]
Comets are distinguished from asteroids by the presence of a coma or a tail. However, extinct comets that have passed close to the Sun many times have lost nearly all of their volatile ices and dust and may come to resemble small asteroids.[3] Asteroids are thought to have a different origin from comets, having formed inside the orbit of Jupiter rather than in the outer Solar System.[4][5] The discovery of main-belt comets and active centaurs has blurred the distinction between asteroids and comets (see asteroid terminology).
As of January 2011 there are a reported 4,185 known comets[6] of which about 1,500 are Kreutz Sungrazers and about 484 are short-period.[7] This number is steadily increasing. However, this represents only a tiny fraction of the total potential comet population: the reservoir of comet-like bodies in the outer Solar System may number one trillion.[8] The number visible to the naked eye averages roughly one per year, though many of these are faint and unspectacular.[9] Particularly bright or notable examples are called "Great Comets".

June 3, 2024 Anti-Semitism Letter Sent to MIT President Kornbluth and MIT Cor...Levi Shapiro
Letter from the Congress of the United States regarding Anti-Semitism sent June 3rd to MIT President Sally Kornbluth, MIT Corp Chair, Mark Gorenberg
Dear Dr. Kornbluth and Mr. Gorenberg,
The US House of Representatives is deeply concerned by ongoing and pervasive acts of antisemitic
harassment and intimidation at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT). Failing to act decisively to ensure a safe learning environment for all students would be a grave dereliction of your responsibilities as President of MIT and Chair of the MIT Corporation.
This Congress will not stand idly by and allow an environment hostile to Jewish students to persist. The House believes that your institution is in violation of Title VI of the Civil Rights Act, and the inability or
unwillingness to rectify this violation through action requires accountability.
Postsecondary education is a unique opportunity for students to learn and have their ideas and beliefs challenged. However, universities receiving hundreds of millions of federal funds annually have denied
students that opportunity and have been hijacked to become venues for the promotion of terrorism, antisemitic harassment and intimidation, unlawful encampments, and in some cases, assaults and riots.
The House of Representatives will not countenance the use of federal funds to indoctrinate students into hateful, antisemitic, anti-American supporters of terrorism. Investigations into campus antisemitism by the Committee on Education and the Workforce and the Committee on Ways and Means have been expanded into a Congress-wide probe across all relevant jurisdictions to address this national crisis. The undersigned Committees will conduct oversight into the use of federal funds at MIT and its learning environment under authorities granted to each Committee.
• The Committee on Education and the Workforce has been investigating your institution since December 7, 2023. The Committee has broad jurisdiction over postsecondary education, including its compliance with Title VI of the Civil Rights Act, campus safety concerns over disruptions to the learning environment, and the awarding of federal student aid under the Higher Education Act.
• The Committee on Oversight and Accountability is investigating the sources of funding and other support flowing to groups espousing pro-Hamas propaganda and engaged in antisemitic harassment and intimidation of students. The Committee on Oversight and Accountability is the principal oversight committee of the US House of Representatives and has broad authority to investigate “any matter” at “any time” under House Rule X.
• The Committee on Ways and Means has been investigating several universities since November 15, 2023, when the Committee held a hearing entitled From Ivory Towers to Dark Corners: Investigating the Nexus Between Antisemitism, Tax-Exempt Universities, and Terror Financing. The Committee followed the hearing with letters to those institutions on January 10, 202
A Strategic Approach: GenAI in EducationPeter Windle
Artificial Intelligence (AI) technologies such as Generative AI, Image Generators and Large Language Models have had a dramatic impact on teaching, learning and assessment over the past 18 months. The most immediate threat AI posed was to Academic Integrity with Higher Education Institutes (HEIs) focusing their efforts on combating the use of GenAI in assessment. Guidelines were developed for staff and students, policies put in place too. Innovative educators have forged paths in the use of Generative AI for teaching, learning and assessments leading to pockets of transformation springing up across HEIs, often with little or no top-down guidance, support or direction.
This Gasta posits a strategic approach to integrating AI into HEIs to prepare staff, students and the curriculum for an evolving world and workplace. We will highlight the advantages of working with these technologies beyond the realm of teaching, learning and assessment by considering prompt engineering skills, industry impact, curriculum changes, and the need for staff upskilling. In contrast, not engaging strategically with Generative AI poses risks, including falling behind peers, missed opportunities and failing to ensure our graduates remain employable. The rapid evolution of AI technologies necessitates a proactive and strategic approach if we are to remain relevant.
2024.06.01 Introducing a competency framework for languag learning materials ...Sandy Millin
http://sandymillin.wordpress.com/iateflwebinar2024
Published classroom materials form the basis of syllabuses, drive teacher professional development, and have a potentially huge influence on learners, teachers and education systems. All teachers also create their own materials, whether a few sentences on a blackboard, a highly-structured fully-realised online course, or anything in between. Despite this, the knowledge and skills needed to create effective language learning materials are rarely part of teacher training, and are mostly learnt by trial and error.
Knowledge and skills frameworks, generally called competency frameworks, for ELT teachers, trainers and managers have existed for a few years now. However, until I created one for my MA dissertation, there wasn’t one drawing together what we need to know and do to be able to effectively produce language learning materials.
This webinar will introduce you to my framework, highlighting the key competencies I identified from my research. It will also show how anybody involved in language teaching (any language, not just English!), teacher training, managing schools or developing language learning materials can benefit from using the framework.

Everest is called Chomolungma in Tibet. It means
mother Goddess of the universe. Everest is called
Sagarmatha in Nepal. It means Goddess of the
sky.
The first woman to summit Everest was Junko
Tabei of Japan in 1975.
9. Key points
Major H.P.S. Ahluwalia was a member of the first
successful expedition to Mount Everest in 1965.
The author H.P.S. Ahluwalia has narrated his
experience of climbing the summit of Everest.
As the author stood on the summit many emotions
surged through him.
Of all the emotions, the dominant one was humility.
Climbing the summit of Everest provides a deep
sense of joy which lasts a lifetime and changes the
climber completely.
According to the author, there is another summit- the
summit of mind that is more difficult to climb.
After getting down from the summit, the author
questioned himself as to why people climb
mountains.
The mountain presents great difficulties.
Man takes delight in overcoming obstacles.
10. Summary
‘The Summit Within’ is a story of
experiences of Major H.P.S. Ahluwalia, a
member of the first successful Indian
expedition to Mount Everest. Ahluwalia was
full of humility when he stood on the
summit of Everest. He thanked God for his
physical success. It was the highest of the
goals for him. While getting down from the
Summit he asked himself why he climbed
Everest and what made him to do so. The
people climb mountains because they
present great difficulties. Man takes delight
in overcoming obstacles. A climb to a
summit means the demonstration of
climber’s endurance, Persistence and will
power. Since childhood, the narrator has
been attracted by mountains.
11. For him mountains are nature at its best. They have a
challenging beauty and majesty. They are a means of
communion with God.Everest is the highest and the
mightiest and has defied many previous attempts. On
climbing its summit, one has the sense of victory and of
happiness. Its view brings a spiritual change in his mind.
It poses a challenge before him which was difficult to
resist. One feels connected with the supernatural
element on reaching the Summit. One becomes
conscious of his own smallness in this large Universe. It
provides physical, emotional and spiritual fulfilment.
Climbing a mountain is a highly risky job and needs
others’ help also. The fellow climbers prove to be a
source of inspiration. They remember their Gods to feel
confident. It is far more difficult to climb the summit
within oneself than to climb the summit of a mountain.
One can get a fuller knowledge of oneself merely by
climbing one’s personal and internal mountain peak.
