Central New Mexico Community College migrated all employee email to Office 365 in May 2015. The college has expanded its adoption of Office 365 services since then, including the migration of 105,000 student email accounts to Office 365 in May 2015 and a continuing SharePoint Online initiative. Focusing on the migration of student email, learn about the process, what pitfalls we encountered and what advantages the Office 365 environment provides the CNM community. I want to share these issues to encourage others who are planning to move to Moodle 2 but still reluctant, to go for it on top of all these obstacles. Also to help them avoid the problems we faced.

Office 365 allows staff and students to access email, calendars, documents, and storage both at school and home. Each staff member has 50GB of personal storage on OneDrive. Training is offered on Office 365, Smartboards, iPads, and during drop-in sessions. iPads have been issued to all staff and will be introduced to students on a rolling basis to enhance learning and teaching.

2) The transition involved testing the new cloud-based system over several months before going live in late March 2013, with some initial outages but little noticeable difference to users.
3) Moving to the new hosted infrastructure enabled the library to focus on new strategic digital services, streamline front-of-house operations, and implement projects like identity management and finance integration.

- Online services through Microsoft Live@Edu offer a low-cost, quick deployment option that extends classroom learning outside of the school day and lowers technical barriers compared to building similar services in-house.

Successfully Delivering Secure Online Exams at Scale
In Semester 1 of this academic year (2013-14) Newcastle University successfully delivered 71 exams, with more than 9000 student sittings across a multitude of venues across campus. The only additional software cost has been a site-wide Respondus Licence used to convert existing formatted questions and produce backup paper exam copies. By building on Blackboard's existing functionality, we have provided a streamlined process for building and running secure, locked down online exams with additional reporting and feedback functionality.
This presentation outlines how the OLAF (Online Assessment and Feedback) project has evolved since 2007 to its present state today. The stakeholders involved in a delivering a complex cross-institutional service and the tools we have developed to assist us to keep track of multiple exam delivery across multiple PC venues. Our technical support team have developed a free in-house solution for providing a locked down browser, using Firefox portable and a compatible extension. During the session we will explore the pros and cons of Blackboard as an assessment system, outlining what can be achieved and where we are hitting limitations and whether we can do anything about these limitations.
The existing assessment tools in Blackboard can meet the majority of needs for online examinations at present. We can use exported data from Blackboard to produce additional reports and student feedback. Yet there are limitations to the testing that can be conducted through Blackboard that will stop some users from fulfilling their requirements. There are still features that other software offers that staff would like to use, such as breaking tests into sections, more advanced text marking and so on.
Should institutions be aiming for more online assessments with more sophisticated features, or should we stick with what the majority need to use?
During the session we will encourage debate about short term/long term needs and strategies

Abhishek Dullu is a 27-year-old senior cloud engineer with over 5 years of experience working with Amazon Web Services and as a data integration expert with skills in Informatica, SQL, Oracle PL/SQL, and Unix. He has extensive experience setting up and managing cloud infrastructure on AWS including EC2 instances, VPC, S3, RDS, and monitoring tools like Zabbix, Sciencelogic, and CloudWatch. As a data integration lead, he has designed architectures, ensured SLA compliance, and mentored other engineers. Mutation Testing for Task-Oriented Chatbots
Conversational agents, or chatbots, are increasingly used to access all sorts of services using natural language. While open-domain chatbots - like ChatGPT - can converse on any topic, task-oriented chatbots - the focus of this paper - are designed for specific tasks, like booking a flight, obtaining customer support, or setting an appointment. Like any other software, task-oriented chatbots need to be properly tested, usually by defining and executing test scenarios (i.e., sequences of user-chatbot interactions). However, there is currently a lack of methods to quantify the completeness and strength of such test scenarios, which can lead to low-quality tests, and hence to buggy chatbots.
To fill this gap, we propose adapting mutation testing (MuT) for task-oriented chatbots. To this end, we introduce a set of mutation operators that emulate faults in chatbot designs, an architecture that enables MuT on chatbots built using heterogeneous technologies, and a practical realisation as an Eclipse plugin. Moreover, we evaluate the applicability, effectiveness and efficiency of our approach on open-source chatbots, with promising results.

The next time you look for a strategy and find an empty space, instead of waiting for it to be filled, I will show you how to fill it in yourself. If you’re wrong, it forces a correction. If you’re right, it helps create focus. I’ll share how I’ve approached this in the past, both what works and lessons for what didn’t work so well.
Apps Break Data
How information systems are built or acquired puts information, which is what they should be about, in a secondary place. Our language adapted accordingly, and we no longer talk about information systems but applications. Applications evolved in a way to break data into diverse fragments, tightly coupled with applications and expensive to integrate. The result is technical debt, which is re-paid by taking even bigger "loans", resulting in an ever-increasing technical debt. Software engineering and procurement practices work in sync with market forces to maintain this trend. This talk demonstrates how natural this situation is. The question is: can something be done to reverse the trend?

- 3. SELLING THE MIGRATION “With Office 365, students gain the benefits of a robust web environment that is tightly integrated with faculty and staff.”
- 4. SOCIAL CHALLENGES • As in faculty/staff migration, communication was key • Presentations to high-level administrators, faculty • Emails to all student accounts • Honest about potential hiccups • Between semesters, prioritized ~900 intersession students • Can’t make everyone happy: “It’s 2016, we all use Google. Your systems should integrate to Google instead of forcing your students and faculty to revert to s--- nobody uses.”
- 5. TECHNICAL CHALLENGES • “After the fact” migration due to mail routing • Slow enabling of Office 365 mailboxes, slow migrations • Technician error • User misinformation and misunderstandings • Google Apps couldn’t be disabled • Randomness of migration • OneDrive for Business provisioning
