  THE BRITISH TRIBUS Before the Roman invasions, the  Britons  lived in tribes, usually  ruled  by a king or a queen. Religion was in the  hands of the Druids,  who  acted as  judges in disputes. The Druids  encouraged fierce  British resistance to the Roman invasion. The religion was in the hands of the Druids.
THE CONQUEST The first Roman General  to lead  his soldiers into Britain was Julius Caesar, in  I century BC.  Caesar  wrote about  his visit to Britain.   Later, in  I century AD,  the  emperor  Claudius could  invade  Britain. Claudius fought  against  11 British kings, because there were a lot of kings in Britain. After that, Claudius  conquested Britain, and it was  declared  a Roman   province.   The emperor Claudius
Aulus Plautius was the first Roman  governor  in Britain, and the Roman Army  was present to keep the peace.
